Love this big Silverback! The boy can move! Holy Smokes! Always protecting, doing his job! He scared Gentaro more than anything which is what he should do. Didnt strike him just let him kmow that behavior isnt acceptable. Good dad! He may look uninvolved at times, but heres proof hes always watching. Love Momotaro!! All will be well with the boys. Their love is pretty deep and flare ups will happen as both of them learn the ways of being a male gorilla. Great teacher Momo!!!!
Oh my goodness, family drama and family dynamics. The keeper was feeding Kintaro when Gentaro got too close. Kintaro tried to push him away, but in a jealous rage Gentaro pulled him down. Genki immediately came over to grab her baby. Then Momotaro was quick to scold his eldest son. Quite the scene today. I hope Kintaro is okay and doesn't have a head injury. He seems all right, thankfully.
"Jealous rage" everyone keeps saying. Yet another example of interpreting animal behavior through human (biased) eyes. It would be more objective to say Kintaro startled Gentaro & Gentaro reacted.

Poor baby and big boy, the two brothers are my favorites. I can't judge the wrong one of them. I just hope that neither of them has been harmed 🥺. I think Momotaro is doing the right thing 👍, he must first to protect the baby Kintaro; and then teaches the Gentaro cannot hit the littel brother.

Most of these other zoos also respect the natural diet of their animals, as they should. But usually feed them the most vistous foods when people are there. Now, about looking happy, unless we're talking about really evident things, it's more a matter of human interpretation than actual facts. For example, these gorillas here look pretty normal and you're saying they are not happy. They act normally on the situations we see them. If they were sad we would notice them not functioning properly, fpr example, not grooming themselves, being apathetic. Now, I do suggest you do search about gorillas' diet. For real. Serious zoos don't give them too much fruit, but they chose to give them the little fruit they give them when people are there, because people like it. As I said, too much fruit cause cavities and teeth decay, mineral imbalance (such as lack of calcium, for example, obese animals, pre-diabetic status (that can evolve to diabetes). Of course here I'm talking about the gorillas. Different species need different kinds of food and some have a pretty fruity diet. We humans could never live on such a voluminous diet like gorillas do (they are extremely well adapted to that). We would have many imbalances. I do suggest you search that. And pay attention on the videos you see of gorillas eating other stuff. Keep in mind that tho foods are not the majority of what they are eating (or they shouldn't be). A respectable zoo should focus on nutritious diets for each species (and those vary a lot).

I truly believe lol Genki was extremly patient with Gentaro esp when Kintaro was first born because if she reallly put up a fit, Momotaro would have put Gentaro in his place. It makes me angry when I see people are still without any education and call a Gorilla a beast They are the most gentle and peaceful animals one can imagine! We had a sweet white dwarf rabbit, which chased and bite dogs really brutally. Just for fun. Momotaro here cared for the vulnerable baby . That is what was told hin to care for by their Gorilla anchestors. A 'beast'. Shame on you!

Yes she seems to be intimidated by him. When she's in the box and he comes around she gets out of the box. I've only seen a few videos where they're sitting together in the box but she seems very anxious when they are
Andrea, Cathy, & Lagia, Genki respects Momotaro. He is The Silverback, her silverback. He maintains safety, order, & peace within the troop. He gets to sit wherever he wants & no one messes with his food. (Actually gorillas don't share food, so no one messes with anyone else's food except Genki, but we are aware of her problems.)
Gentaro being a naughty jealous boy, again. Poor Kintaro, that was a hard hit. Momotaro's disciplinary swan dive..lol. Impressive since silverbacks weigh around 400lbs. Dad got to Gentaro in 2.2 seconds, and Gentaro had no time to run so screaming (an apology and begging for mercy) was the next best thing.

Momotaro can be quite spry when necessary! And in the end he didn’t even touch Gentaro but lesson well learned. Gentaro was definitely too rough he reminds me of my older brother - he never got over the fact that there’s a new baby in the house!

The keepers are the problem here not the apes. If your going to show partiality then this will eventually cause more problems within this family unit. The keepers should have offered Gentaro an apple or pumpkin or celery or a carrot or a turnip before feeding his younger brother. WAKE UP KEEPERS.

Kentaro gets supplemental meals everyday in the same way twice a day from the keepers, because Genki doesn't produce enough milk. Today, Gentaro is jealous, so he interupts for attention. It's not his turn. He slams the 2 year old to the ground when Kentaro tries to communicate to let him finish. With his strength, it could have been terrible for Kentaro. Momo handled it correctly.

Good to see Momotaro glare at Gentaro to put him back in his place. Reminded me of my dad , a majority of the time a look was all that was needed to put you in your place. And Genki's look reminded me of my mum rolling her eyes. I don't think any of them fear Momotaro but respect his roll in the family unit when he decides to show his displeasure. There is no doubt dad loves both his boys as he is never over the top in his discipline.
Oh, I think there is considerable fear but I think that's the typical dynamic in most gorilla troops. I've seen a number of times when Gentaro cowered around Momo and I saw another time when Momo walked past Genki and she was so scared you could see her arm repeatedly flinching.

