As a student who has taken an AP Exam and did not consider cheating because of the consequences, I will leave this information for those who are considering cheating on specifically a STEM type AP exam and also a humanities exam in hope that this convinces you otherwise: On May 12th I took the AP Calculus AB exam. I studied quite a lot, so the test was quite easy. Afterwards, I Face-Timed a group of my friends who also took the exam to discuss. Here's the information I received: There are AT LEAST 4 different versions of a STEM exam. To add on, each of these versions has a bunch of different sub-versions with different numbers. I have either video called or messaged over 40 people who took the AB exam, and while some of them had the same type of question (for examples, the coin problem), not one of them had the same numbers in their questions as me. My guess is of the four types of questions, each had over 25 versions with the numbers flipped around. Not only is cheating wrong, but College Board is making it extremely difficult (I honestly believed that the 45 minute time limit adds on to the difficultly of cheating). Sure, you can hire someone to take the test for you. That's an easy fix, right? Consider the consequences. I'm sure it would be even more severe if you do that, and you might not be able to go to college at all. Hell, some kid took other people's SATs and got arrested! Also, if you're in a humanities course and are thinking of calling a friend during the exam, why? It's a 45 minute essay. Colby Garnett for apush they had like 4 different prompts and multiple sets of documents for each one, and in my chem class everyone had different questions too
It'd be awful if someone would blackmail others into saying that they are cheating. Imagine your arch rival in school reporting you just because they hate you.... Or imagine receiving an email from people scanning the web for your information telling you they know who you are and they can report you to CollegeBoard.
So, I will be having an AP Chemistry exam at 1 PM today, and if I am being honest, I would rather take a 15 question one in school over the two question one at home.
As a college student, there is usually some sort of due process for cheating. If you are caught cheating, the prof gives you a 0 on the assignment and reports you to the committee and there is a literal court-style hearing. Cause cheating is really bad in college. However, there is a lot of condoned "cheating" a lot of profs will let you use the internet for online exams because the point of the exam isn't about how much stuff you can remember, it's about your understanding of the subject. But I think a lot of these exams are taken a lot more seriously than college exams, I've never had to unseal a test booklet in college. Cause I mean at the end of the day, if you didn't learn what you needed to learn it's your life that's gonna be affected.

We had uncovered several students different schemes with evidence and testimony to how they had planned it. We couldn't go into names and did not go publicly into the detail of the method or scheme, and we didn't name publicly who did, but we proactively gave them an academic review and failed them for that assignment, based on the seriousness of their plan and how they had tried to execute it, as well as conspiring to convince others to. We just put a warning out in case anyone had heard of the method, or if others had planned similar. All those who attempted were given a fair review but had "pled guilty" and forfeited those assignment points.
It's a scare tactic. I know College Board well, and I hate the College Board (mostly for other reasons). I graduated high school in 2019, therefore not taking AP exams, but they should know that this is what happens when AP exams are put online. People are going to cheat. I've cheated (not on College board tests) before. It's inevitable. You can reduce the amount of people doing it, but you can't completely clear it.
There was similar case in South Korea about legislation of "planning to kill" law. Such a spontaneous world-wide phenomenon trying to control over what individuals THINK!
These exams are open note, and I've heard from multiple places that it's open everything except for another person. I only plan on using my notes but still...
@@computerfraudandabuseactof43 the college board said googling is not considered cheating, the cheating I was referring to was using discord on another computer and sharing answers with others
The College Board said they would be "checking social media" to find any students that cheat. It's hard to believe that they would have the ability to check the social media accounts of the more than one million students who take AP exams each year. It seems like they are trying to scare students a little too much for it to be realistic. I personally think that what they are saying about checking social media is untrue. However, I'm sure they will be running the responses through a series of detection software to prevent cheating, which is why it still wouldn't be a good idea.
@@Amber-be9pe Not as bad as you might think . Conspiracy requires multiple people(check) who plan to go through with the crime, in our analogy, cheating, (which is debatable, but here the burden of proof would most likely rest on the defendents), and requires an overt act towards furthering that goal after the conspiracy has been formed. In this case, exchanging phone numbers would count, or another form of communication, but continuing to joke about it would not. Ofc, College Board is a private company that isn't bound by criminal law.

Planning to cheat doesn't warrant any banning from future exams or score canceling. Admissions officers should not be notified; the conflict is between the student and the collegeboard, not the colleges.
If people cheat, get away with it and get good grades then clearly they are doing something right. Schools should teach kids how to Cheat responsibly. What test will ever ask you not to go for a bathroom break? Once you're there it's open season. Get out your phone and look up anything you want.

