I love that freakin goal! That's why Forsberg is my favourite non-Canadian player. I know that in the Olympics, "almost" doesn't count, but you gotta give Hirsch credit. He almost had the puck in his glove. If he had put it down a millisecond earlier, he would've had it, and THE SAVE would've been put on a stamp. But, he didn't have it, and that's why we lost the gold and Forsberg became a legend in the hockey world.
I like how they call his last penalty a "kenta nilsson", from here on the same kind of goal was called a "foppa". He basically renamed it after himself ;)
When it comes to hockey nations, all you really need is Sweden, Canada, Russia, Finland. Forsberg = 1 of the greatest,(if not the greatest) all around players of all time.
That goal revolutionized shootouts IMHO. Much love and respect to Sweden from Finland! My mom took me to Sweden (Eslöv) for a month when i was a kiddo and i loved to be there! My stepfather had a job in Sweden so we went there because of that. One of the best summers eventho i can't speak the language or didn't have any friends there. I remember that rains was way different in southern part of Sweden than any part of Finland. Rains feeled tropical, i was all wet in less than one minute. In Finland we don't have rains like that. :P
Its not like were talking about any game. We're talking about The olympic. Final game. Shootouts. A young Peter Forsberg. The stuff legends are made off
As a goalie, I feel for Corey Hirsch on this one. He did everything right except make the save, lol. It's virtually impossible to stop this move from a player with silky hands like Forsberg.
I'm from Sweden and I'd say none are better than the other. That Canada wins over us bit more than we do them, is because our gameplay isn't the best against Canada. Oh well. :)
Det ryser i hela kroppen när jag ser detta =)) Glömmer aldrig OS i Lillehammer! Underbart att du fått upp detta här på RUclips! Toppen! PS: Kolla på mina klipp också...
Lol, I think Russians are all goal scorers (Ovechkin, Kovaliev, Malikin, etc. Canadians are more playmakers (crosby, sakic, etc) Sweedes are both . I like them all really.
Have you heard about the "triple gold club" It contain all players who have won the big things in Hockey, That whould be the stanley cup, world cup and the olympic gold. It contains NINE swedes SIX russians FIVE canadians and two Czechs....
@PatrikLarssonRang yep, in fact swedes have more good nhl players than finland right now but i dont think finland's success in the olympics has been any bad. 4 medals in last 5 olympics.
Det låter som du inte såg matchen. Salo var den enda spelaren i Sverige som gjorde en bra insats, trots missen. Han räddade Sverige från ett ännu större fiasko.
Many Canadians are very talented but so are many Swedes. Think that the population of Sweden is about as musch as that of Quebec. We aren´t that many but still several are doing quite well in the NHL. I´m not like Don Cherry who hates the majority of European players, I love several Canadian players but I think that sometimes Swedes get a little overlooked. Don´t look att the nationality, look at the talent!
listen dude...im one of the biggest crosby fans to walk this earth but last season sid was NOT on the pace for more points...he was averaging 1.36 P/G while ovy was averaging 1.37 P/G..last time is checked thats not more..
3? He took 2 penalties. When no team has the advantage after the normal round of penalties, the teams get one penalty each until one round ends with one scored and one missed. In this exrtended round they are allowed to use the same players from the ordinary round.
@Morshfrozenfury see phreddy87's comment. it was not about the past that i was talkin about. and u talked about last 20 years but last five years is a different story.
They said that Granlund's goal was almost as pretty as Forsberg's, but i have to say that I DISAGREE, Granlund's SO goal against Germany was way prettier...
@NegFi It's an overrated goal actually, all it would've taken for the goalie to save it was to have the glove against the ice sooner, which if you look at the footage wasn't exactly impossible, so I'd call it a goalie mistake, rather than an amazing goal, but the goalie had been amazing in the tournament, and in the game, before that penalty.
listen canada is dominent in hockey, and sweden is too, russia too, i dont like usa tho (lol) kid, my fav player is foppa! so i have respect for sweds, and everyone
It was the greatest rookie season ever. No doubt in my mind. But come on Anaheim and San José has been stacked teams aswell. If Red Wings had Selänne they would have to ditch one or two of their key players so you cant really say that. And saying that if he would be a swede he would have an Olympic gold aswell is just a lame excuse. Only finnish homers could possibly think Selanne is better than Lidas. Lidas is a top20 player EVER to play this game called Hockey. Selanne is not even close.
I'm from Finland but I must say Forsberg is the best hockey player on the World, what a shame that injuries might end his unbelievable carreer...
That really gave me chills. Oh my god.
I love that freakin goal! That's why Forsberg is my favourite non-Canadian player.

