I was thinking wow she planted 3 in one pot… lol. I’d been there and done that. I knew what was coming. At least yours flowered because, mine never produced. It was just so hard to keep up with watering and I had 2 in one pot. I ended up cutting one out… Nice job! I may have to steal this idea.😉
@@TrainStopOnLStreet I bought seeds from Etsy when I first grew it, but currently I am using seeds that I saved from my plants. FoodForestSeeds on Etsy sells the seeds at certain times of the year. I recommend his shop! Thank you for watching !
Thanks for this video growing some this season didnt want to put in ground due to invasive nature. I'm in Houston growing must things in pots and raised beds, so I definitely feel you with the drying out of the pots.
I enjoy growing in pots but in the Summer heat they definitely require more maintenance! I am really pleased with how well this method worked and I’ll be trying the same again this year. Best of luck this growing season! Thanks for watching 🌱
Hello and wow. I just received some seeds and thank you so much for this video......Great video, great music and new subbie here........Blessings and Happy Gardening soil sister🌹
Jamaican Sorrel is a tropical plant and won’t make it through winter. I start new seeds to transplant out in early Spring, usually requires about 8-9 months to begin to flower. 🌱💚
I don’t fertilize it much at all! Last year I didn’t fertilize it at all and still got a few harvests. This year I’m trying to do a little better and I’ve used some Dr Earth’s liquid fertilizer and 511, but not often at all
Great video new subscriber you could just plant one plant in the pot and plant another herb as ground cover. Magnesium sulfate (Epsom salt) once a month will keep the leaves from turning yellow. Great content CHEERS
So I have mine in a pot. Its roots went through and it’s now also in the ground. It’s super big but I’m still waiting on flowers 😩 I’m zone 9a. When do you think it’ll start flowering?
Your plant should be just fine and they do get huge!! Jamaican Sorrel is daylight sensitive so as the days start getting shorter in Fall that is when they will start to bloom and flower🌺 Thanks for watching 🌱💚
Sorry, I don’t remember the exact soil I used, but I usually choose any organic potting soil that I find at the store. The white powder is Biotone starter fertilizer, the bag is pictured in the video. I have found that sorrel isn’t really picky and doesn’t require much, just warm weather and a long enough time in ground to grow. Thanks for watching!🌱💚
Are they really perennials in tropical areas? I just planted some in pots and now just reading that they require a decrease in daylight hours to flower!
To my knowledge there are 8 types of sorrel the one that in the West Indies bloom at Christmas aka the Christmas bush and others that take I think 8 weeks to flower 😂 don't quote me so it is important to know which variety you got
I got my sorrel seeds from a seller on Etsy, but that shop is closed now. I have had success with other seeds from Etsy when the sellers have good reviews. Happy Growing🌱💚
It is daylight sensitive and will start to flower when the days get shorter. Mine has already flowered for the season though, I am not sure why you aren’t getting any buds. Sorry to hear that!
@@VeggiePHARMing What’s the humidity/weather like where you are? I live in zone 9a Las Vegas, it’s dry heat mostly. Do you have any problems with the plastic breaking or cracking at all?
@@DanielleChao I am in zone 8A North Texas and we get lots of heat and not as much humidity. Most of my plastic pots are going on 3 years of use and I haven’t seen much cracking and break down, but there have been a few that I know will need to be replaced. This is my first year burying a pot in ground so I’m waiting to see if it breaks down any quicker, so far no issues!
Those plants are looking good. I might try this method 🤞🏿🤞🏿
Thank you! You should try it! I’ve had a lot of success with open bottom pots🌱💚

Cool. I need to plant some sorrel. My grandmother grows some in her backyard in Florida. Do you think it will grow well in NY Zone 7a?
