Great tutorial. It is my goal to do one a day now. How can this be manufactured? Doesnt the shape make it imposible to come out of a mold? Is it just a design for 3D printing? Thanks for any help in advance. I just realised I cannot bool union evertything at the end even thought the ring and the pattern are cosed meshs.

Awesome video! I'm gonna try making one good knot, tweaking the pipe till its sweet, the delete the pipe and connect like 20 knot curves end to end with tangency at each connection, then rebuild the whole thing, flow the curve onto the ring surface, then finally pipe the whole thing as last step. Hopefully it will work! Thanks PJ!!!

although i am sure you cover that in other tutorials, it would be nice to ellaborate in this one as well, how *that knot can be converted into a seamless 3D solid pattern* , by manipulating the original curves and matching their positions and tangents with ie. *Match Curve* . this way the same technique will be valid for strict geometric patterns, as well.

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign

Rhino is great for visualize the concept/ideas with rendering, but it is also great to 3d print for prototype. In jewelry purpose, it is accurate, for example pave setting. You will find it as a advance tool additional to the bench practice.

Hey PJ I have a problem with this tutorial. I don't understand why when I use the command ''Create UV Curve'' Rhino selects only a little section of the surface I want to pick from the ring ibb.co/0yzbQqV (as you can see from this pic) instead of selecting all the top part of the ring as you do in your tutorial ibb.co/W0rv7f7 Any idea why does it do that? I have the same problem with the command ''Flow along Surface'' Rhino selects only a little section of the surface I want to select. Thanks in advance. ( I tried to build the ring again and again but nothing changes)

    • @PJChenJewelryDesign

The Rhino only pick up a section because you have seams. The command only allows you to pick up ONE surface at a time.
