When I was in the SEABEES was in Sicily and there one of the building projects was a civilian crew that used rough sawed 1x lumber for forms on a concrete pour job they oiled the forms well and vibrated concrete as it was poured when removing forms the grain of lumber was kind of stamped into the concrete and later stained to give a wood look was very good looking when done the exposed concrete looked like it was wood

BUT....I was really surprised today when you said your kitchen and table area will be in front of all the windows at the end of the great room obstructing the pretty views you would have if your seating area was there.just a thought I wouldn't want to be relaxing at the end of a busy day looking at my kitchen. Either way...I'm sure you will make it gorgeous!!❤

You go forward in fits and starts, though this time moving on different fronts, I guess this all adds up to a great deal of progress. I can see the need for haste, winter is rolling in and will be all over us soon, so I understand the need for progress. There is still a great deal of work to be done and weather proofing, and getting the outside work done has to be the priority for now. The inside can be done when the cold weather, rain and snow hits.

I know people are picking on you guys for remodeling an “incomplete” house but I think its awesome and it makes me think of the C.S. Lewis quote,
“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”
You made me smile and think of one of my favorite quotes. Thank you.
