      In veg I run it at half strength (1.8/1.2/.6) and will ramp up to full strength by week 2 flower.

    • @USMCflow
      @USMCflow 6 лет назад +1

      Grownonymous How long did you veg for and did you ever see any deficiencies? I tried running half strength in veg as well in dwc and was getting a lot of red stems (deficiency) so I had to up it to full strength. my temps were around 80 degrees and humidity 60%-65%.

    • @circle4922
      @circle4922 6 лет назад +2

      Nice. And good to hear that you're loving it in a form of hydro such as dwc. No issues? Do you mix it right in the res? Or in a smaller container first? And do you use warmer water than normal? Or have you found any of that necessary?
      Thanks.

    • @grownonymous
      @grownonymous 6 лет назад +4

      Not seeing any deficiencies at all, unless you consider the purple petiole under LED mystery a "deficiency". That said....I dont run half strength all through veg. I ramp up as the plants get larger and their nutrient needs increase, and will be hitting full strength by week 2 of flower unless my plants tell me to increase the dosage before then. Please remember this is a solid baseline recipe guys. You still have to do the job of the grower and read your plants and respond accordingly to their individual needs, should any arise.

    • @grownonymous
      @grownonymous 6 лет назад +1

      I use a 20 gallon brute garbage can with a wheel base to mix and pH all my nutrients prior to introducing them to the roots of my plants. Ive done a couple temp tests on the water and have no real issues getting the product fully incorporated at temps as low as 60F. Lowest Ive tested was 57F, and while you'll have to put a little back into it when mixing...it still dissolves with little issue. The solubility of the product is pretty high man....something like 3lbs per gallon for Jacks.

    I switched to Jacks 321 about 2 or 3 weeks ago (largely because of this video and a couple of other nutrient video you have made) and I couldn’t be happier. I have tried multiple lines over the years and I can say that my plants haven’t ever looked this consistently happy. The amount of time and money this is saving me is worth it alone. What's up?
      This is one of my coveted downloaded 'gold instructional' videos. Don't worry many of your videos are there too my friend! ;)
      No, just wanted to say a warning for anyone reading as well yourself but i'm sure you know this.
      Easy mistake that I made, nothing wrong with Jacks. I am so impressed with it so far i'm speechless compared to Gen Hydro.
      I just started with this with the Flood and Drain...
      I messed up at first and used small volume measuring to mix a 28 Gallon res.
      I added 6 Tablespoons 5-12-26 and 3 Tbs of Calcium Nitrate (see below how easy to misunderstand the label) for what I thought would be 20 Gallons to start.
      I added 6 TBS of Jacks 5-12-26, 3 TBS of Cal-nit...oops.
      I would measure PPM then continue by adding concentrated premix solution to bring PPM to around 450-500.
      Made a huge dummy move and mistook 3-2-1 to be equal measurements in VOLUME.
      One thing that is confusing is the 5-12-26 (main) ingredient says for small volume mixing "1 tsp per gallon...this is part of a 2 part solution etc." Then the calcium nitrate says "1/2 tsp per gallon OF EACH 5-12-26 and Cal-Nit for a TOTAL of 1 tsp per gallon".
      Long story long, 3-2-1 meaning WEIGHT I think? Weight wise both are nearly equal in volume with a 3/2 ratio due to density/shape of the salt
      So I read again and read and realized duh I need to use my scale and measure it out by weight in grams 3-2-1 ratio.
      *Why i LOVE this mistake Titan is because of this: (*Pay attention those serious about growing plants or those that haven't figured this out yet). Because this is actually the solution to a question I had years ago as a new grower that I couldn't get an answer to.
      How much PPM of my solution is N? how about Sulfur?
      I was told as a newby it wasn't possible, who cares etc. They all use bottles.
      EVERY damn cut has a different ratio of requirements.
      Let alone strains or crosses etc. 3:2:1 is a starting point. We now can know what that is because we actually know the PPM of the individual N-P-K-Ca-Mg etc. Instead of just an overall PPM/EC. that we can guess about how much of it is N, vs Mg etc. It answers the most frustrating question that I had a scientist and a grower.

    I wanted to add a another thank you for video for making me reassess my ratios. I will be using Jacks after I run out of Gen Hydro, but in the few times in coco that I have dried the medium completely by mistake, usually in flower stretch, I burn them bad and it must be an imbalance so I made a small adjustment, no more problems.
    The ideal will be a basic removable RO system for filling a large res and this program from start to finish should relay any nutrient related requirements for the most part and allow me to focus on other aspects of gardening.

    • @phenosgardenupdate512
      @phenosgardenupdate512 6 лет назад

  • @benlong5928
    @benlong5928 6 лет назад +3

    Thanks for the video - just watched it for the second time, while my second grow starts the 4th week of flower. I'm planning my third grow, and I've decided to use Jacks. The first was GH Organic in soil, the second was GH Trio in coco, and this next will be Jacks in coco. Germination starts next week.
    I know this is a super basic question, but can you point to, or comment on how you dissolve the nutrients? I know you said to mix in two steps, and that you mix so frequently as to keep it fresh. Do you dissolve in two steps into in a smaller container, and then pour into a larger reservoir? Do you use an immersion blender, or anything to speed up dissolving the nutes? Finally, how do you know they're fully dissolved? Like I said I know it's basic, and I'll likely figure it out through trial, but I'm curious how you optimize for time efficiency.
    Thanks for all you do!

