    I haven't been able to play CS2 due to hardware restrictions on my PC, but watching this series+ many others is getting me so excited for when I'm able to upgrade and finally play the game for myself.

      Don't listen to the negative opinions about the game. It is truly a large step up from CS1. The game itself is really good, there are just some performance issues (which have largely improved with patching). This is one game where I'm actually excited to pay for future DLC as long as reasonably priced.

    With the Construction of the Freeway Loop it's time for the *BABE*
    The *BABE* , also known as the Bixton, Auburn & Boroughs Express is a light rail subway system connecting the cities of Auburn, Bixton, The international airport and a few points of interest. Being mostly above ground/at grade (the only underground sections are the ones in the city centers) it is a system of which people say "wait, this is just the Seattle Link but with subway trains" and they're damn right!
    What do you think Mayor, should Bixton have the *BABE* ?

    7:07 The complication and layers of road, railroad and highway make it so realistic. You did a really good job capturing that here by building naturally, with the roads and railroads first, and then the highway expansion comes later as the airport was built.

  • @HeytrainPlays
    @HeytrainPlays 8 месяцев назад +9

    I really love how realistic this city feels. Maybe you could add a rail yard or a shunting yard somewhere along the rail lines. Even though it may not be functional it would make the city feel even more realistic

  • @samreagan6292
    @samreagan6292 Месяц назад +1

    11:25 that is absolutely a great idea. I have done the same thing in some of my cities where I couldn't get the bridge height up fast enough to make it look realistic, so I used the vehicle restriction tool to stop trucks from using that road. This was great because this is what happens in real life when the same problem presents itself.

  • @Barox7_

    The IATA code for the airport could be BXT! BIX also works but it is taken by an air force base in Mississippi. Also the runways' flight paths fly directly over the Golden Gate Bridge which could reduce the required obstacle clearance. See if you can do anything about that. With that being said, a few airports around the world and around the US do have obstacles on the approach path of their runways and do facilitate several procedures for that. Love the loop!

  • @s4098429
    @s4098429 8 месяцев назад +1

    When it comes to bridges, you got to take into account the thickness of the structure. 5m sounds good, but that’s road to bridge underside, not road to road surface. 2-3m would be taken up by structure. I think CS2 measures from road to road, that why the numbers Sound big.

    Big episode! A whole new freeway replete with interchanges AND the international airport in less than 40 minutes.
    Food for thought: Might be cool to challenge yourself on future highway projects to use acceleration/deceleration lane lengths and slopes that are based on real world highway design manuals. It definitely makes building infrastructure in the game a lot harder, but it also makes it more strategic and the results are uniformly beautiful.

  • @yomomma6492

    5m would be perfect, interstates have a minimum clearance of 16ft which is 4.9m so that would work out

    Hi! I love your build. I`ve noticed that you barely change the snapping tools for the highway roads building and i think this could be one of the mayor issues that makes you have to redo your intersections manny times before it looks pretty. If you toggle only the adjust to geometry option i thing you will find work quicker with better results. Hope this helps!

    28:05 considering the runways orientation, wouldn't it make more sense for the Northern Runway to connect the northern and western map connection while the Southern Runway takes care of the southern and eastern connection? Its easier to veer off after take off than it is to veer into a landing vector on short final.

    Just as a quick comments about airports: Pearson International in Toronto is roughly as wide as it is long. Denver international is shaped like a giant square pinwheel. Edmonton International is a slightly open L shape. Trudeau International in Montreal is just a tad longer than wide. Atlanta International is basically square. La Guardia (NYC) has the two runways at 90 degrees to each other. Kansas City is also wide with it's three runways, one at 90 to the other two, and so on. Wide international airports aren't uncommon if there's the space for them.

    I get the bypass loop as it resembles bypass interstates in many a Metropolitan areas (like the one I'm acutely familiar with in Cincinnati, OH- the Interstate 275 bypass). However where's the primary interstate freeway that runs thru Bixton that the bypass highway is derived from? Usually the bypass is to alleviate traffic off a main interstate route. Maybe run a main highway(s) that approaches the city from both ends or all 4 ends, with neighborhoods surrounding it as it approaches the CBD. Major junctions at the bypass loop highway, as it approaches the CBD. Then maybe it has a tunnel section with exits that exit onto above ground arterials downtown. Kinda like downtown Seattle? Just a thought as I marvel at this hyper realistic city! Love it.

  • @planeguy8262
    @planeguy8262 8 месяцев назад

    you gotta try dev mode, it'd make things so much easier, all you have to do is switch on "bypass validation results" in the simulations tab, and then you can place things even when it says you can't
    I use it, it has helped me so well
    The only tip you'll need is to save before you use it, or you might get stuck with something you don't like

    If Imperatur can make beautiful complex compact interchanges in his current city with the current state of the highway build functionality, maybe it's just the lack of skill that you have currently. I notice on some of your interchange builds, you don't even use the slope tool much. There are several CS2 youtubers also like PHTN Gaming who can make beautiful compact interchanges. With more practice, you should be able to reach their level too.

    • @a_boat93
      @a_boat93 8 месяцев назад +1

      I think what he came up with is perfectly fine. The reality is highways and interchanges take up a lot of space and that’s always something that needs to be factored in especially under modern US highways principles which I think is what he’s going for. PHTN generally builds East Asian style infrastructure which yes is generally more compact but again that’s not the vibe in this build. Just guessing. But Tim did fine.
