The take of the owl. From the owl's (Drake's) perspective it looks free looking at Kendrik, but from Kendriks and our perspective , the owl is caged. The owl is caged and does not even know it because it can't see the bars. Drake is locked within the confines of the industry for his lifetime thinking he is highest on the food chain ( the owl being a predator) and is unaware of it, unlike Kendrick who has freedom to be creative.
This interpretation is my favorite regarding the owl in the cage.

Two other observations I have not heard mentioned yet🧐.
1. When Whitney dances to Drakes’ utter humiliation in this video it’s a reference to when Drake, speaking directly to Whitney (who, IMO, is the person that got dragged THE most in Family Matters) says “shake that ass, bitch, hands on your knees. Hands on your knees, hands on your knees. Shake that ass for Drake…”
2. In the final crowd shot when the camera starts to zoom in Kendrick is in the middle of the crowd 😍. He is surrounded by respect, acceptance, love, community, culture and heritage. That’s him figuratively saying, Drake you “know nothin' 'bout that”! 😂😂😂
Also, for Whitney, she’s blood walking, pretty much letting him know the Blood affiliates won’t be having him speaking on her like that if it comes to it so keep it moving.
I had the same thoughts in the final crowd shot.
Now the cage is different… when you look at Kendrick from the owl 🦉 perspective you see no cage as in the Owl/Drake sees no different between him and Kendrick. If you look at the Owl 🦉 or Drake from Kendrick perspective you see the cage or bars… and that’s what separates them….. BARZ
and Kendrick has his hands behind his back but he can move freely…

Melissa Ford, on the Joe Budden podcast, had a great take on those shipping containers. The guys dancing in the containers represent our culture (Hip Hop). The scene shows our culture being exported (exploited) by the colonizers (represented by Drake)
Don’t forget Kendrick dressed like a Fed and Dave Free like the informant helping him get things back. DeRoz being there was a point in the favor of exporting Black talent and misusing him as a shield against his own people until he came back.

I took the shipping containers as calling Drake an import from abroad that exports Black culture but Kendrick is dressed as a Fed who’s stopping the exploitation. Especially since DeRoz and the two dancers are in the shipping containers as he says he’s glad they came home and warning Drake not to speak on things and people (like Serena) he doesn’t know. I feel the human tr*fficking angle is secondary since the lyrics match the former concept.
