Johnny Winter produced three albums for Muddy including Hard Again. Johnny was the yells at the kickoff as well as some of his usual guitar licks. What a collection of true geniuses.

The man is royalty! Check out him doing this with The Band at The Last Waltz concert. you can tell what a thrill the guys were having on stage with him. It’s just incredible.

You gotta check Him LIVE at Checkerboard Lounge doing "Baby Please Don't Go". A Young Rolling Stones band rolls in to take in the show from one of their heros. Muddy invites them on stage. You can see the nervousness in Mick's face initially......

Muddy Waters, real name McKinley Morganfield, is THE legend of Chicago and Delta Blues. His performance of "Mannish Boy" in "The Last Waltz" shows his passion and energy, even when he was well past his prime. The album "Hard Again" was produced by another Blues Legend, Johnny Winter, and those are his yells you hear in the background, and foreground. Proud to say I've had this album in my collection for decades.

Such a classic. The version in the Last Waltz film is a great watch as well. He had a real stage presence. But also one of the greats of Delta Blues, later moving to Chicago and being one of the pioneers of Chicago blues.

Johnny Winter is Muddy's hype man on this track, with all the yelling in the background. He's playing guitar too.

Hard to believe the man was in his late '60's when this was recorded. Muddy's original version was in the mid '50's, but I honestly think this Johnny Winter produced 1979 rendition was even better. And how cool is Muddy's voice. Unbeatable.
Please man, do some Howlin' Wolf next baby. "Smokestack Lightning" or "Commit A Crime" or "You Gonna Wreck My Life" or "Moaning In The Moonlight" or "Spoonful" or "Back Door Man".

Yes, more blues please. I love it when you delve into roots music. The influence these black, American bluesmen had on early rock is beyond measure.
Check out from Muddy "You Need Love" which was covered by Small Faces as "You Need Lovin", which inspired Zep to cover their version with "Whole Lotta Love". It's fun to go back to hear the original inspiration. So many later rock songs started with these bluesmen.

This is a re-recording of his 1955 tune released on Chess Records. The original is the definitive version, although this is fine too. Johnny Winter helped Muddy to get a revival with these late 70’s rerecordings. Original song writing credits are Morganfield (Muddy), London (Producer) and McDaniel (Bo Diddley) and the song is an answer song to Diddley’s I’m a man.

This is a CLASSIC blues song from Muddy Waters. Some friends and I did a road trip from Memphis to New Orleans. We stopped in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Muddy Waters grew up just outside Clarksdale. Being fans, we asked some guys at a gas station if any of his relatives live in town. They pointed down the street and said his sister lives down there in that house. Excited, we knocked on the door but got no answer. The sister might have looked at us and said, no way I'm answering that door, or maybe she wasn't home. Clasksdale is just a few miles away from the Mississippi River. There's a 'feel' to the place down there, the Mississippi Delta just feels different. Another great song is Got My Mojo Workin

Love this riff falling on you like a ton of bricks! Muddy said there was a time when he had to decide wether he was gonna be a blues singer or a preacher and he chose the blues. Here he sounds like a blues preacher! This version comes from the late 70es but he had recorded it previously in the fifites with the band he had back then, with Little Walter on harmonica and Otis Spann on piano.Check the song "I´m ready" with that band, you can´t go wrong! Peace!

One of the true OG's of the Blues...the great Muddy Waters. This album was produced by Johnny Winter who also played guitar on it and you hear him doing the background screams in this tune. The title of the album came about when they were listening to the playback in the studio of the tracks and they knew they were hot so Muddy said '...these songs make me feel hard again' and the name 'Hard Again' stuck for the title.

This whole album is great. I think it’s from 1977. Johnny Winter does a great job. They play the old songs, and Muddy gets his old energy back, and it’s just a great collaboration. “The Blues Had a Baby and They Named It Rock and Roll” is great, and “Can’t Be Satisfied” was covered by The Rolling Stones.
