New Way Cobra Rear Loader vs Old Cans

- Here you will see Miguel & Darrell from the CR&R crew on ex-Newport truck 5026, numbered 6758. Darrell's normal truck is 6756, or what used to be 5021. But it had been in the shop for some time as it was getting its tippers installed. You'll see them on their Friday route collecting old garbage cans that residents no longer wanted. This was one week after the area went automated, and the rollout took place after all the trash was collected that week. So almost every house had old cans to throw away. The trash is sorted for recyclables at a material recovery facility - all cans & lids were recycled along with any other recyclables found in the trash. Comment, rate, and enjoy.

I'm glad (after seeing the other comments below), that the old bins got recycled as it would have been a huge waste of material as well as land fill space
"Recycled" is a loose term. Very little is actually recycled. Something like 5%. It's all just marketing speak for an ignorant public and a billion dollar business built on bs.
As a trash can collector. (I own 60+) this makes me cry 😢so wasteful
It's crazy to see this many cans going in the truck. I understand that they will be pulled out and probably recycled, but I would have loved to grab a few of those Brute cans!

Have always had a fascination with garbage trucks. Love to watch how the mechanism works in the back.
That be me too. Ever since I was like 2
i want to work on one
i lived in a trailer park as a kid and would help Mr Gier and his helper Billy Howard pick up the trash in the small garbage truck Mr Gier owned.
Me, too, in a sense.
That's what she said..lmbo...
I saw a New Way Cobra Rear Loader on a Ford F750 Chassis from 2017 and on Tailslandian Waste Services crew's Friday route collecting my old and broken gizmos that I don't use anymore, damaged beyond repair, etc., I have upgraded to new ones since then.
Signed, Bertram Gardner.
Newport Beach probably has the best trash pick-up service in the world. Besides the residents, there can pay for excellent trash pick-up service and for modernized trash trucks too.
Great video, albeit painful to watch! So many good cans, I would have been grabbing several of them too. Glad you were able to rescue a few. I saw several that I would have loved to have!
Thanks. There were tons more that went away before these did. I still have to make a video of everything I grabbed.

Please take me, priceless !!
Great video and interesting to see the compactor doing it's work.
RODALCO2007 Presidente Light foi eu que mandei para quebrar esses mal
Great video! Wow that's a lot of manual cans. It was a lot of fun to see the truck pack them away. Will all this material go to a MRF? It would be a shame for all those plastic cans to get landfilled. Good thing those wheels that popped out at 3:00 didn't hit anybody. Great job!!
Thanks. There were a lot more than what I got on video. The trash from Newport Beach is dumped at the city's transfer station and then taken to the MRF to recover what's actually salvageable by that point. The workers between the MRF and transfer station prefer the cans be collected with the trash because they don't take up too much space at the MRF's sorting lines. When they are dumped with the trash, they stick out like a sore thumb, so workers easily see them and pull them out with other larger items that can be recycled. The wheels actually hit me but they didn't pop out fast enough to make a hard hit.
🖥
Glad you mentioned in the description in the video that the stuff was sorted/recycled, otherwise I would have ranted on all the plastic being thrown away! Looks like a pretty easy job for that rear loader.
Nice work! Really put the truck through its paces, that's for sure. Definitely enjoyed the video.
Indeed. Thanks
damn I would gladly take some of these old manual bins. too bad they're basically garbage now. Love the truck as well as seeing it pack those bins. Great video.
I took tons of them during the transition period, and some even before that. Some I had on my wanted list for years, and some others just came along the way. If you head out to San Diego County, you can find tons in the cities that EDCO is automating green waste in as of now. Thanks.

