Darlington is badass, old school NASCAR. I went to the Southern 500 in 1987 and 2018. Already have tickets for the spring race next year. Every fan of the sport needs to go there once for an unforgettable experience. The museum behind the backstretch stands is great for those that want to get a feel for the history of the track.
Obaika got screwed over by the charter system. They were faster than the chartered cars at Talladega 2018 but they didn't get in because the charter system sucks. That pretty much started the descent of the team.
Absolutely Eric!!!! I've been watching NASCAR since 1986, Darlington has always been 1 of my favorite tracks. I always look forward to Darlington race weekend. Great video as always Eric. Thank you for continuing to show your time at the races for those who aren't able to attend. Keep up the AWESOME videos
@@Racingclipsandpics not at all... The sound of the blown diffuser was due to the throttle being left a bit open in order to increase the amount of exhaust exiting the engine, then directed to the diffuser. The actual diffuser didn't have anything to do with the sound.
My first time back to Darlington since I was a kid with my dad and im 52 now.. To be honest I didn't recognize the NG Mustang until after it had past us sitting in turn 4. We heard an awesomely loud v8 sound down towards the start/finish line and we're like 'was that Mustang the NG Car!!" Seeing this video is exactly what I'm been looking since the race! Thank you Eric!!! We will be going back to Darlington for sure !!
I can agree Eric Darlington is a must see event, I got to go in 2020. It literally gave me an old school vibe with the bleacher seat setup, it kinda felt like a local short track, or dirt track
I’ve been to Darlington 4 times - twice in the spring and for the first 2 throwback weekends. Great track! One of my favorites! Side note: the first time I went in 2012, a blind lady was inspecting coolers and backpacks.
I was at this race and I wish I could have caught up with you. This is my home track and I attend races here as often as I can. Thanks for visiting the Lady in Black.
Some insight on why so many tracks run out of water: I work as a manager at a grocery store & handle all the orders. We’ve been told by our supplier that the big brands Nestle, Ice Mountain, Desani & Aquafina, are all having production issues. Which is making it difficult for us, or anybody to get any water. When we do, we only receive maybe 10-20% of what we order.. I can’t speak for SMI or ISC or whomever is responsible for track concessions, but I imagine they’re having similar issues. Which is likely why you’ve noticed the trend of running out of water so quickly.
I still wish throwback weekend is on the southern 500. I mean, that race could be on every Nascar fan's bucket list, but not for me. I live in Owensboro KY, not south Carolina. Just can't attend race in stands. Also, my favorite Nascar driver got fined for $50,000 for accident on pit road that was too intentional after the race.
Gosh I really do need to put this on my bucket list now that I think about it. Martinsville was supposed to be next, but that got canceled and I went to Bristol. So now I'm going to Daytona.
There's nothing like the smell of a race track! They used to have a parade in the city of Darlington with an Official Ms. Darlington Trophy Girl...lol The city was like a big fairground, it must not be like that anymore? Btw, next-gen car has exhaust running out both sides and current Cup car has everything blowing out the right side, it will sound different...lol
Seeing those Chicken Tenders my first thought I miss Bojangles as a sponsor there. Atleast Charlotte has it up the road North of the Border no not the place.
Always look foward to your vlog videos at all the different tracks. What type of camera do u use to record? Wanted to know if its a phone or a camera. Keep up the awesome work bro😁
@@EricEstepp Ok sweet thats a good choice , I like the point and shoots as well. I basically do the same type of videos as you but for Monster Jam for awhile now and use my s21 or I have a camera similar to urs. If u ever have the funds saved up and need a new one , the sony rx100vii or Sony ZV1 take incredible footage and mic quality is great👍🍕
Checked this race off my list years ago. Will never forget all of the angry Junior fans when I left after seeing Harvick beat him. Darlington is a fantastic track and is one we must never lose!
My birthday is September 3rd. I went to see the Southern 500 in 2003 for my 10th birthday. I have relatives that live in Darlington that probably go past the speedway every day and ever since the first year back in the Labor Day time slot in 2015, I have had the Southern 500 night race on my bucket list. I live only one hour from the Darlington track and I feel like in the next couple of years I will be there at the track to see the Southern 500 night race.
random thought after seeing next gen... do you think more teams will start using painted wheels more with the NG? like penske does. I would like to see it, i think it would be a nice touch to tie paint schems together.
Was there in 1997 . O how I hated Jeff Gordon. Today almost 25 years later I realize how good he really was. That was back in the Winston days he won a million dollars that day.
Did you hear and see the false rumors of Matt d going to kauling racing 2022??? Can matty d almost trying to hide it and this could be true matty d joining kauling in 2022 is a great fit . All that team wants to do is go for wins . But it was false rumors unfortunately. Hopefully matty d finds ride soon
I wish Steve Phelps & O'Donnell would go back to the NFL. We don't need them signaling their virtue. They're driving away older fans that don't need virtual reality experience or gimmicked up races with stages or playoffs to crown a champion if he wins certain races instead of having to constantly perform week after week
Being my home track and a track I grew up five miles away from. I’m always so proud to support this track every since I was 5 years old.
What do you recommend to a foreign couple that Will be watching the Race for the First time? And other Nascar stuff até the city? Tks

