    8:18 “Do you guys know what this means?? ASTRID CAN FINALLY EAT A HORSE.” Probably one of if not the funniest TLD inside jokes I’ve ever seen 🤣🤣 I forget how much I love this community 😂
    All jokes aside, though, great video. You also confirm only Official info unlike some others I’ve seen, which is really helpful. Although the future of Blackfrost may be uncertain right now, i see some awesome mechanics and opportunities for this game, thanks for covering it!!
    P.S. Other hilarious moments in this video I absolutely loved “But that’s just a theory. A Blackfrost theory.” at the end and “Today we’re going to be talking about the elephant in our quiet apocalypse.” at the beginning. 😂

    Also, this is one of the few situations where a CANDU reactor could possibly suffer a failure of the magnitude you describe. Normally, the sheer number of redundant failsafes (both automated and manual) render any sort of radioactive event risk a negligible outcome. However, with the Aurora instantly shorting out all electronics, all of the electronic safety systems would be inoperable (which is a majority).
    Now, one thing they could implement is:
    If there’s no Aurora, the plant has a low radiation level (I’d say equivalent to keeping a small piece of enriched uranium in your pocket while you’re in there. Not deadly, not even dangerous for short times, but prolonged exposure is bad for your health).
    If there is an Aurora, the plant has a potentially lethal radiation dosage, but you can restart the containment procedures and reduce radiation dosage, rendering it safe to enter during regular times.
    P.S. aplologies for commenting twice
    Edit: I’ve been informed it’s not a CANDU reactor (and confirmed by seeing the article for myself), which is both disappointing and slightly frustrating. Artistically, I understand the decision. But it does make a dent in my national pride that we don’t use our own (superior) reactors in our own video games

    Maybe its a bit hopeful but one thing Im hoping gets added is a wider variety of wildlife being put in the game, like bison and caribou in addition to the old animals from Great Bear.
    It could add a couple interesting new mechanics like a small tipi or a lavvuu made from bison hides.

      Yes!! I totally agree- even with the addition of the cougar and ptarmigan in TLD, I’ve often wondered/wished they could add animals like foxes or Musk Oxen- and I’ve especially wished that they could add herd mechanics for animals like Caribou, like you mentioned, or baby animal mechanics that could change your game for better or for worse. I know that a lot of that wouldn’t do especially well in the Long Dark’s gameplay for a number of reasons, but I hope that they get the chance to program something like this in Blackfrost.

    Co-op, not multiplayer. I'd like to see a persistent, changing world, where actions aren't instanced to log ins, and you can play with your friends at different times. They log in, and you've chopped them some wood, you log in the next day, and they've cached some rabbits for you. You can be "The Trader" for each other.

    People keep using the word multiplayer, but the words Hinterland has used are Solo and Co-op. Raph has made it clear in forum postings that there is no intent for any sort of PvP and players are meant to cooperate with each other. I wouldn't expect to see any kind of servers, just standard co-op mechanics on consoles and maybe co-op hosting on PCs.

    The radiation could also be dispersed by a critical containment failure of the reactor vessel. Basically chernobyl, with shards or dust of the fuel rods, ice and snow made of the heavy water used as neutron absorber, or activated salts, metals and such. And graphite, soooo much graphite. And withe the auroras these semi dormant sources spring to life, which then causes radiation.

    • @ComedicLetter
      @ComedicLetter 15 дней назад

      Normally, I’d say that’s an impossibility due to the design of the CANDU reactor rendering such an even impossible. But due to the Aurora frying the electronics, it could be possible since many of the security systems could have failed

    • @steelfire9597

      @@ComedicLetter Brown Bramble isn't CANDU, it's got the giant cooling towers typically seen on US reactors. I suspect that's solely done for game purposes, since it doesn't reflect reality. It does create the perfect situation for the Black Frost. Those towers emit massive amounts of steam when the cooling system runs. With the obvious failures that would have occurred with the First Flare, then an aurora kicking things back on in weird ways, plumes of radioactive steam puffing out into the frozen air would be the perfect medium for a radioactive frost or fog.

      @ my apologies, I hadn’t seen any photo of the plant, I’d just heard about it from this video while driving. Stylistically, I understand using the US reactor. However, I’m disappointed they wouldn’t use the local variety of infrastructure

    I believe that despite all they're saying right now it may go the same way as it happened to Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together. Klei are done with their solo survival game and pumping out content for a successor co-op version of it now exclusively. Yes the games will coexist but mostlikely not co-thrive so I'd bet that everything will depend on how people will take Blackfrost so Hinterland could have more and more intensives to update it instead and all we could hope for TLD best case scenario would be once-a-year qol fixing bugs updates.

    Imagine getting incapacitated, telling your friend to save you and then waking up in the reactor's core xd. But put that aside, this seems like an interesting approach to a coop TLD game, I would really like it if the aurora was made more punishing, because in normal TLD it feels intimidating, but isn't something that the average horse eater can't manage. I guess time will tell.

  • @renatobfa
    @renatobfa 14 дней назад

    So pumped to see this game released... I only hope that the feel of the original game is not lost. TLD is the first game I trully felt immersed. The games shines so much because of that. Co-op / multiplayer would be a big challange... It can be brilliant and I hope they can execute it in way that solo players would still be able to fully enjoy the experience too, besides being great at co-op of course. The things I feel the game (TLD) needs to address IMO would be 1) randomize every item spawn in the game (no more known locations to get X, Y, Z items.... super immersion killer and its basically a 'cheat'), 2) more end game things do to (like collecting more stuff or more variety of tools that makes things a little bit different, like 3 kinds of axes or something... 3) more variety on dificulties (stalkter to interloper is kinda a big jump), and overall.... 4) more meaningful badges to gain and use as skills on future runs... 5) being able to craft a bedroll? hahahaha. 6) just to make the game UI a touch faster, like setting up prefered methods for breaking branches using "bare hands first" instead of defaulting to Axe, or lighting fires with mag lens instead of defaulting to matches, that kinda of speed gain seems little, but once you have it , you will miss a lot if taken away...

  • @OgreProgrammer
    @OgreProgrammer 15 дней назад

    Beachcombing in TLD is a surprisingly fun aspect of the game, and I wish there were more items to be found, especially items only found that way. I'd hope the new game takes that into account, and further, it could be a way of progressing the story by having things wash up after a time.

    Are there servers that u can join like rust and minecraft or are there gonna be public servers like gta online where if u die u spawn in a new server
    And if u die are u like banned from the server or are they going to do like the cheat death system where u can spawn back in but with a lot of debuffs
    Oh And I wonder if u can bunker down in a base and try to put boobytraps around it so noone can steal ur loot....that... that would be awesome