If someone today does that same thing on Twitter, then it’s a signed sealed confession. Ridiculous. I just don’t know how they found “evidence “ without perusing Facebook or Twitter for such nonsense.

No b/c you typically send AP scores to the college you finally commit to, you don't really send them out to all the colleges you apply to because its a pretty big waste of money. I didn't report any of my AP scores on my applications despite the fact that I took 13 in high school, and I got into big name schools like BU. You'll be fine

The Great King of Evil Ganondorf I don’t think it’s going to be millions of students lol at most maybe a few hundred thousand. But collegeboard has money and resources and they also limited the file size you can upload, so it shouldn’t be an issue
ddos themselves, that's how.
Annabeth Yeung I didn’t consider that, fair enough.
Yoooo why is Tom Richey drinking water in a mug??🤨🤨
NatsuFan 123 yea saw it and was so confused
Because he is Richey and he can do what he wants
Nazgul Seeker of the ring
True. He is the God of History itself. Bow down to the Lord🙇♀️🙏
NatsuFan 123 what’s wrong with that? I drink my water out of a mug
@@purpleontop2133 there's nothing wrong with it, it's just that you usually drink hot drinks in a mug, like coffee or tea
Its impossible to cheat honestly because they give people different tests...
No they don’t bro what😂
Colby Garnett for apush they had like 4 different prompts and multiple sets of documents for each one, and in my chem class everyone had different questions too
One device is the exam. Another is for googling.
How did they find out?
they didnt, empty threat
Baskin Robbins always finds out.
They’re putting false information on the internet on purpose apparently. So now I can’t even find a definition on the internet
Me: are you challenging me
AP Gov test is 25 minutes for 1 question and 15 min for another with an additional 5 min to upload your answer. There isn't even enough time to cheat
melaniiee yang i agree, i don’t think it’s even worth it to have notes.
It'd be awful if someone would blackmail others into saying that they are cheating.
Imagine your arch rival in school reporting you just because they hate you....
Or imagine receiving an email from people scanning the web for your information telling you they know who you are and they can report you to CollegeBoard.
I do not fear Collegeboard, but I do fear AP Physics C...
So, I will be having an AP Chemistry exam at 1 PM today, and if I am being honest, I would rather take a 15 question one in school over the two question one at home.
Innocent until proven otherwise. Freedom of speech. Also false positives combined with fearmongering seems like a horrible way to conduct business.
Here I am trying to figure out how TF you're supposed to cheat on frqs.
RUclips recommended me this a couple hours before my ap exam.... they know.
Collegeboard is the new McCsrthyism
Tom: make videos about "Planning to cheat AP?"
Collegeboard: WE GOT EM BOYS!
Right when I heard they were still doing AP exams, first thing I thought was “there’s no way possible to prevent cheating”
College board you can’t fuck with me I got a notification for this video pop up onto my lock screen
“Better to be feared than loved” Machiavelli hahaha
on the apreddit a long while ago i joked about making an ap discord but was like “sigh if only” but i wouldn’t because i can’t write or think in a call with people tbh. i’d be so upset if my score was cancelled because i was joking. just took ap gov today and have calc tomorrow and have lit the next day
Goddamn that threat lvl midnight was god tier
If you answer suspiciously they send your answers to your teacher to compare your writing with your past tests (at least for chem)
How tf do you cheat while writing an essay in 45 minutes.
I would cheat, but it would take more time trying to cheat than to actually take the exam
Nigward Testicles Googling a term you forgot takes like 15 seconds
@@computerfraudandabuseactof43 the college board said googling is not considered cheating, the cheating I was referring to was using discord on another computer and sharing answers with others
Collegeboard specifically stated you are allowed to search stuff up on the internet. Just don’t work with other people and you’re fine.
Cheating would just be plain stupid
Collegeboard is literally the thought police from 1984
Big Brother is watching you.
Planning to commit a crime is not illegal, committing the crime is illegal. (as far as I know lol)
loc lavender well u could go to jail for conspiracy to commit murder lmao
@@bananalover5573 ig so, guess it was a bad analogy.
Ofc, College Board is a private company that isn't bound by criminal law.
what if someone sued college board for emotional distress or damages (i know nothing about how the law would work don’t @ me)over Trevor Packer’s tweet?? just a thought.....
I took the AP exams in 2018. Please please please CHEAT! As long as you're not recorded CHEAT. The test is ridiculously hard and unfair, especially AP chem.
I think that it's unfair to cancel someone's exam just because they were reported. Like I've been reported for doing crazy things that have been completely untrue and gotten in serious trouble.
