Lyrics:
[Chorus]
Scars and memories, Memories and scars, I look up in the sky and I wonder where you are.
Can't nobody diss my nigga, Damn, I miss my nigga.
Memories and scars, Scars and memories, talk to me kid cause I need some guidance please.
Can't nobody diss my nigga, Damn, I miss my nigga.
Scars and memories, Memories and scars, I look up in the sky and I wonder where you are.
Can't nobody diss my nigga, Damn, I miss my nigga.
[Grimm]I'm writing this letter from Lenox Hill Hospital. I'm so sorry, that I missed your funeral, but silhouettes of you are trapped inside my head, as I lay in ICU hangin on wishin I was dead. Tryin to convince someone to pull the plug and let it end, I lost my best friend, plus I'll never walk again. Now that you're gone, it really don't matter. Becomin a star, becomin a superstar. God threw rocks at my glass heart and it shattered, I look up in the sky and I wonder where you are. Cryin like a baby, starin atcha pictcha(picture), I'm mad at the world kid, I'm wishin I was witcha. The world is on my shoulders now the weight is kinda heavy, I loved my little shorty but my little shorty left me. In a few minutes time, with the help of a nine, I went from king of the rhymes to the victim of crime. I gotta stop, and wipe my tears G. Ayo J, respond, let me know you hear me.
[Chorus]
[J.Black] You will walk again, J. Black won't letcha down. As for rap, represent, and snatch the fuckin crown. Fuck(?) most these rappers, know they're not your friends, so don't wait for no rally(?), bring the noise straight to them. I don't give a damn if the nigga is ya idol, implant in his head that he better think survival. I don't give a fuck about his crew or the fame, each one of them niggas step to them and blow em off the frame.
[Grimm] But J I want the days, when we were just chillin, ridin around in cars, dressin nice, and countin millions.
[J. Black] Those days are over for us so understand, you my man, but it's time to step forward and represent the fam. Like I'm Jesus Christ, I'm payin for our sins. Take these niggas to war for me, let the games begin. I want you off the street cause the street is not the move(?). Don't let me die for nothin, test your skills, show and prove. Niggas think they ill, but show em you are iller. In the past yo we killed but wasn't raised to be no killers. Money and murder's hand in hand, it goes with territory. Manhattan war stories, what a price to pay for glory. Cash Rules...
[Both] Everything around us
[Grimm] But everyone around us is not down with us, they front, (?) surround us. There's jealousy, envy, niggas wanna hurt me, I can't move my legs, J so that shit just hurts me. Right now I'd be better off dyin G. I don't think that I can function in society, cause I paid the cost, you paid the cost, the family paid the cost, and now I'm feelin lost. Because you went away, and now my skies are gray, I don't know what to feel, I don't know what to say. I don't know what to do, I need you to impinge. My life is like a door, hanging off the hinge. I try to improvise, and go with the flow, but to my surprise, the flow is so slow. I'm really confused, advice you have to give, I'm not afraid to die but right now I'm afraid to live.
[Chorus]
[Grimm] I don't know my title so I'm a little sad man. What's the difference between a genious and a madman?
[J. Black] A genious is exceptional, he breaks down the whole. Mad men are not (?), they do have a goal. To be a genious or a madman is in your mind...
[Grimm] But is it possible for the two to intertwine?
[J. Black] Yes, when a genious uses poems(?) just to focus on crime, greed, or make nuclear bombs all the time.
[Grimm]In this materialistic world is there any kind of hope? (Nope) Will Catholics ever have a black Pope? I write rhymes like Riddler, list them like Schindler, alot of religious figures on this planet are just swindlers.
[J. Black] What do you see?
[Grimm] Sight beyond sight, those of twilight, the afterlife, a new world is what I'd like.
[J. Black] You don't like Commandments but just do them.
[Grimm] Aiight, but when you talk to God again could you give these questions to him?
[J. Black] They can't be too long, cause he's a busy man, so tell me about six, and I'll relay em if I can.
[Grimm] God, (one) Why's my mighty nation lost? (two) Why'd you let Jesus Christ be put on the cross? (three) Why's my people poor and oh so sore? (aiight) In harlem all I see is funeral homes and liquor stores. (four) Why'd you let the Indians get used and abused? (five) Why'd you let Hitler crucify all the jews? (aiight) some races will never see the best outta life, (true) it's like you made a big ass test outta life. I got love for you God, but could you explain to me (six) why you took my legs and J and dished out so much pain to me?
[J. Black] Don't stress it, kid. It's life, and not even death can seperate the love.
