    I can relate to your theory of leveling off with a box blade! We had a 200’ trench in our pasture to lagoon in December and it was “settling”. I took the box blade up and down multiple times but it didn’t look good until I did the same with the tiller and now looks perfectly smooth and ready for the hay to grow back.

      If you don't already have a bucket, I would seriously consider a 4in1 bucket over this add on grapple. This extra protruding grapple must continuously affect your visibility, plus it's added weight on your bucket, plus you lose out on a pushing blade (the back of the bucket when the front is raised).

    Love the channel and love seeing the Summit tractor at work. I'm a JD guy, but when it comes time to finally get a real tractor, the Summit will be tough to beat. I don't want to advertise for a competitor, but I bought a rear bucket/carryall last year with a hydraulic dump, works absolutely fantastic on my JD 318 and JD420. I just run the hoses to the front ports (I don't have rear remotes on either of mine). I have the smaller version of the two. The Splitfire looks more robust in it's construction, but it really needs a hydro dump IMO. I hope they will consider doing that instead of the little rope.

  • @EOTG_AK
    @EOTG_AK Год назад +1

    Checked out the Split-Fire and it is begging for more options and little tweaks!
    1. Add onboard storage for the tailgate, it would fit standing up like a bucket extension hooked to the 3pt mount. Adding a way to hook it in flat like a shelf at the back of the bucket would also add versatility.
    2. A bolt on extension for the sides would be an easy option to add as well. Especially if they adapted the tailgate to double as a shelf.
    3 Hydro dump cylinder as an option! An electric solenoid latch would also be a great option for people without rear remotes.
    4.Chainsaw mount or at least an accessory designed to work with one of the existing chainsaw mount vendors designs
    6. Redesign the hitch mount! Nobody want to bolt and unbolt a hitch. Off the cuff idea… instead of 2 holes, cut a single keyhole In the bottom of the carryall. A tab drops into that keyhole and slides forward so it is captured in the slot. The hitch would be designed so it is U shaped and fits around the bottom of the bucket. It would have 2 tabs that stuck up and would align with the one you just put in the keyhole slot. Single pin slides through the 3 tabs and it’s locked in! Include a storage location on the side of the carryall that uses the same mounting design to keep it out of the way when not needed. *account for it having a ball mounted when stored that configuration. Also a similar design for a hitch receiver would be a good option.
    7. Sooooo many other option could be added!! Bucket rings that hang from the side to secure 5 gallon buckets. Same thing but bigger for Brute trash cans. Take the tail gait and side extension idea from above and add bucket rings so you could line up 2-4 buckets on top of the tailgate shelf. Now you are hauling feed buckets and still have a load floor to shovel manure into.
    I could go on 😂 but I’ll stop with the last suggestion of making a 72” version

  • @bill29456
    @bill29456 Год назад +1

    The grapple seems kind of neat. You said it was less expensive but didn’t say how much.
    The rear bucket is garbage. They have made them for decades and just like you showed, your hack there pushing stuff into it. For heavy gravel it doesn’t dig in. The only difference I can see is that with rim guard your tractor is heavier for more traction. Without the added weight your rear tires just spin. That’s why you haven’t seen them for sale for years. Looks like a cool idea but in reality not so much.

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Год назад

      How much less depends on the grapple you're comparing to. We have a huge range of grapples.
      The rear bucket is awesome and one of the things I've been most excited to feature. Send me links to all of the others that have been around for decades like this one. I'd love to see them. Any tractor should be set up properly, that's on the operator.

  • @EOTG_AK
    @EOTG_AK Год назад +1

    The video definitely showed that a carryall is not super effective at picking up things like stumps from the tractor seat. Lol
    It looks perfect for hauling tools and equipment or raking debris into. The ability to back in to a loose pile and effectively get a second load of dirt per trip is pretty dang sweet!
    I’m going to check it out more online but I’ll ask first… Do they have a hydraulic or electric release for the dump so it can be used easily on a cab tractor?

    • @GoodWorksTractors
      @GoodWorksTractors  Год назад

      I don't necessarily think it has to pick up everything. Shove it in there. The idea is that this is a way for folks that don't have loaders or buckets on their tractors to have an option to carry things around. Plus, a hydraulic top link to change the angle would make a huge difference. Otherwise, it's tough with the uneven terrain and hoping your top link angle is adjusted just right. No hydraulic or electric release that I know of

    Did you paint the add a grapple yourself? As far as I know, Precision mfg only has them in black. I'm thinking you did it yourself since the canopy is also a Summit green.
    There are 3 point scoops out there, but split fire has improved on the concept tremendously by going to a different design that will also serve as a carryall. Hopefully, a Chinese knockoff won't violate their patent and ruin their opportunity.

      Even with a loader the option to back into a pile of dirt or mulch to roughly double the material you can haul is pretty darn handy if your pile is a long way from where you need to put it. The scoop and dump feature is a useful addition to the myriad of other useful things a carryall can do. Grapple on the front and carryall on the back is perfect for firewood work. I’d be interested to see if it will hold an IBC tote or similar pallet and then be able to tilt so it will slide out when you pull forward.
