    Because they put this in a wacky order, I'm going to just put timestamps for the different exercises.
    1:02 Modified Bridge Pilates Exercise
    2:48 Jumps
    4:59 Pointe Shoe Combination
    6:00 Simple Plie Barre Combination
    8:33 Adagio at the Barre
    Order that these would go in if this video was edited in a sensible manner:
    6:00 Plies
    8:33 Adagio
    1:02 Pilates
    2:48 Jumps
    4:59 Pointe
    (I think you could switch the adagio and the pilates but this makes more sense because both the plies and the adagio are at the barre. If it was a center adagio, then pilates would definitely come first imo)

    Sometimes I think about how many members of The Academy thought that Natalie Portman learned all of ballet in a couple months for the movie Black Swan. And then I see a real ballerina and you can see the LIFETIME of training in every muscle 😭

    • @sahtification
      @sahtification 4 года назад +24

      @ComaBerenices it's Mary from Ballet Beautiful, she has a business and teach classes with the exercises Natalie did
      Victoria secrets models are some of the students, and some has dancers bodies
      Natalie did a lot for her, she always mentions the coach work

    • @joyb9373
      @joyb9373 4 года назад +84

      @@sahtification I would agree that Natalie mentioned and credited Mary Helen Bowers (founder of Ballet Beautiful), who coached her and helped her develop a ballerina looking physique. . but Natalie (and the production) did not mention or credit her dance double in the film, Sarah Lane- (who like Isabella Boylston, is a principal dancer with ABT).
      A big part of Natalie's academy award "for your consideration" campaign had to do with promoting the idea that Natalie did all her own dancing and went from being a non dancer to being en pointe dancing in this film, a feat worthy of actings highest honors. But Sarah Lane did all the dancing in the film and Natalie's face was superimposed on, she was not allowed to talk about her involvement, something that she did not know would be required when she signed on. The Ballet world (especially in 2009) was very insular, and felt this was a betrayal of professional dancers's skills and life's work. This was such a moment in pop culture-so seldom that dance movies come out- that obviously, ten years on-people are still commenting about Black Swan in random youtube ballet videos.
      For a comparison, Red Sparrow, (2018) acknowledged that Isabella Boylston was Jennifer Lawrence's dance double, including her in special features, articles, publicity footage, etc. That was a better way to handle the situation.

    It must be tough being a professional dancer and being confined to your apartment. They're making the best of it, but when you're used to rehearsing all day long...man, hard to keep your strength up.

    How do you warm up and do you stretch?
    You should do a guide to dancing ballet for absolute beginners!
    I can move to a rythm but this is what I look like in my mind!😂

    My ballet school posts videos of our teachers everyday so we can keep on practising, it's great but I do miss real classes, the camaraderie and laughs. Yet it is weirdly comforting to see a professional dancer doing just about what I do on my living room, and especially to see how her ankles wobble ever so slightly when doing a relevé on demi-pointes in second ! My ankles wobble just like Isabella Boylston's, imagine that !🤣

    I enjoy watching professional dancers share their life with everyone. Thanks for giving a recap on the "modified bridge" . . OWCH! But really you made everything look effortless. I'll gladly purchase tickets when you are going to perform on stage. ;)
