  • I made that vid some time ago and keft it unlisted. During these times I think it would be useful as a public one, despite the fact that there isn't any explanation or detail. To be honest, I don't think much is needed. These are very simple, fundamental actions.

What's going on with the really high thrusts at around the 4:20 mark and again at the end? Is it a trick of the camera angle, simulating a much taller opponent, a habit of thrusting above a partners head for safety or, just something else that I fundamentally don't understand?

It's a visual trick of the terrain. I am on a lower level from the camera, and there is a slope under my feet. It doesn't affect the side shots, just some of the front ones. It is why the video wan initially unlisted.
I've never done thrusting above a partner's head, that's a good way to learn wrong mechanics. I have, however, trained thrusting against a higher dummy, as I've often fenced tall people who stand relatively upright.
Also, each of these thrusts is supposed to go through a target. If it enters from below, it will travel higher than the initial point of contact.

Are there any resources you could recommend for learning this fighting style? This would be a great module for my HEMA team to pick up

The straight arm Cuts with the elbow pointed to the side of very bad for your elbow.
The elbow should be pointed in the direction of the blow so it can absorb the shock.

Not true. You have a very simplistic understanding of mechanics and anatomy.

@@borislavkrustev8906 if you strike hard enough enough times with your elbow pointed to the side it's going to stress the ligament. I could show you the right way, but I don't think you're closed mind will be accepting of it.

@@borislavkrustev8906 you have a very limited amount of experience in a very small group.
I have for hundreds of people in many different disciplines of medieval fighting. HEMA, SCA, Live Steel, BOTN.
I have learned to fight against all of them. I adjust my fighting style as needed. I have that flexibility.

@@medievalswordandshield-bil5631 Borislav is currently ranked 103 in sword and buckler on HEMA rating. With more than 1300 ranked in that category, this puts in squarely in the top 10% of S&B fencers in the world. I am pretty sure he's got plenty of experience necessary to teach you a thing or two.
