how is their overall quality? I can't seem to find a lot of reviews on them. I have a 2005 mini cooper convertible that has a slipping clutch and I need to have it replaced. I'm thinking about getting an FX200 from Clutch Masters but a lot of people told me that a racing clutch is a bitch to drive with since the pedal is harder to press down and it's rough. I'm going to be moving from Buffalo to Charleston (or around Charleston) this summer and the traffic there is a bitch. Would it be better to go with the stock clutch or get an FX200 from Clutch Masters? I can be an aggressive driver and I heard a high performance clutch can take more abuse. We're most likely going to drive all three of our cars down and I get smoke sometimes depending on how I drive it so it'll need to be replaced before we leave.

Stock should be fine. Unless you really are going to race it a lot and jam the gears hard.

Chad Christian but I've read a lot of articles about the stock clutch in minis. They're problematic, some people actually had to have them replaced again after 6000 miles and the dealership didn't cover it because they claimed it was from abusive driving habits and some of my habits are... well... abusive. like when I first got the car (I know this was a really bad method) but to keep from stalling, I would rev it up to 3000 rpms and then let go of the clutch. I did this for the first few months I had the car until I finally got it down. I still stall every now and then but I still sometimes give it more gas than it needs before I even begin to release the pedal. I really don't mind if it's harder to press down just as long as it doesn't cause any other problems. I also noticed a new clutch needs a break in period where you shouldn't do certain things until that period is up. Out of curiosity, what would happen if you were to ignore what it says to do during the break in period?

You would reduce the life of the clutch if you don't do the break in period correctly.

Chad Christian that's what I figured. Thanks!

Jesse Hooton do not get this clutch for city driving. I out a fx350 in my Porsche and guess what it's coming out way to hard to drive in the city. it all most made me sell the car. for the track it would of bin great.

Question do you need to change the flywheel when getting a performance clutch??

I love my FX350 on the H22As (lightly built) T2W4 JDM transmission in my 01 Prelude... But I was thinking about trying something else this time (shying away from the Pure Kevlar, Kevlar/Organic & Kevlar Carbon... As well as the copper/organics, copper/cerametallics cause of the dust copper emits like nasty brake dust (Exedy & ACT Sells)).
What about the Carbon Kevlar (mix material) like SPEC has? They also make a Carbon-Graphite, Carbon Cerametallic, & Carbon Semi-Metallic... What's your intake on this? Running up to 300-400 ft. Lbs Tq Max on the street... Obviously all I'm talking about are Single Sprung Discs here as any higher I'll most likely have to go with a Competition Clutch, OS Giken, SPEC, Clutch Masters or Exedy Twin ...
NO SINGLE RIGIDS good for Transmission or city driving!

I have a FX300 on my GTI, I put new transmission oil at the dealer and after that the car is so much smoother and better, 95% back to stock NVH. The only time I (barely) notice is when accelerating in first or slowing down.