Still gets excited when I see this, awesome Forsberg!
When it comes to hockey nations, all you really need is Sweden, Canada, Russia, Finland.

I remember that. Amazing last goal.
This guy is a genius.
Its not like were talking about any game. We're talking about The olympic. Final game. Shootouts. A young Peter Forsberg. The stuff legends are made off
Best penalty hockey goal 🇸🇪
I'm from Sweden, and Peter Forsberg is my idol in hockey, he's the best ever. Too bad he couldn't play in Karjala.
Forsberg is the best hockey player
I agree with the description of this vid 100%. Absolutely amazing!
As a goalie, I feel for Corey Hirsch on this one. He did everything right except make the save, lol. It's virtually impossible to stop this move from a player with silky hands like Forsberg.

The best player ever !!!

@Gooster43 The first move he made on Hirsch was really good as well.

there is no second best
foppa is best player of team sweden of 90's & 2000..
oh my...
That was time when Foppa was still young.
Foppa is the man
Lol, I think Russians are all goal scorers (Ovechkin, Kovaliev, Malikin, etc. Canadians are more playmakers (crosby, sakic, etc) Sweedes are both . I like them all really.
classical!
@Gooster43 The only thing silky about Forsberg is the string he uses to keep the puck on his stick! ;P
My five is Ovechkin Crosby Iginla Lidstrom and Chara
joj joj joj joj joj!
it's the english translation of the name..
its like calling usa Förenta staterna in swedish
Have you heard about the "triple gold club" It contain all players who have won the big things in Hockey, That whould be the stanley cup, world cup and the olympic gold. It contains NINE swedes SIX russians FIVE canadians and two Czechs....
i would say that it goes in waves, sometimes we beat u and other times not, very equality.

@PatrikLarssonRang yep, in fact swedes have more good nhl players than finland right now but i dont think finland's success in the olympics has been any bad. 4 medals in last 5 olympics.

@MncDssctn as a ranger fan, i know corey hirsch's inability to stop the puck well... he was horrid with occasional streaks of above average.
0:47 look at the guy with the ice pack. :P
Four times actually.
why did he shoot 3 times?
when it say "sweden" on your profile^^
@jimih64 Sounds like really excited people from Stockholm (Sweden Capital)

@Morshfrozenfury see phreddy87's comment. it was not about the past that i was talkin about. and u talked about last 20 years but last five years is a different story.
totally. but nhl is way more fun to watch than world hockey
They said that Granlund's goal was almost as pretty as Forsberg's, but i have to say that I DISAGREE, Granlund's SO goal against Germany was way prettier...
@phreddy87 hahaha finland is 76 but they are in final and canada lost first game
Radiosporten maybe?

yeah, but not on a scale as big as the olympics
@Kajtner russia is in another league
Canada is gigantic compared to Sweden so ofc they are good, Russia too.
the one who really invented it was Kenta Nilsson tho :P

Alla snackar om målet men ingen reagerar på de dära "OL-floka rörelserna" innan målet.
Mikael Granlund xD
Never once did I say they were shit players....All Im saying is Canadians have more talent.....Its true!
lol
okej du får tycka det men jag tycker iaf inte det,
Always you skip English classes and makes silly statements, precious.
p.s., I don't know if it's just typical Swedish dialect, but these commentators sound fucking ridiculous.
