I’m 58 and have been listening to Muddy all my life! Along with John Lee Hooker. You are the FIRST to react to him that I’ve seen. THANK YOU! It took British rock guys to come over here and wake people up to these dudes. I got to see Muddy right before he died thank God! I believe it was ‘78 or ‘79. Smallish rock and roll club that was PACKED. What a memory

      Your making me very jealous!
The closet I got was seeing Jimmy Rodgers in a small London club back in the late 90's..He reproduced the Muddy Chicago Blues sound beautifully.

Correction- they 'woke up' non-blues fan white people to Muddy and his peers.

My 22 year old nephew is a great guitar player. ONLY plays old blues. Muddy Waters is one of his heroes. He’s a blues snob at 22! Please play some Allman Brothers, Whipping Post, Stevie Ray Vaughn. You won’t be disappointed!

Testosterone coursing thru a young man's body learning to play the blues obsessively is very intoxicating. And common. 😏 It becomes all consuming,... but most come out of this phase. Some don't make it out of the obsession and become professional musicians. 😂 Yes on SRV and ABB.

I saw Muddy Waters at the Chapell Hill Blues(Texas) Festival in the summer of 1974. There were several other blues legends there. It was at a motocross park that was brand new. There were torrential rains all weekend. Power was intermittent and the few people that stayed had their vehicles stuck in the mud. Luckily we never ran out of beer as there were only 20 or so fans who stayed. Great show! I had very little historical context of what or who I was seeing at the time but it was awesome. My memory of Muddy was that he only did a few songs in during rain on a covered stage that leaking a lot by that point. It was all good. I have been a fan ever since. The motocross park and promoter went broke after the disastrous weather but I will always have the memories.

NEVER leave Uncle Ted hanging! Hey there, Mojo and, of course, my new hero Uncle Ted! Fantastic reaction, love Muddy myself! My personal favorite recording of this was from the 1977 album "Hard Again", featuring guitar work and production by the late, great, Albino Texas blues rocker extraordinaire, Johnny Winter. That's the version heard in films such as "Better Off Dead" and "GoodFellas".

An absolute pleasure watching you guys. I love Muddy Waters. Check the same song from his performance on The Last Waltz. I’ve always been stuck in that one, but this is one I hadn’t seen yet. Thanks Pops, for showing your boy, and for showing me! PS, I’m in! I subscribed. I have some suggestions for you, but I’ll wait a minute to see where you’re going here. Cheers and Rock!

When this song came out southern newspapers referred to black males - regardless of age - as boys. (While white women were called "ladies," black females were called "women.") Every time I listen to this song I here his defience as he reminds everyone he is a MAAHN.

If you haven't already, I hope you have a chance to listen to the whole Hard Again album by Muddy Waters. At that time Johnny Winters was recording and touring with him.
And you have to do songs from the Big Bad Wolf. Howlin' Wolf. Another time that the Rolling Stones showed respect was when they were asked to be in a TV show called Shindig. They said they would only do it if they had Howlin' Wolf on as well.