Genki is pretty quick to protect her sons-and doesn’t even stop eating! It’s just second nature to her. However, I can understand Momotaro getting angry. He likes order in his house.

Hi miss hina . Please take care of little kintaro. He fell on his head to the ground. Gentaro got disciplined by his father. Father momotaro is correct. Gentaro was scared but gentaro is strong and healthy to overcome the fear, though gentaro is upset but he will be OK in time to go. Mother genki is correct she cuddled up with little kintaro and comforted the little boy. But The most hurt and injury happened to the little toddler kintaro the little boy is in his tender and soft age. Hope little kintaro is not hurt badly on his head. Please take care of little kintaro. God bless .

I wouldn't say that. He was very caring and gentle to Gentaro when he was a baby. Momotaro was an inexperience father, it's different. Kintaro when he gets older I am sure will test his father's patience just like Gentaro. I wonder if Genki has another baby will how will kintaro be?
When Gentaro runs and screams and he gets to Genki It’s Genki who’s screaming at Momotaro. That’s how Genki yells....she’s in a few videos screaming when Momo goes after Gentaro
Did anyone else also notice daddy Mo watching Gentaro carefully when he was at the lab bars? He knew could be a potential fight zone. Even the birds were screeching "Danger!" when dad ended what Gentaro started.
Kintaro got up and still walked around normal so it probably isn’t a serious injury but probably does hurt a little though. Gentaro did slam him on the ground by a few feet.
It seems he fell later from the beam, but could catch a rope. Since he was thrown on his head and checked it again and again, my sorrow is he got a concussion. I would have wished they showed Kintaro to the vet.
I'm sure Kintaro can be annoying at times but Gentaro also was when he's a baby! And yes Momo's huge I would of been scared too if he came bolting around the corner! Lol

Jr., is getting besides himself!! Maybe she needs to let dad bite him. He won’t hurt him too bad. But he needs to be stopped before he seriously hurts his brother, especially when the keepers are giving them treats.
It was actually the lady zookeeper's fault because she was giving all the attention to Kentero and ignoring Gentero who was sitting there too. When Gentero got up to get his share Kentero slapped him and Gentero then knocked him off the bars and that's when Momo came after him. There shouldn't be preferential treatment of the two children. The staff should treat the brothers as if they're equally important.
Sorry Kintaro your big brother didn’t mean to pull you down too hard. I’m sure Kintaro will forgive his big brother. Gentaro will learn his lesson when big daddy almost hit to discipline him. Gentaro will have to be careful as his strength could harm Kintaro.
Gentaro screamed because he knew he was in trouble. I think it saved him from punishment. Momotoro didn’t have to hit him. He was already crying. Gentaro is very smart. Reminds me of children who do the same to avoid punishment.

Si Gentaro se llevó una reprimenda, supongo que papa aunque parezca que no está , lo tiene todo controlado. No creo que kintaro lo hiciera con mala intención pero cuando vieron la caída de kintaro saltaron como un resorte . Genky protegiendo a su bebé y papa imponiendo disciplina. Kintaro tiene mucho carácter y no se deja amedrentar nunca le vi protegiendo su comida de esa manera 😂😂y Gentaro es mas como mamá. No sé si es percepción mia pero creo que auque mamá quiere protege y cuida muchísimo a kintaro el niño de sus ojos es Gentaro y kintaro es de papa. Genky protege y cuida mucho de Gentaro teniendo en cuenta que va cumplir nueve años. No sé si porque se lo tuvieron que quitar muchos meses y le quedó algun trauma.
OF COURSE they do, that's what started the whole darn fight! The keeper was feeding Baby King his delicious baby breakfast, when Gentaro got too close and Kinny didn't want to share. Rewatch the video carefully. Normally before the Keeper feeds Kintaro is breakfast, she gives alot of leaves, grasses, and branches to Genki, then when Genki is preoccupied with eating, she feeds Kintaro. I thinks she needs to do this with Gentaro too.

You could not have said it any better...Kintaro should not have hit Gentaro but Gentaro should have waited. Momotaro came in to save/help his wife Genki, because she jumped at Gentaro and Momotaro was backing her up. Very important lessons for Gentaro to learn as Momotaro just intimidated him. He could have done much worse. Gentaro is still my favorite of the family. He is smart enough to know he did wrong. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day
Lessons learned I would say. Would’ve been better to hear what was happening instead of that screwed up music. All is well in Gorilla land. Won’t be the last time it happens. Wait till Momo shows Kintaro who runs the show that will happen also.