    Hey GG, I’m starting my first grow.
    3 beans popped in Rockwool and plain tap H2O.
    Bout to transplant into 1/2 gal (coco), but I don’t have an EC meter and I’m going to presoak the coco in Jacks 3:2:1.
    I believe You’ve said that Jacks 3:2:1 full strength works for you as soon as the seedlings leaves have sprouted.
    Should I worry about an EC meter for right now? Or can it wait some time?
    I also plan on using mykos, recharge and tribus.
    Thanks for your videos man.
    Very informative for a beginner like me.

    I've been following a paper from Cornell Univ for leafies as well as fruiting crops.
    I've been using Jacks 5-12-26 and calcium nitrate (15-0-0) for my kratky/passive hydroponics. This is basically a mix once and leave it system.
    For: leafy greens 2.84g/gal each of Jacks and CaNO3 and fruiting plants (tomatoes/peppers): 3.60g /gal each of Jacks and CaNO3. If I add additional epsom salt, would I see a huge difference? Interesting the ratio are quite similar WITHOUT Epsom...please advise.

    Great shows! I’m always thinking that Masterblend is pretty much the same as Jacks. Maybe the numbers differ a little but but the regiments are the same when feeding. Think there’s much different?

    Does the GreenGene Jack's "booster" replace the Jack's 3:2:1 during first two weeks of flower, or used in addition to the 3:2:1?

    I was totally pumped for this a few months ago, when starting my first Coco/LED grow. You seem to be moving away from the 321 recently and when I hit week 4 of flower I was having very high leaf to calyx ratio with a strain I was familiar with. I got concerned with the high N once the stretch was complete, so I tapered off the CalNit over 2 weeks from 4-6, knowing that I might trigger issues with the cation sites in my Coco. Running new strains next set, maybe I will stay brave and stick to the program.

      I grow plants for 10-12 weeks. 10 weeks of that are 321. 2 are not.

      @@GreengenesGardenOfficial I've changed ALL the variables at once this time. The vegetative growth is phenomenal, but I'm not sure what happened in bloom. I've been running this plant for years and it's always been a yieilder, but it's a salad this time, all leaf with a little cherry tomato bud on top, but at the same time an unknown to me strain produced nothing but rock hard buds. Oh well, I've got plenty of 321 to give it a few more tries.
      So when are you running the boost formula? And you've never seen anything strange running the Calcium Nitrate right to the end of flower? I have to fight every instinct to add 15-0-0 to flower.

    Thanks so much for everything you do for the community through your sharing of experience and knowledge! My photoboost strips are the best lights I've ever used! I'm thinking about giving Jack's a go too. Do you personally use RO water or tap water?

  • @ShuhDonk
    @ShuhDonk 5 лет назад +3

    I started using jacks a few months ago, one thing I noticed is my ph is at about 5.1 after mixing jacks/cal nit/mag sulfate. I am using ro water (at 0-5ppm). I am using jacks in two locations, one with well water source (ro filtered though) and one with city water (also ro filtered) and both places ph's around 5.1 after adding nutes. Anyone else getting this? I'm adding ph up in the ro water before mixing in nutes. put in jacks first, then epsom then mag sulfate, in that order.

    High times recently published some findings out of a university that said the ideal P-K-N ratio was 1.3P-1.7K-4.0N "The highest yield, cannabinoid content, and plant growth were achieved around an organic fertilizer rate that supplied 389mg of Nitrogen a Liter during veg or 418 mgN/L maximized THC concentrations at the expense of yield and other cannabinoid concentrations. Had a Grow gong in Coco-Tech PX was running GH 3 Part with Cali-Magic Mammoth P BioAg Full Power using Recharge once per week in Veg when I flipped to Flower I began using Green Genes Recipe in 5 Gallons mixed 10 Grams of Part A 10 Grams B 10 Grams Epsom Salt and 6 Grams MKP diluted to 750ppm on 500 scale and had the best harvest and best quality Buds I've ever grown and have since switched completely over to Jack's Hydro running both 321 and GG's depending on which I feel like running great info in this video

    Never give coco straight water until final flush. Flush using 1/4-1/2 strength nutes until runoff ppm is within 100 of input ppm. If you upset the cation exchange sites you may not be able to recover.

    Thanks for the great info. Thinking of using Jack's for my next grow. I actually used your old video (and GrowMau5) to make my own lights a couple years ago and i'm still having great results. (I used Bridgelux Vero 29 Gen 7). Right now I'm using super soil, top dressing and teas and its great. How would you rate Jack's for flavor compared to full organic and is there something to add in Jack's to give it an "organic" flavor? I would want to still stay in soil as well. Doing GG4 on my next grow as well. Store gave me 7 free! (Canuk seeds)
