    Spot on. I have just started out as an analyst with an M&A team and this is exactly how my day looks like.

      Hey! Glad I captured the right bits of what we do an "average" day. As you know, there are so many different tasks to get stuck into.

    Thanks for this! How did your role in M&A differ post-ACA? As in what kind of work/responsibilities do you have in the years following the grad scheme? Would be interesting to hear, thanks!

    • @FinanceUnboxed
      @FinanceUnboxed  3 года назад

      Hey, great thanks question. After the grad scheme there was more client interaction, starting to manage junior staff and more responsibility in delivering work product. The fact that I finished my Accountancy qualification was of less importance in comparison to me just being more experienced in the M&A role, leading to greater responsibility. Hope this makes sense!

    Really insightful thanks! What kind of work do you do towards the end of a deal when it's crunch time? (Not just as an analyst but in general)

    • @FinanceUnboxed
      @FinanceUnboxed  3 года назад +1

      Hey, towards the end of the deal is when we'll be negotiating about the price through adjustments in net debt and working capital. We'll also be ensuring that all Due Diligence is complete on time and that the SPA negotiations are progressing well. There will be other bits progressing in parallel eg agreeing new employment contracts, and so We'll be coordinating this as well. Quite a few workstreams progressing at the same time. Hope this helps!

    What about doing the actual work when you first joined? Who taught you what to do and were you guided properly? Meaning they actually teach you or are you just thrown in the deep end? 😅

    Which software you use? And what’s your education background? There are many companies out there looking for experience in SQL for finance analyst position? Is SQL or Power BI used so often and if you use it what sort of tasks related to these software?

    Hey, I have one question, can you suggest me career after CFA? I hope there isn't only career in Financial Market only, after CFA and even if there is, I hope I can enter into fundamentals via job. I mean I want to understand fundamentals but under job, not with own capital investment, I hope I am able to explain my doubt clearly?

    • @FinanceUnboxed
      @FinanceUnboxed  3 года назад +1

      Hey, depends on what you mean by financial market. Generally, the CFA qualification is used to get into equity research or asset management roles. However, you can also transition into risk analysis, consulting or corporate finance with it.

  • @888zzz

    I am career transitioning and graduated many years ago with a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance. How common are older workers hired as entry level financial analysts? Thanks.

    Hey!
    I am a bachelors student of Delhi university, India and I want to get into corporate finance.
    What would be a better approach according to you, CA, CFA or MBA finance.
    Or how we can decide which one is best for us?

    • @FinanceUnboxed
      @FinanceUnboxed  3 года назад

      Hey, there is no specific qualification you need to work in CF and I've seen individuals with all those 3 quals. Saying that, personally I feel that the CA gives you the right foundation for a career in M&A (CF), plus it opens up opps in Due Diligence etc if you aren't able to make the direct move into M&A, which can be a good stepping stone. The best way to decide according to me is asking yourself what your second choice would be if you don't get a role in M&A. CFA for e.g. opens you up to roles in investment management. Similarly, the CA opens up different doors. Hope this makes sense 🙂

    A small suggestion from my end, please drop down your linkedin profile. You can even start sharing your content in the linkedin.

      Hey thanks for the suggestion. I want to keep my linkedin private but I am thinking of writing articles on Linkedin on a separate Finance Unboxed page. Will certainly advertise it on RUclips once I start writing these.

    • @FinanceUnboxed

      Hey, in terms of a specific degree you don't need anything. IB works well, not a problem. Naturally would recommend getting internships as early as possible to build up the CV

    So as an analyst you dont do any modeling or dcf valuation? Are those tasks solely handled by valuation teams? Or do senior associates in m&a get more modeling exposure than analyst?

    • @FinanceUnboxed
      @FinanceUnboxed  3 года назад +1

      Hey, Analysts certainly do modelling and valuation work on a very regular basis, pretty much from the start of their careers. The valuations team does the more complicated stuff!
