Sabena was ahead of its time: when you look at their last logo and livery, it would still be perceived as modern today. If I'm not mistaken the name Sabena is property of SN Airholding (parent company of Brussels Airlines) that was later taken over by Lufthansa. So if they want, they could start using the name Sabena again if they want.

My family and I had a bit of a bad experience with Sabena in 2000 (sometime before they went under). A few of the air stewards were very rude to us when we asked for a drink and they said we only had to have our drinks with our meals.

Swissair was going down, but it said “not alone” I’ll take someone down with me.

My grandfather, a former sea captain, told me that they would joke with his colleagues about this company, saying S.A.B.E.N.A, about things they didn't like, meaning: Such A Bloody Experience Never Again, haha
I can't tell if it actually corresponds with a bad view of the company, however

Swissair decides to take the entire Belgian aviation industry with it when it fell. But it resulted in Brussels Airlines becoming their flag carrier, Air Belgium becoming a close second, and Lufthansa, KLM, and Air France taking major stakes in the Belgian aviation industry.

So sad that it became bankrupt mainly because of Swissair

As the video points out, SABENA was a money loser for most of its life, and in the latter decades it had earned a reputation for indifferent, unreliable service. Swissair had been known for most of its life as the flying vault and was one of the few airlines to remain profitable during huge economic downturns. Swissair's demise was a buying spree of other airlines that saw it attempt to become a very major player at a time when the world economy was faltering, which started shortly before 9/11. Those two events proved a deathknell for many carriers, not just SABENA and Swissair.

SABENA … Such A Bad Experience Never Again😂
BTW: when one flies with Brussels Airline, it is rather obvious that the company is run the by the old SABENA folks: dirty aircraft interiors, lousy in-flight service, lost baggage, and literally zero customer service. Avoid whenever possible!