AP Conspirators v. College Board 2020
Planning to cheat doesn't warrant any banning from future exams or score canceling.
Admissions officers should not be notified; the conflict is between the student and the collegeboard, not the colleges.
welcome to the college board watchlist yall
If people cheat, get away with it and get good grades then clearly they are doing something right.
Schools should teach kids how to Cheat responsibly.
What test will ever ask you not to go for a bathroom break? Once you're there it's open season. Get out your phone and look up anything you want.
I would just like to inform everyone that i will NOT cheat on this exam even tho it would NOT be hard. Once again, i will NOT cheat on this exam. :)
Well I have a question, what and how is considered cheating in their eyes?
reconxb xb you can do anything you want on this exam, just dont plagiarize and dont get caught communicating with others. which means the exam is open note and you can TECHNICALLY use the internet, but using the internet would be too much work.
Gabe Halaby how do you get caught communicating
Jordan Brewster dinosauce313 on reddit lmao
when machiavelli said its better to be feared than loved, collegeboard reallyyyy took it seriously. they know their students all hate them, yet they're doing stuff like this to scare us. and its lowk working ngl
“hey there students” ??? :(
Before Twitter, if I did better than someone who expected outperform me on a test, when they asked how I did it, knowing they thought I cheated, I would say I cheated. If someone today does that same thing on Twitter, then it’s a signed sealed confession. Ridiculous. I just don’t know how they found “evidence “ without perusing Facebook or Twitter for such nonsense.
u/dinosauce313 is a literal child entrapment sting operation by collegeboard
I won't be surprised if someone brings a case against the College Board for violating their 4th Amendment rights. Because what is College Board's place in looking through people's social media data? I don't understand.
The fact that some people actually are trying to cheat is kind of sad. Why would you risk it when you know what will happen?
Im worried about the cheating aspect. Everything ive learned is because of google. Every time i studied i would take notes from google. How will that reflect on my ap exam. Obviously my answers are going to be similar to that of those websites i studied from. And i already have an incident like this happen, where my answer matched that of a website even though i never entered to that website. Im worried i'll be accused of plagiarism when i didnt even plagiarized
Same
So say I take a few AP’s in high school, and get real unlucky and don’t pass any of the exams, but don’t report the AP test scores to colleges, and everything else on my application looks good...Will it hurt my chances getting into a school if the admission officers see that I don’t have any reportable AP Test scores for credit on my application even if they see that I took the AP classes and got A’s in them???
That's a good question. I'm just gonna rant here cause why not. So I applied and payed for the AP exam in November and it turns out I won't be able to take it anymore because my teacher said I wasn't registered. I'm so sad and frustrated. wasted so much time studying. So in a way, is not taking the ap exam ruining chances of getting into college? Someone let a girl know.
No b/c you typically send AP scores to the college you finally commit to, you don't really send them out to all the colleges you apply to because its a pretty big waste of money. I didn't report any of my AP scores on my applications despite the fact that I took 13 in high school, and I got into big name schools like BU. You'll be fine
mimi s haha so basically taking AP exams isn’t for something that looks really good...? It’s just to give u college credit for classes u don’t want to take again?
@@heyitswahoo3514 Yup! If you take enough that the schools you want to go to say qualify as gen eds or electives you could easily omit your freshman year & quickly start major requirement classes
I was just ranting to my friends about how this is like minority report
I love Minority Report! I was totally thinking about that movie too this is crazy
Depends.
I’m not even an ap student and I’m scared 😳
don’t cheat guys it’s not worth it.
I don't even know why I'm watching this. I'm a 23 year old college grad, but this news is kind of interesting. I've been wondering how schools have been functioning with all the quarantine stuff going on.
Ah yes soviet AP Exams.
Hopefully he’s right cause I asked others if they want to but never ended up doing it
i'm never going to cheat. i would feel *way* to guilty.
*its cheating in school. But called collaboration in industry*
Lmao loved the Office reference 😂😂😂
even if the students decide to cheat in a group it would NOT be possible. College Board has multiple versions for the AP It is highly unlikely that you and your friends will get the same version.
I got this in my recommended literally ten minutes after I took my ap test
the office reference made me calm lolll
College Board is the new Minority Report
Collegboard can’t access camera and microphone right