始めにキンタロウ「兄ちゃんどけよ。」とゲンタロウをどつく。ゲンタロウは「何すんだチビ！」とどつき返したらキンタロウが落下。母は弟を心配して駆け寄り、父は兄を叱りに駆けてくる。初めに手を出したのはキンタロウなのに叱られるのはゲンタロウ。よくあるパターンだ。でも男の子にはガツンと叱るお父さんの存在が大事。

If they were sad we would notice them not functioning properly, fpr example, not grooming themselves, being apathetic. Now, I do suggest you do search about gorillas' diet. For real. Serious zoos don't give them too much fruit, but they chose to give them the little fruit they give them when people are there, because people like it. As I said, too much fruit cause cavities and teeth decay, mineral imbalance (such as lack of calcium, for example, obese animals, pre-diabetic status (that can evolve to diabetes). Of course here I'm talking about the gorillas. Different species need different kinds of food and some have a pretty fruity diet. We humans could never live on such a voluminous diet like gorillas do (they are extremely well adapted to that). We would have many imbalances. I do suggest you search that. And pay attention on the videos you see of gorillas eating other stuff. Keep in mind that tho foods are not the majority of what they are eating (or they shouldn't be). A respectable zoo should focus on nutritious diets for each species (and those vary a lot).

Gentaro being a naughty jealous boy, again. Poor Kintaro, that was a hard hit. Momotaro's disciplinary swan dive..lol. Impressive since silverbacks weigh around 400lbs. Dad got to Gentaro in 2.2 seconds, and Gentaro had no time to run so screaming (an apology and begging for mercy) was the next best thing.

Momotaro can be quite spry when necessary! And in the end he didn’t even touch Gentaro but lesson well learned. Gentaro was definitely too rough he reminds me of my older brother - he never got over the fact that there’s a new baby in the house!

The keepers are the problem here not the apes. If your going to show partiality then this will eventually cause more problems within this family unit.

Kentaro gets supplemental meals everyday in the same way twice a day from the keepers, because Genki doesn't produce enough milk. Today, Gentaro is jealous, so he interupts for attention. It's not his turn. He slams the 2 year old to the ground when Kentaro tries to communicate to let him finish. With his strength, it could have been terrible for Kentaro. Momo handled it correctly.

Good to see Momotaro glare at Gentaro to put him back in his place. Reminded me of my dad , a majority of the time a look was all that was needed to put you in your place. And Genki's look reminded me of my mum rolling her eyes. I don't think any of them fear Momotaro but respect his roll in the family unit when he decides to show his displeasure. There is no doubt dad loves both his boys as he is never over the top in his discipline.
Momotero is an unhappy bad tempered gorilla and doesn't deserve the family he has.
Oh, I think there is considerable fear but I think that's the typical dynamic in most gorilla troops. I've seen a number of times when Gentaro cowered around Momo and I saw another time when Momo walked past Genki and she was so scared you could see her arm repeatedly flinching.

I wouldn't say that. He was very caring and gentle to Gentaro when he was a baby. Momotaro was an inexperience father, it's different. Kintaro when he gets older I am sure will test his father's patience just like Gentaro. I wonder if Genki has another baby will how will kintaro be?

It was actually the lady zookeeper's fault because she was giving all the attention to Kentero and ignoring Gentero who was sitting there too. When Gentero got up to get his share Kentero slapped him and Gentero then knocked him off the bars and that's when Momo came after him. There shouldn't be preferential treatment of the two children. The staff should treat the brothers as if they're equally important.
Keepers start serving them fairly, Gentaro is always left out.

Si Gentaro se llevó una reprimenda, supongo que papa aunque parezca que no está , lo tiene todo controlado. No creo que kintaro lo hiciera con mala intención pero cuando vieron la caída de kintaro saltaron como un resorte . Genky protegiendo a su bebé y papa imponiendo disciplina. OF COURSE they do, that's what started the whole darn fight! The keeper was feeding Baby King his delicious baby breakfast, when Gentaro got too close and Kinny didn't want to share. Rewatch the video carefully.
Normally before the Keeper feeds Kintaro is breakfast, she gives alot of leaves, grasses, and branches to Genki, then when Genki is preoccupied with eating, she feeds Kintaro. I thinks she needs to do this with Gentaro too.

You could not have said it any better...Kintaro should not have hit Gentaro but Gentaro should have waited. Momotaro came in to save/help his wife Genki, because she jumped at Gentaro and Momotaro was backing her up. Very important lessons for Gentaro to learn as Momotaro just intimidated him. He could have done much worse. Gentaro is still my favorite of the family. He is smart enough to know he did wrong. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day
Lessons learned I would say. Would’ve been better to hear what was happening instead of that screwed up music. All is well in Gorilla land. Won’t be the last time it happens. Wait till Momo shows Kintaro who runs the show that will happen also.

Besides breastfeeding, she does eat compulsively or out of anxiety. On top of that, she doesn't chew her food well & doesn't absorb all the nutrients as well as she should.
