I'm going to be honest, I don't know how you don't get 10x more views on your lifting vids. This content is far and away better than a lot of stuff out there.
6’1” and long leg gang, with the exact same issues. Struggle with the first initial inches off the ground, yet I’m confident that if I get it higher I will lock it out. Deficits seem to be best over pause deadlifts or any other variation for me
That’s a new axle bar on the top rack… can’t find a video of that on your channel can’t wait to see that. Also good tips on this video thanks for the info
I'll give that a shot when I'm home in a few weeks. I was planning on adding in my belt squat also to help with overload on my legs doing the same thing with the squat. Thanks for the idea
I used to have insane speed off the floor... then I got covid this summer, and my deadlift still hasn't recovered. Thought I was on my way to a PR, but alas, my pulls feel grindy as heck off the floor now. Got advised to implement deficit deadlifts. Having fun with them per now. Nice with some novelty that also serves a very specific purpose.
I've always felt deficits were really useful. I think I just get extra conscious of my setup when I have to reach down further. I've even done the last few weeks before a meet with deficits on my secondary day and my deadlift went really well.
Switch up your program or work on your weaknesses. Google Ortmayer Magnusson Deadlift program. It’s an excel sheet where you plug in your max. I run it usually once a year or so and never fails to bump up my numbers
Eat more. Also what Brandon said. It helps to vary the weight, reps, and sets or periodize it. I personally like 531 or GZCL or any program with an all out AMRAP (As Many Reps as Possible) top set. I just enjoy the act of maxing out because it's just fun for me. It's also easier to track progress, and it provides the greatest stimulus for strength gains (but it can increase injury risk).
I've been doing deficit deadlifts consistently in my Juggernaut BJJ strength training app programing and my deadlift numbers have been going up since. I have done snatch grip deads before but they just put me in such a weird position I sometimes don't feel they are worth the effort and IMHO injury.
Are nylon lifting belts as effective as hybrid (leather & nylon) lifting belts ? Asking becasue I am a 5’6 lifter and the all leather 10mm belts cause a lot of discomfort
I think bc our hips are generally higher it’s harder for me to engage legs, but with deficits I squat down a bit more and get a bit more push out of it.
I personally like using 35s over 1 25 and 1 10. It feels a teeny tad easier to balance with the weight distribution less spread out, which can make certain lifts a tad easier to perform in theory.

got to agree, excellent stuff. you got some really good stuff too
It’s the peloton 😂
Yeah man think he pull mid 600s that’s crazy strong. Soon to be the ALL Masters Records Holder in RI
@houseofguards2391 by that same token, most people also don’t lift. Maybe he should do cell phone videos then basically everyone has those.
Collab with blackpink for better promo hahahaha
The fact that you can do these in one take is the most underrated part of the videos. Why you don’t have 500k+ subscribers boggles my mind.
Appreciate the kind words. I don't have time to mess up 🤪
I’ve been using a financial deficit but this seems far more effective. 😂
Great to see you back, hope you enjoyed your holiday mate!
Very much so, upgraded my laptop over the break and the new one wasn't in so didn't have a way to edit lol.
@@BasementBrandon utilised a healthy company discount for the new one no doubt haha
When you've got T-Rex arms, they're all deficit deads.
Facts
Love to see it!
Better than halting, which are miserable!
@@BasementBrandon miserable but effective

Glad to hear I'm not alone!
You’re funny, you make great videos, and you’re strong af. “Keep it up.”
Thanks John!

I've actually had it for a while, I do need to do a video on it. It's from Gorilla Strength and is pretty nice!
I'll give that a shot when I'm home in a few weeks. I was planning on adding in my belt squat also to help with overload on my legs doing the same thing with the squat. Thanks for the idea
Yeah this is a great way to add frequency!
I use a couple of 12”x12” cement pavers. About 1.75” high and cost about $2 each

Hell yah, kick some ass.
Deadlift variations are always fun, really can help you target what you aren't good at with the lift. Personally Stiff Leg Deadlift are My favorite.
Those are def up there for me too!

