I am new to game development and have been using unity for learning and creating. Probably the best recommended RUclips video for me. I learned about more tools I can use and benefit from your videos!! Thank you 🙏
7:28 => Who are you to challenge me, you impudent earthling?!? Alright! CHALLENGE ACCEPTED! You will regret the day you set a challenge on a guideless, challenge seeking alien! (And so will I regret posting this...)
Making free assets could lead someone to wanting to pay for more if they like your asset enough so only pay assets can hurt you in the long run. Anyway its crazy how sound a voices can make the game come to life.
If I would have known this during the prime days of indie development and green lighting. I could be rich. Considering most of these early access games get abandon as most are just in it to profit some side cash and leave it for dead.
It's kinda crazy how most people play the bare minimum to quality games, we're conditioned to a go towards the common themes but there so much devs can do with games im surprised how many clones we get. I wish the prices would lower so it would stop the push for profit and more inspired games would be the focus instead of a name or logo.
It's pretty interesting to say the least. Besides the low effort and shitty design, I think it exposes a positive direction in regards to engines like unity and the notion of free assets. A direction towards a democratisation of game development, an environment of creative freedom reducing the technical knowledge necessary to make games. I mean, is making a bridge between the abstraction of a game and the finished game itself. A person who isn't versed is programming (a writter, philosopher, historian, lawyer, psychologist, etc) could do a demo of a concept and people interested could later help towards a finished piece of art. And in regards of assets, is making games be more like music in a sense. Composing songs usually have a confabulation of melodies and armonies from the past and putting them in a new context, apart from the more original moments of chaotic creativity that emerge almost spontaneously in the process of music making. Sometimes music can relay more heavily on this appropriation of influences and pieces like in jazz or some electronic music. For example, Venetian Snares -an electronic musical project- has an album made almost entirely of sampling classical Hungarian music, like Bartók or Franz Liszt ; he arranged and mix these pieces of music until they have a new context and energy that differs from the originals but at the same times is based on them. I think that a similar process could be more common in game development to entice a more freeing artistic expression and have more experimental approximations to the development of mechanics and stylistic results. sorry for my poor english.
i had just subbed before watching this. after seeing the statue model doing the fucking eddy gordo idle with a stand on one foot, i found myself frustrated that i had already subscribed, because i wanted to again
That's.......not what is meant by "Asset Flip". Every game programmer or designer uses assets, either from artists that they work with, or they buy in. What's the difference really? A real asset flip would be to take an existing game, change the assets and then release it as your own. Very different.
I'm glad you have your own definition for what an asset flip is, but what the term is mainly used for is purchasing or downloading free pre-made assets, creating a shovelware type game and selling it for cheap. So technically, since I didn't put this game up for sale, it's not an asset flip. You're right in that.
@@and3rs Its not my own definition - its the one used widely through the development industry. Most developers use free and paid pre-made assets, some more than others.
@@MichaelGGarry I'm curious to know what you think I mean by "asset flip". Downloading free art assets, seemingly at random, and putting them in a game with no regard for the overall art style is what the term asset flip is used for. Whether or not most developers use pre-made assets is irrelevant. I've never said using pre-made assets automatically turns a game into an asset flip and I don't believe this video suggests I think it does either.
@@and3rs "A real asset flip would be to take an existing game*, change the assets and then release it as your own. Very different." *Existing game meaning the packs for sale on asset stores.
you fast forwarded over the one thing I wanted to see, the assets being loaded into the game. ;/ yea it took a long time but why you fast forward it, people can skip if they want.
3:32 "It's not looking indie enough so I'll add just about every post-processing filter..."
I felt that
Yea that is so true 😭
Yes! Finally RUclips recommended something interesting that doesn't have 15 million views!
Thank you Alexis, appreciate the kind comment :D
You have inspired me to only make asset flips to try an recapture the genius of this game. Kidding of course. Great vid
Haha, go for it! Thanks man :D
Interesting experiment. I found it funny how turbo squid promoted paid assets even with the free filter.
The Mario flower and probably the cows were the scariest part.
damn, those free movement perks actually look better then most of the games ive got recently.
Really deep dialogue in the game, I'm impressed
Also on a serious note, loving the hytale wallpaper lol
Even tho this was made for the lolz, it's still kinda impressive in its own way.
ngl that cow jumpscare got me 🤣

Making my first game ever. Thanks for the video, it's going to help save time a lot :)
*It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.*

That "i'm just kidding ... " line killed me lol 🤣 dude, you just got new subscriber.
Actually better then some stuff on steam :P
Haha thanks but that's not a very high bar to meet though xD
Enjoyed the video. Gonna complain about your math though. 227 would be object 27 on page 3. 1-100 on page 1, 2-200 on 2, and so on.
Yo, you scared me with the cows wtf
Wow, that was really enjoyable to watch, should have way more views.
Thanks Gorsin! :D

I’m already ready for BB17
Haha, sorry! I'm working on BB2 again now... full speed ahead now in development until it's done xD

Wow this was incredible. So fun.
Thanks Thane! :D

Doctor: All dreams have a meaning My Dreams: 6:46
Oh nice, your dreams have buggy character collisions too? xD
This actually looks better than most mobile game 😂😂😂 even when you try to make it bad, it can't be worse than those

I can't argue with that! Thanks for writing up something so deep & serious on a "funny stupid video" I made, appreciate it :)
I'm sorry you were just too late to be considered for the 2020 Game Awards. I recommend a console release in January so that GOTY 2021 is a lock.
Hum... That's amazing
Thanks Gabriel xD