This is hip hop with a wise lesson,
"Don't stress it, kid. It's life, and not even death can seperate the love"
Dedicated to his brother in law who was shot the same time MF GRIMM was almost shot to death aswell, he is now paraplegic (unfortunately) this track also referenced to MF DOOM'S brother named Subroc, he unfortunately died tragically at a young age. Now this track relates so hard to MF DOOM himself.
Thank you for this
It was his brother Jay not brother in law.
It was his half brother not brother in law
Love to everyone, my mom passed on Monday from cancer. Lost many over the years as a combat veteran as well, keepin the love and loosing the hate
I can feel his pain but I don't know it like he does.
Great song.

Tyler .... And "him" losing his ability to walk .
@@Tyler-tr4hi his brother
Damn! GRIMM is his own genre of music. Stumbling upon this rap legend late in the game. I’m glad I did.
"I'm so confused. Advice you need to give. I'm not afraid to die, but right now I'm afraid to live"....
Amazing lyrics there by MF Grimm.
World class lyricism. The Alvaro Recoba of emceeing.
If this song don't hit you hard, you ain't human. I don't care if you hate hip-hop or love it as much as I do. This song would be right at home in a list of the 100 best hip-hop tracks ever. Easily.
"Not even death can seperate the love....", when I heard that at the end of the, no lie, but I almost cried, just thinkin about my lil bro when I hear this song.
This song is too real....
“I’m not afraid to die but right now I’m afraid to live”
I have listened to this track well over a hundred times now. So good.
This is the best song Grimm has done hands down, the man is a legend
this one goes out to my homie Daniel fuller 1991-2013

💜🙏🏼
hey bro.stay up homie. much loves.
Grandmaster only speaks the truth. 37 years old and this song gets me every time. Wisdom like this should be taught in public schools for cultural enrichment.
Every element in this song is overflowing with emotion
I've played this Song so many times in the last 12 Years & it's always been my favorite MF GRIMM song he's ever made. I haven't played it in a few years but I came across it right now & now this song makes me cry cause I lost my best friend last year in October. I like this song even more now. Rest In Peace Raul Chevez
Rip
I hope you are doing better bro
Thanks to my brother he introduced to me to a lot of underground music. As a girl sure I like a lot of music but underground and 80’s punk rock get me! I always find myself coming back to this song,,,, I remember listening when I was 18 losing my mom. I’m 31 now and I listen still missing my family and friends….
if someone is a true g in the rap business, then it's gotta be grimm
Grimm is raw for days.
Man, this shit fucks me up more now than it did 20+ years ago. That’s what separates hot shit from fundamental shit; you might hear a song from 50 years ago that makes you feel some type of way, but it’s very rare you hear a song from 50 years ago that you live heard and felt before you’ve ever even listened
"god threw rocks at my glass heart and it shattered"
just so damn good this guy
My Homie Carlo got murked two years ago now, miss that dude.
I love it when a artist has a past behind them because it let's them put their feelings and pain in a song.
grandmasta grimm, there's a rawness in your boy's flow that few rappers nowadays can capture.
"remember, mf grimm reaper lived it"...
Real official
not even death can separate the love
Damn I miss MF Doom
This production is an absolute masterpiece
These are deep lyrics and the beat matches this perfectly -It's crazy
Whoa man, I don't think I've ever felt anyone's pain this much through a song.
Classic. Grimm way too underrated.
This is too much. Beat, lyrics, all from the heart. Damn can you ever feel this track
damn grimm has been throught a lot of shit in his life. song touched me cuz when you hear what happened to him and his stepbrother, this shit he's rapping about is real stuff...respect for grimm
R.i.p to all our boys we miss..
Gonzalo Granados soldiers that didn’t make it RIP
I love this song
This song brought tears to my eyes. I miss my friends who have passed away.
this is music, this is how hiphop shoud be,
the way the Hiphop gods intended it to be
this song so real damn could shed a tear to this
‼️‼️
This is hip-hop with soul.
Right on bro soul & blues.
@@fizzypop8937 Boogiemonsters so slept on.
I look up in the sky and I wonder where you are..
He's one of my favorite rappers. I actually got to meet him across the street from the amoeba store in hollywood and he's got to be one of the coolest and humblest people you'll ever meet. I mean if your familiar with his music you'll know he always preaches about life due to his experiences and tribulations that he went through. If you don't know about this dude, don't sleep and check his stuff out.
man why is this not played on the radio...Because its real music
RIP MR. DOOM
Bro thats MF grimm.he is alive
This is easily one of the most thoughtful and emotional pieces of hip hop i have ever heard in my entire life. The whole song is just beautiful it almost makes me cry everytime i hear it. It's so incredibly vivid and cerebral. I love it. Not even death can separate the love.
