Long time wildlife photographer, over 2 decades, now getting sucked into video. I just found you guys and love the videos, especially Michael's setting up a video rig, extremely helpful. Any I was inspired to comment when Brandon was talking about "good enough". Man do I agree with him! On the other hand I was offered some advice about photos once; "get over it, they are good enough. No one else sees the flaws you do, they just enjoy them" . That has been a hard pill to swallow but there is a strong ring of truth in it. Keep it guys!
That's great advice! I'm slowly learning that good enough is indeed good enough in the production world. Thanks for listening and we'll see you in the field. -Brandon
It feels nice to hear pros like you struggle with the same problems I have doing my videos of wildlife. Like when Eric said he just did something and then realized he should have recorded that 😀
Great podcast again, lots of info to digest. Guests would be nice like Doug Gardner, Harry Collins, Zack Clothier ect. A yes on technical stuff-exposure, aperture, nd filters ect. Video editing tips. Ideas on a portable recording device to record sounds remotely. Is your store up and running yet? Four Roses single barrel isn’t too bad for sipping.
You guys rock, it nice to see like minded people and how you all are fallible and are willing to share your knowledge. It's the first podcast that I watched to the end and was totally entertained and learnt so much. I'll be going back to watch the others for sure.
That's great to hear Andy! Yeah we still make mistakes. Michael and I were talking last week and we got on to the topic of new "things" and how we are constantly trying to innovate and learn but it feels like because of that process, we end up making more mistakes. BUT it's usually a huge help when we get into the field or studio and are under the pressure to get the shot. - Brandon
Enjoying you guys discussing some of the challenges and “wish I did X” experiences. At least it’s not just us. We try to be in ABS mode (always be shooting . . . Something), which is easier when there are two of us. “I’m shooting b-roll; you watch the animal.” Also Eric we’ve learned to be in “BTS” mode most of the time (“Bring The S***/Stuff”) - every time we leave something at home, it’s the absolute item we wished we had in the field that day. LOL. Nice job guys.
We agree with having two people. It's nice to have one person filming the animal and another filming b-roll. The downside with two people in our case, is that occasionally we'll get to talking and miss things. Most of the time it's ok because sharing an experience is also rewarding. We'll have to remember the BTS mode 🤣
Bring film wildlife documentary crew guests, the camera operators, directors, script writers, location scouting, every body!, Who the heck hires the crew and who starts the film idea!?
You'd be ok hearing more of the technical side? We love that stuff,, but didn't know who else enjoyed it. We already have a few guests lined up that we think you'll enjoy, but we'll keep them coming. Really appreciate the feedback!
Think Brandon wins the hat war on this episode. Liking the camo / solid combo. And do you guys have a merchandise store set up somewhere? Couldn’t find it on website so appreciate a steer if I’m missing it. Thx.
Do the podcast for the love of the subject first. I have no idea what the demand for something like this is... and let's hear more about photographing specific species (like caribou)!
Great session guys. Always pick up a tidbit or two!
Thanks!

Craig we will get you covered. You and Brandon will have to share some sips next time we see you!

@@TruthLegend YES! =]
Currently I’m drinking Vermont Spirits No 14. It’s a craft distillery in Vermont. Really good, it has a hint of maple syrup in it.
I'll check it out and add it to my list! - Brandon
Thanks guys. Good stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for tuning in!

Yeah I'm a big fan of this hat! We're finishing up the store and we'll make sure you all know when it's live. - Brandon

Noted! Thanks for taking the time to get us the feedback.
Coffee cups soon?
I'll get some added before the store goes live.
