People still don’t seem to know the difference between soft reset/hard reset. Soft reset is the button method that doesn’t affect data loss Hard reset refers to factory resetting. That’s why it’s called hard reset because it’s a wipe of your system

your best no-charge advice is to hard reset? Seriously? 99% of cases of non-charging are due to a broken mosfet from the motherboard during improper battery or screen replacement. BTW, the iPhone in the recording is not the iPhone 8..... embarrassing.

ive had one sitting in my drawer for a few years planning to fix it and never was able to figure out what's wrong with it. it wont turn on at all, no apple screen, no dead battery screen, nothing. it feels like theres so many possible things it could be and im not sure how to fully narrow it down. any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Have you tried reset the phone? You can connect it to the computer and see if iTunes or Finder can detect your phone.

Try using a known good charging cable and charger to connect your phone to wall power outlet. Then, force restart your phone.

Do you do forced restart correctly? Quick press the Volume up, Volume down, and then keep holding the Power button until you see Apple logo.
Mine will show the Apple logo for a few seconds and then cut off when I force restart