Pure raw emotion. I've been listening to this song for almost 10 years and it still finds a way to hit my in the chest. Listening to this now makes me think about all the tough times in my life, the years gone by, and all the people in my life that aren't here right now. MF Grimm really laid his soul out on this track and it's so evident. If you can't feel that, then I don't know what to tell.
...it's life. This song is timeless
სანდრო, მენატრები.
san, miss ya erry day G!
movida maisi brodie.
there aren't too many songs that truly hit you where it hurts, but his is one of them. amazing....
Masterpiece
never gets old.
perfect combination of beat and lyricism..
sad song but optimistic and relaxed at the same time
This song hits different now. RIP MF DOOM.
"I'm not afraid to die but, right now, I'm afraid to live"
Damn.
Hits with all the bs going on huh
Damn. This song is deep. Tells such a story :'(
This song makes me really feel what hes rapping about, you can feel his pain, incredible song
Grimm deserves a Pulitzer Prize for his poetry! this really does hit u hard! even if u don't relate 2 it.
Very true
One of the best songs ever made.
just face it. grimm and DOOM are both good. they both got there own styles and both are true rappers. thats why i listen to both of them depending on what i feel like to listen to.
I felt the lyrics in a deep place that no music can ever touch
2021-20?? Before this got me through a lot
‘Not even death can separate the love.’
"I'm not afraid to die, but right now, I'm afraid to live" 😫
"Scars & memories, memories & scars. I look up at the sky & i wonder where you are..."
Happy Birthday to my homie Jarno Serrano R.I.P
Ss
I was listening to all these Grimm stuff like 2 years ago on RUclips and all the tracks had no comments and hardly any views.
It's really blown up since then, so great to see.
Rest in peace MF DOOM.
Timeless lessons like the one passed on from the elders generations after generations 2024 my boys will pass to their kids and so on
i don't normally listen to this style of music. but this is pretty good lyrics are deep and meaningful.
man this song is deep, and that beat...fuck, songs depressing but incredible, possibly the saddest song ive ever heard
one of my favorite hip hop songs
holy fuck....
To be a genius a madman is in your mind. Completely true
if this was released when it was ment to be in the 90's it would be known as one of the greatest hip hop songs all time. such a shame that his tapes got stolen.. :(
Yeah man, it would have made a huge impact especially the music video.
Scars n memories, memories n scars 🎵🎶
'What do you see'?
'Sight beyond sight those are twilight the afterlife a new world is what I like'.
why doesn't this have 1 million views like all those other mainstream artists? smh.
Shit makes me cry every time. Hits too close to home.
everytime i hear this song a tear comes out
Such a sad story. So much pain... I feel 4 Grimm
straight masterpiece. another level.
Them questions at the end really hit especially with everything happening right now. RIP to those who died from rona and to those being killed in Gaza, in the Congo, Sudan, in the Horn. Freedom to all oppressed people.
Wherever you are O2eR I love you ma Boy . Ya boy Sike Da Lok from West L.A
MF Grimm never said anything publicly about the death of MF DOOM which kind of had me looking at him different now. I am like yo wtf you got nothing to fucking say about DOOM. He was the main person I figured would have something powerful to say and nothing.
You should go look at the storys behind both them.
It is not up to the friends of beloved people to publicly address the death of their good friend for your amusement.
Go to his Instagram, he posted a tribute January 17th. Get your facts right
He 100% has spoke on it and has been adamant they ended the beef. Not our place to gossip. GM Grimm said they were cool. End of story.
beautiful pure poetry. amazing song.
❤
Man... when you read his comic this track hits a bit different
This song means a lot to me.. Lost my best friend too. Rip Chase ! Miss you bro.
damnnn still gives me goosebumps
It seems every time I lose someone I come back to this song
this beat's so cold... i feel like im in a graveyard
Underrated asf
Right now I’m better off dying g I don’t think I can function in society
Coz I paid the cost
You paid the cost
The family paid the cost
And now I’m feeling lost
Coz you went away
Now my skies are grey
I don’t know what to feel
I don’t know what to say 😭😭😭
I love you Smiley, scars & memories baby 😔
Not even death can separate love
I love this song! It's so powerful and emotional!
About as real as it gets
this is without a doubt one of the hottest beats I've ever heard.
Im not afraid to die, but right now im afraid to live.
Damn man.. that's some deep shit.
man, this just tears me up.
Deepest song I have ever heard.
Love your music MF Grimm the one and only loco from Sydney Australia the mad Brazilian :)