At 3:00 I like how the wheels flew of of the can
Weeeeeeee!!!
Awsome video my friend, lots of action and crushing, love your videos buddy... haven't been on here in awhile, can't wait to see the bins you collected :) That's awsome the trash cans were pulled out at the transfer station, I can beleave they stuck out like sore thumbs LOL Most places U.S.A and Canada are big on recycling... Nice to come back to youtube to your videos :) Thank you again
What a great video keep making great videos I like your videos
I used to do this as a laborer for WM in Port Charlotte Florida all 5 days a week. You wear no safety glasses, one glove it all, ride the back while backing up so you ain't even guiding him so if a accident does happen it's all on you. Yet your driver has to tell you how to still operate the hopper & you walk across the street when you should be riding the back to the next stop or running it if you prefer. If you ain't going to do the job right, don't do it at all. Safecom would have a field day with you or whatever company is hired to make sure you do your job right. Btw bend with your knees when lifting not your back.
so glad they recycled those!
Dang I coulda used some of them trash cans lol
Good vid! Thanks!
It also will either save or make money by recycling the old plastics and selling them, or using them to make more toter bins
i watched this video long ago, that time i think you and the crew are messing with the people XD
I would also think that if the city had the old bins, that it would be a huge waste seeing as it would be several thousand tons if not million tons of plastic that would take halfway to forever to decompose in a land fill
Rubbermaid company loved this video. New sales.
The Rubbermaid's took it like a champ I bet you could pop them back out if you took them out of the truck but why did they have to crush the perfectly good brute with a perfectly functioning dolly
Should have sent a separate truck to pick up those trash cans for recycling
That's jacked up throwing away people good cans
so many good garbage cans
Yep, sure were.
emutiny j
emutiny p
I would think there would be a special pick up day so the old cans could be recycled
read the discription. at least way better then the goddamit landfills
@@Trizo
I read it.
I see waste.
I see landfill.
What do you see?
People need to stop with the, "they should be recycled", and educate themselves. Putting your "recycling" out is the same is leaving cookies and milk out for Santa as a child. You might believe he's really coming and eating them, but he's not. It's just a story to make the kiddies feel better. The VAST majority of "recycling" is not recycled. It's all a shell game. Only about 10% of plastic is actually recycled. The rest is shipped overseas ,which your fantastic politicians count as "recycled". Once overseas it usually winds up dumped in the waterways, oceans, or some crude "landfill". All that plastic in the Pacific is YOURS. lol Just toss everything in the regular trash. Better it go to a landfill here than in the ocean.
Meu Deus que dó de ver tantas coisas boas sendo destruídas é de doer o coração meu pai AMADO
Quantas lixeiras sendo destruídas elas estão boas
Wow good job
A waste of some very good garbage cans.
love how they crush peoples garbage cans also lol
I am supprised those didnt break from the compactor.
The amount of trash cans, I would’ve grabbed
Good that the bins will be recycled
How does the compactor work on the back
Hydraulic
I love this video
Good trash buckets they are throwing away
Really cool video. Thanks!
Thanks, and you're welcome!
that is one small truck
3:00 HEADS UP!
Great Video!
Les poubelles sont neuves. Donc gros gaspillage
to bad could not just shred up the old cans a recycle them then put all that plastic in the land fill take years to brake down
If you read though the comments, you'd have known that all those cans DID get recycled. They were all recovered with any other recyclable material that was thrown in this truck.
read the description
Awesome job
How do you no the truck is full? Can you do the whole route or do you have to go unload?
But the cans were recyclable and should not have been thrown in with trash.

