I think Aretha and Chaka are what define soul music. They approach singing it in a different way with very different styles but are equally brilliant and somehow come up with some shit hot songs and recordings. Aretha is more church and traditional whereas Chaka infuses jazz and produces a funkier sound. But both have great voices and I've loved listening to the two over the years. They've both bought me so much pleasure.
Does it get any better, really? What a band, what a lead singer, one of the best voices of all time.
I can understand why Prince loved and respected Chaka so much. I did too. She's a trail blazer a true original.

Chaka Khan is like a fine wine , she only gets better with time. A Beautiful Spirited Woman who has survived in the world of show business because she has apparently learned many lessons and have applied these life lessons to her professional and personal life. Chaka Khan and Ella Fitzgerald are my all time favorites female singers who happen to have had several things in common longevity in their careers and were Leaders of their craft......

Chaka khan now this sister can holler I've listened to her music for a long time she's awesome she's super talented. A friend of mine got the opportunity to meet her and he says she's so humble and friendly really down to earth. I don't know if you are aware but the cats on the guitar and the drummer they are from the group AWB average white band the cats on the trumpet and saxophone are the Brecker brothers Michael and Randy Brecker true studio musicians from back in the day. the rhythm section all these cats are well known talented local musicians. Real musicians’ real talent. Love ya chaka keep doing it you are Awesome

I just watched Chaka's live performance in Brooklyn 2015. It made me come back to this concert because this one was the absolute best. I think the audio engineering and the intimate setting allows her to be a powerhouse without overdoing it. The Brooklyn concert was too loud and not conducive to her voice. But here in this video she's got the best-of-the-best song arrangements and kick-ass musicians and backup singers.

You walked in front of me onto the tables, I moved the glasses out of the way for your safety. Barry was across from me entranced. You are the Absolute genius vocalist, songwriter, lyricist, musician. Your stunning musical performance is the 9th wonder of this universe. Thank you Chaka, "George Duke" was in the audience. I bought a copy of this show from the fan club years ago, here I was thinking it was at the Savoy, but it was the Roxy I'm just as thrilled about it now as I was then. Rufus medley, Chaka medley, opening with Beetles classic, closing with Motown classic, and your latest album cuts at the time was just incredible.

Outstanding performance and performers what can I say about Chaka that hasn't been said I got here in my heart forever, truly blessed singer and outstanding artist. A dream team line-up with H Stuart, Steve Ferrone, Anthony Jackson and The Brecker Bros what more can you ask for, by this time you can see Michael was fighting his own drug deamons whom he finally won but lost his battle with leuchemia in 2007, really miss him a lot, he was a master of masters, god bless him!!

Awesome band, that horn section & solo were beautiful. The back-up singers get'tin down, they're having fun in their own sing/dance party, back there, and Mrs. Khan, YES!!! If Aretha Franklin is the Queen of soul, then Chaka is the Princess of soul!!! Personally, I always, thought she was a better singer than Aretha, Chaka has more range, pitch and emotion vocally.