Honestly, my favorite part about about races, is seeing all the different kinds of fan gear. 👌
That’s my wife and I in the blue hats at 10:41! This was our first time to darlington from Missouri. We looked everywhere for you Eric lol.
Eric has traveled to more track just this year than Obaika Racing has for their whole career… lol
Obaika got screwed over by the charter system. They were faster than the chartered cars at Talladega 2018 but they didn't get in because the charter system sucks. That pretty much started the descent of the team.

That NextGen sounds like a fleet of bombers. You can barely hear the current ones going by but that nextgen was roaring.
I think its because of the diffuser it reminds me the old blown diffusers in f1 years ago

I really want to go the to southern 500, but I love going to the bristol night race
The husband and wife who drive and work the Kyle Busch merch hauler are awesome. I talk to them at every race I go to - very nice people!

MIS ran out of water for a while during the cup race when I was there. Thanks for another great video!
Waiting on NASCAR to release the full 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Schedule. Looking forward to the Inaugural WWTR 400 at Gateway though.
Met you in the infield during your filming of this video such a standup guy

It's like being AT the race. And I thank you for that. Your story is inspiring my guy.
i am so glad i got the chance to go to this race. i would have love to meet you in person but maybe next time
Glad I was here. Super fun race
See yah in Vegas! I'll be camping all weekend 😁
We were there in 2018. The Race Way Grill has the best burger. Got to met Donnie Allison there
I was at this race. I saw you in the grandstands. I considered saying hello, but I figured you didn’t want to see the race interrupted lol 😂
I was there. And in definitely going again
I definitely going to this years race, thanks for the video.
12:54 ayeee alex bowman fans right there! Lezzgo #48.
I like the sound of the new car. It seems like Eric likes it less than the gen 6 car.
The gen 7 car has that nice crackle sound i love. Not a rumble like a 1972 Monte Carlo but close
15:49 Larson’s blown a tire, AGAIN!
they said that it was only there saturday and btw i loved meeting you there i was the dude with the drawing of out of the groove
Since the southern 500 is a crown jewel nbc should give it to us on main nbc like cough cough fox
the next gen sounds like an australian V8 Supercar
pretty awesome when u see urself twice in an Eric Estepp video
Then there's me at the Richmond snoozefest...
At least I was able to see the Xfinity race which was pretty fun to watch
Yea I went there once and I agree.
wow, I would love to go there . Great job
Glad I got to meet u at my home track
That chicken & fries basket was probably $25. Bottled water was $6 when I went to COTA lol Worth it. Prepare for it. This all looks worth it too.
How were you able to roam the garage or even watch the truck race from the pit lane??

Thanks Eric awesome stuff
Was all of the access you got pre-race through the pre-race experience pass? Or do you need more to see the garage and inspections?
Love your content!
Come hang out with me at Kansas!
I took my own water with me last week end
I could tell you had a great time
I didn't expect this video to be released a week after Darlington tbh
Please tell me you least tried Cookout while down there?
Going this year
Holy shit I was in the video
I WAS THERE THAT DAY!!!!!!!
great video
Did you find any NASCAR diecasts?
Great vídeo
The fire works 😂 “uh”
Eric welcome to my house NASCAR track. i live in Myrtle Beach which is not that far from Darlington
Eric are you going to talladega?
Bring back the Brickyard a crown jewel!
I cancelled my plans for going to Indy because no Brickyard next year! I also cancelled Daytona plans because of the Clash being taken out of Daytona!
This was fun
Eric will you be at bristol i will be there
i miss it so much

Eric stop uploading. I have to study for my Quiz on Ancient Mesopotamia

No, NASCAR tracks encourage you to bring in coolers and beer, soft drinks, water, etc.