Good to hear!
I love deficit deadlifts. Great breakdown!
Thanks brother!
There is a deficit in my wallet after black friday this year....will it be easier to "get it up" off the floor now?
Heyyo!
I hit a plateau on squats 315lbs. 5x5. How do I surpass that?
Switch up your program or work on your weaknesses. Google Ortmayer Magnusson Deadlift program. It’s an excel sheet where you plug in your max. I run it usually once a year or so and never fails to bump up my numbers
5x5 programs typically have that issue. I'd suggest maybe looking at different programming.

I have a spare tile for my Rogue deadlift platform that I use for deficit pulls and it works great!
This is a great solution too. If I weren’t so lazy I’d just peel one up and use it

Agreed!
I’m going to try these, it’s good to get stronger in weak positions. Looking lean and mean Brandon!👊
Hell yeah, let's go!
Thanks for the tips ! 💪
You got it.
Thanks for the tips 👍
Thanks for taking a look!
Where can we sign up for the comedy show? lol Love your videos
Need to work on some new dad jokes.
Be like the late comedian Brody Stevens and incorporate workouts in your standup routine! He brought kettlebells up on stage a few times.
I have a 2x12 cut to length that gives me my 1.5” deficit deadlift.
Nice!
I gotta get back to these and add some in. Right now the AI only has me deadlifting 1x a week, so I’ll have to work it into some sets.
Let's go!
Are nylon lifting belts as effective as hybrid (leather & nylon) lifting belts ? Asking becasue I am a 5’6 lifter and the all leather 10mm belts cause a lot of discomfort
I think it depends on the use.
Any thoughts on a Sumo deadlift deficit with landmind for better ham and glute targeting?
I'm not sure I see the direct carry over there.
Oh those puns! Never change, bro! 😂
Figured I was due for a video and this was easy since I was doing it already 😝
Wait, were you just randomly at The Stone and Barbell Club in KC?
I was out that way for work and it was close to where we were staying.
I used to lift there back before I built my basement gym.
Awesome vlog video
Thank you
What intensity do you use for the deficits relative to your regular deads?
You could either use a lower percentage estimated 1RM and use the same intensities, or aim for an RPE around 7. Depends where you are in training.
I also struggle to get it up
I hear they make pills for that.
Do what Silent Mike does and keep showing up and tugging!
Still using the Genesis Jack 2.0?
No, I got rid of them b/c I use the Genesis Jack Pro (full jack)
Being the same height I’m always having the same issue off the floor too, weird right?
I think bc our hips are generally higher it’s harder for me to engage legs, but with deficits I squat down a bit more and get a bit more push out of it.

Good point dude that’s Probably what’s going on!
I used to deficit deadlift 230 kg 3x3 and on a meet i pulled 290 kg
Now i hit 250kg 2x3 from deficit and really hope i get at least 310 on a meet.
Hell yeah!
@@BasementBrandon thanks for the support!
I'll let you know the result if interested
Love ur videos!
Just started Juggernaut AI last week and the Chad Bot has those programmed. Timely video
🙌🏻🙌🏻
If you hate yourself, try the halting deadlifts.
"Or maybe it's the softest part."
Hahaha, keep the jokes coming, and the videos!
🫡
Narrow collars and thin plates… going hard for the stiffest load 🤣; those deadlifts bars are shedding a tear for sure.
Haha deadlift bar defeats the purpose!
35s for the win! Who says we don't need those 35S?!
Preach
35 lb plates? Never heard of ‘em
Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.
@@BasementBrandon I am team 35, so that is two of us.
Team 35 checking in. A pair of 35s feels better than 1 25 and 1 10.
At our age, aren't we lifting with enough of a deficit??
Well technically you shrink some with age, so it balances out.
Aw now I know what I can use those dusty 35’s for.
lol
I personally like using 35s over 1 25 and 1 10. It feels a teeny tad easier to balance with the weight distribution less spread out, which can make certain lifts a tad easier to perform in theory.
Hello
Hey now
1:58 I wish my ex felt the same way
Hey now!
@@BasementBrandon 🤣
You only hate sumo pull’s because your old hips can’t open up anymore lol
I keep that stuff on my OF account.
Always promoting the 35s 😂😂