ArmadaNoob trash was in the can
When back up you need to get. Off running board I had a friend who lost his live ! Safety noaccident. drive is responsible for crew. !! 😎
Recycling things that work fine is still terrible for the environment... Just that its slightly less terrible than sending it to landfill.
wow how many trash cans does it take to fill the truck up ....
So, these poor people set their trash out and find their old cans and all thrown away and new ones in their place? What about the people who wanted to keep the old cans for things such as yard waste and other alternative uses? If this happened to me I would be pissed.
ArmadaNoob the rollout already happened the carts thrown away were thrown away by the owner
The description says it was later sorted and recycled...
they literally say trash on them...
I am wishing for those cans and here they are throwing them away like it’s nothing
They can recycle them plastic trash cans !! Too much trash going to the land field
Read the description, they where recycled.
Such a waste of good cans
I live in Nova Scotia Canada & I worked for my local garbage company for 7 years.
It was a WRITTEN RULE to NEVER crush anyone's garbage containers UNLESS they had a note on the can !!
O.M.G I see all these cans there crushing & I just CRINGE !!
What a waste of good cans.
👎😤🤮😥
How old is that thing? I've been on the bins for 20 years and they were old before I started, I'm not in the US though.
Porque el camion lo aplasta tambien el tacho de basura?, porue nomas la basura
and my 10 gal brute can behind me is getting angry
So sad. Those old garbage cans could have had fun some day. mmm hmm.
Do they still do theese can collections?
I could of use that trash can dolly ,would of save my 30 dollars
I can't understand why they cost more than the actual can itself. For the price of each, I could get 2 Brutes instead.
I. No. I. Still. Need. 5. More. Cans😕👍🍺😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😕😕😕😕😕🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
I’m rMr Hermanric act err. Y
Strange not wearing hardly any PPE no gloves or steel toed boots.
guys only wearing 1 glove..cust
3:00 looks just like gta 5
Excilent video man like at 3:01 where the wheels pop off lol cool to see also like when you showed us a please take me sign lol that was funny . Cool to see a bunch of manual bins dumped for toters nice truck as well great video also why were they getting rid of the manual bins anyway ? Great video liking and faving this cool video
Thanks. That's how the residents were instructed to indicate old can removal - a sign that said "Take Me". But some just said "Take old cans" or something similar. Most people didn't need their old cans anymore with the new automated service so they just got rid of them.
I wonder why they got rid of those old cans? Here in the UK bins only get replaced if they are damaged. The bin near my house is 11 years old I think.
The video's description clearly says that the residents did not want the cans anymore since they were no longer needed with the new automated service.
Still. Those heavy duty cans sell for 50$ each or more for the brute cans at Home Depot!!! You coulda make $$$$$
rubbermaid carnage
Yup
yhrhr
Why did you throw away so many garbage cans😀😀
Nice video!!! Tell did you get any of those cans? Wow what a waste going automated or smiautomated where they have tippers on rear loaders??
Thanks. I got quite a lot actually, and 5 on this day alone. They can't get side loaders on most of the route I filmed this on.
esses baldes de lixo com rodinhas estao bom ,porque voces jogam fora?
I want those red ace hardware cans.
They replacing old cans to a new ones with the company logo
Jorge Figueroa I’m better off having the new trash bins from the company, because I don’t have to worry about dragging them without wheels. Yes, I prefer 🗑 bins with wheels in nowadays.
old cans got recycled im sure? great video nonetheless
Thanks Torrey. The workers at the dump prefer them with the trash because they can easily get them out with other obvious items for recycling. The MRF workers complain about larger items such as cans and lawn furniture taking up too much space on the sorting lines.
ya this is great the old cans r all gone now we can watch polly carts
Sanitation94 Videos do they pick them out of the trash for recycling?
Northern Virginia Refuse Yes
cool cool
Gee, now all those "useless" garbage cans being replaced with CR&R approved cans that some contractor is laughing all the way to the bank, since this new system will only work with their cans.
My garbage man once said "this is an exciting job; one never knows what you'll throw in the truck. Lost jewelry, money, and now and then, an ex-wife."
Those plastic bins wouldn't have got recycled; who's going to wade through a lorry load of rubbish, sludge, contaminants etc rooting for squashed plastic bins!? They probably only said they'd be recycled to please the viewers!
Damn what a good waste of still useful cans
Зачем целые баки выкинули?
yo all those can can come to to my routes cus their perfect... i throw cans wit no bottoms allllll day... nd btw i could never deal wit that blade it is slow as shit...! how do you get a route up? lololol
so im guessing crr trash took over
there still usable
Dang could have used a lot of those cans and the people who had those trash cans paid money for those .waste of money
Die lui nemen je cotaener er bij mee lekker is dat kan je weer een nieuwe bestellen
People, I'd imagine the trash company called the customers ahead of time and I'm sure customers had the chance to say, yeh or neh.
Stephen Grenoble what it looks like is that they set them out with a note saying “trash please take me” because I live in that area and they sent a letter saying “put a note on the old trash bins if you want them hauled away” and that’s what we did
Why doesn’t the ram make a complete rotation rather then keep stopping, and wasting time.
what a waste. send the buckets to a poor country or something!!
Even trash cans are garbages themself over there...
Que cosas y ami que me hacen mucha falta esos botes y aya todos los tiran 😞😫
Good they were recycle.
0:31 why are they throwing an old trash 🥫? Anyway, say 👋🏻 to new trash 🛒 for side loaded autocar of 🤚🏻 grabbing garbage truck.
what a waste of good trash cans sadsadsad
eu tava pensado en feset um video de coensedo o lichao
That back up alarm sounds like my school bus on my channel. Go to my recent bus 304 video to see what I mean.
Bonjour pourquoi vous mettez les poubelles dans le camion
No eye protection and not even turning his head when he runs the cycle, he hasn't had something fly out an hit him in the face yet obviously
Nice job man
on to become otto transformers! lol. I would have wanted to save almost all of them
Believe me, there were a lot of good ones that went away before these did. Some of which, I didn't get to grab for myself
that suks. at least you got 5 from this trip, that's something!
I got pictures of some I didn't or couldn't get. Some are on Flickr already and some still have yet to be posted. I've been real lazy on my bin collection update since many need cleaning and there's a water shortage in the region I live in. There are several that are a real mess right now.
No one knows how to read descriptions of videos?
bryan1282 Some people do, some don't. I just get tired of having to answer a question that's explained in a video's description for some people.
hey want in 3:03 the wheels poped off the can how it do tht
Pressure from the packer squeezing the can, and from the way the can was thrown into the hopper.
I like this video
Chris Soto Thanks
me too
Who are u
why throw them away they wear perfectly good.
Cans can look perfectly fine but they can be holes, broken handles or just plain out wore out. They could also of gotten new cans, like from a contract or they bought different cand. This is coming from a picker.
