I was working by feel in the dark under the seats and when I had bolted everything up, and got out, my hands were absolutely shredded. I was leaking blood everywhere. We had to degrease the engine when it was done there was so much blood. I washed my hands up, super glued the big cuts, wrapped up with black tape, went back to work. You learn to work through it.
This reminds me of my uncle who was a firefighter and went into a burning house to save two elderly men and after he saved them he went back in to make sure they were the only people inside when he did a gas line blew up and he got back out with 3rd degree burns he was cracking up jokes at the hospital he sadly passed away from his injuries the next day he was the youngest on the team R.I.P. Eric
Sounds like your uncle was a true hero! Willing to be selfless and brave and sacrifice himself for the welfare of others. That is the most honorable thing a person can do in my opinion.
As a person who have been in the ER for far too many times, I discovered that is always better to keep a positive attitude. It will distract you from the pain and the doctors and nurses will be more relaxed and secure. But also my country has free healthcare so I don't need to worry about debt lol

When i had my first motorcycle crash, i was joking around with the medics the whole time, talking the most stupid stuff y'all ever heard, while u were able to see part of my foot bone and stuff like that. Adrenaline really is funny😂
Broke 18 ribs sternum jaw collar bone and a skull fracture. 32 fractures total. After I woke up the 2nd time when trauma heli landed I was so stubborn I walked with help into the ambulance.. adrenaline and ketamine is a wonderful thing. Asking them for my cigarettes 3 times also, which they actually took I noticed a month later leaving the hospital with my coat on haha
Ouch. I broke my arm in 3 places and was talking and joking with them. I told them that I was okay but when the adrenaline wore off I'd feel it. They laughed and agreed by the time we finally got the hospital is when I started to feel it. All the exrays and pushing on the bones I was in some real pain. Morphine was not helping. I don't don't know how you were so calm with those kind of injuries.

Whenever I'm at the doctors or the hospital i always try to be super energetic and happy. Obviously not to the point of covering my symptoms but ive had to go under twice, recently for a major surgery, and i tried to be upbeat the whole time to make it easier for everyone
same! i got emergency surgery in 2018 and every time a doctor or nurse or janitor or anyone came in i was always polite and nice, despite being in pain. they all told my mother how polite i was :)

Right now I'm in the hospital because I was stabbed, I had a great attitude because adrenaline was kicking so hard and I thought I'm going to pass out before the ambulance arrived, so when I got in the ambulance I was all pumped up and telling stories to the guys who took me to the hospital. Adrenaline is great for surviving.
@@user-yn5jh2rl9r yea, through the hand, i got my tendon and my artery sliced in my left hand, it took two surgeries to get it together, it's been three months now and I've regained a good deal of movement in my thumb, but it's a struggle, physical therapy is hard, but it's worth the pain. It will be a struggle for probably 6 months to a year to get back the function of my thumb (and it won't be 100%), I'm in constant pain.
The best part was the guy who was shot in the groin. The face he made when he said ". . . Your soon gonna feel a finger up your butt." I couldn't stop laughing.

I've been in an ambulance twice, the first time after a roll over car crash in 1998 and the second about 7 or 8 years ago because of a heart condition (the paramedics actually had to give me a shot to stop my heart and restart it because it was beating over 220 beats per min) It was one of the most terrifying things I've ever been through. Mind you, I'm only 43 now but both times were extremely scary. I remember the paramedics joking with me both times. I am extremely grateful for each and every one of them out on the street. Yes, they are paid for what they do but they honestly do it to help people in need. It's scary and traumatizing on both sides, the patient and the first responder. I thank everyone of them for what they do!
I had the heart stopped too…the shot is called adenosine. It feels like an elephant is sitting on your chest. The paramedic guy I had told me it would so that was a nice heads up.
I’m kind of like this. I’m a survivor of 5 seizures and other related incidents involving injuries. I always liked to smile and laugh to try to joke them off. And you know these kinda things help you. They make you feel less pain.

I feel like I'd act the same way. My moms a nurse and growing up she'd tell me to stay calm whenever something happened to me. I remember I was like 11 and I was sent to the ER because I stopped breathing (I was still awake and walking, I just couldn't breathe at all. It's like I was constantly suffocating) I was chill the entire time. Spent all night in the ER and I got home by morning. Freaking out will just make things worse. It's easier to operate on a still patient than a patient that's screaming, shaking and rocking back and forth.
