- WORLD-CLASS STOMP-BOX AMP MODELER.
Nowadays the Amp-less approach is quickly becoming a trend for modern musicians-like guitarists who appreciate a variety of pedals and amps, but don’t have the luxury of a roadie crew to lug all of them around.
Amp Academy inherits NUX TSAC-2K (White-box Amp Modeling) algorithm which delivers the sound and feel of world-class tube amplifiers in a super-portable stomp-box enclosure. And, its huge headroom and dynamic range is a pedal friendly platform.
On Stage:
Add Amp Academy to any pedal chain and connect to a mixer or PA system for excellent tone, control, and flexibility during live performance.
Monitor through the in-house monitoring system or in-ear monitors.
For a dedicated personal on-stage monitor, connect your pedalboard to a powered FRFR speaker.
(NOTE: If you want to engage/disengage IR signal with DI OUT, please HOLD A/B foot switch and power the pedal. IR ON: A/B indicators will flash 3 times. IR OFF: A/B indicators will NOT flash.)
In Studio:
Connect Amp Academy directly to a recording interface for excellent guitar tone, instantly, without the need to set up an amp or microphones. (Toggle IR OUT switches to UP position if you want to use the IR signal for 1/4” out. If you want to engage/disengage IR signal with DI OUT, please HOLD A/B foot switch and power the pedal. IR ON: A/B indicators will flash 3 times. IR OFF: A/B indicators flash will NOT flash.
At Home(Silent Practice):
Connect headphones or monitors directly to Amp Academy’s 1/8” PHONE OUT to experience immersive classic amp tones in a natural sounding room without an amp.

Great review Helmut. A good mix of informative chat and, as always, great playing.
Came for the pedal, stayed for the guitars!
Bored? Heck no! I admire your no bullshit style. Regards from Australia.
Great playing brother 💯🤘🏾🕺🏾🕺🏾 cool animated visual on that last jam👌🏾
Sounds good! I want to see a comparison video with the Amp Academy and The Simplier Deluxe before I pull the trigger. I think those are the best Amp in a box pedals right now.
Vielen Dank.
Insbesondere für das aussdrucksstark geschmackvolle Gitarrenspiel und dadurch das Aufzeigen der klanglichen Möglichkeiten dieses kleinen “Amps“.
🍀🍀🍀
This presentation/commentary swayed me to order one. Thank you Helmut.
I just got a used Nux amp academy off of Reverb studied the reviews
it was like a no-brainer.
It sounds great and I’ve 11:57 done quite a bit of recording with it already very impressed with the tones that I can conjure up with this unit The drives are also very useful. Got some great tones right away. The software is easy to use.
I would recommend this to anybody that’s looking for this type of solution
Bought one a little while back. What I find outstanding cleaner tones out of it, like your second 2 sounds. That stuff seems a bit more difficult to emulate correctly due to a weird, thin, brittle high end artifact that most devices are plagued with. Got rid of my Line 6 and Fractal Audio stuff, keeping this.
Enjoyed your playing and the tones you achieved.
Very nice review Helmut, as usual. I wish you would spend time on how you connected the NUX amp to different components (or viceversa) for the newbies. Thanks!
Thanks for the informaction, it is very complete. Good work!!!
Awesome playing!
excellent video!! I hope one day I can buy one, thanks!
Thank you for helping me understand this product. Just what I've been looking for.
Was looking at Fender gxt100 for line in recording, I think I will like this better.
Thanks again!
Huge Play!
Great review and great playing
This is the core of the new NUX Trident...
Yes, I too am 58 here in a month and forget all the tweaking and scrolling and fiddling and Jesus Crist forget about it. Plug and play. I understand USB to store IR's and unlock some parameters but forget all that Modeling Line6 BS. Great Channel for a Geezer like myself. Yeah, I got one lol. Got 'em all.SMFH.
NICE PLAYING ! i don't think it's anything to do with age, no one like LCD displays and scrolling through loads of menus, anyone that has used a proper amp knows that keeping it simple is best. Unfortunate that this seems to almost require connecting up to a PC, i think it seems that it is aimed at people recording music but could possibly work for live, if the sounds are good enough, i guess i just won't know unless it try it. Have you tried it through a power amp pedal and into a real cab for on stage? that's really what i want at the moment, i'm not ready to give up a CAB on stage.
I´ve only used it straight into PA - that´s what I think it was built for.
Very very good.
Yes. Ive got a Nux Cerberus
Just taken delivery of an NGS6. Manual implies it is just plugged in and links to PC, DAW and Editor app. It doesn't ! None of those recognised the unit. Tried updating drivers but that didn't help. Took me half a day any several emails to the supplier and NUX before finding out that I had to ignore the message on the software updater that says the NGS6 could not be detected before updating the firmware. Why do I have to do that anyway? Surely the supplier - Artist -and/or NUX should ship a turnkey product. It's not for Customers to make things work! After updating and trying many combinations within the editor found that NO combination was to my liking. The only good thing about the NGS6 is that it is a nice clear i/f into my Reaper DAW. Otherwise I don't like it at all!
hey Helmut do you sale those backing tracks.
Ik heb hem ook besteld en krijg hem binnenkort
Can i use this for clean guitars and acoustics... just need the boost compressor eq reverb drum looper etc...
Ciao Helmut, si there any chance you make a video on Amp Academy + Cerberus, showing the full potential (connections, saving patches)?
Ciao Obenda.
I recorded this one a few weeks ago. As I got carried away quite a bit by the sheer sound options this combination gave me, I never planned to publish it. Until you asked for it.... ;-) ;-) ;-)
DISCLAIMER: This is not a product review or tutorial. It´s just some unrehearsed noodling through various sound combinations using the 4-cable method.

@@helmutshatner Thank you! By the way nice tremolo playing with the Luke 3, I definitively need that guitar. On elast question if you may answer: I've got a Nux Cerberus, which is in your opinion the best companion for it, the Nux Solid studio or the Map academy (I play direct to mixer)?
@@obendaperkins5574 I am not sure about the Studio. But the Amp Academy will surely give you plenty of very good amp models as well.
@@helmutshatner Grazie mille!
Vielen Dank! Are any of the preloaded amps any good for acoustic guitar?
Waoo and what an awesome guitarist! I just subscribed. Tchuess
Great video Helmut. Hope you are starting to do a few gigs around your area. No
real amps anymore on stage? How did it sound?
It worked absolutely fine! These modern amp modellers really feel and sound like real amps.
Thanks for the review, finally one with a good sound quality. I can't wait to have mine, it is supposed to ship by the end of the month. You used the included IR's or you loaded your own?. What amp model did you use for the first sample and the last?.
All sounds are from factory IRs. First and last examples are (if I remember right) the Diezel VH4 amp.
Tolles review, danke Helmut. Von wo hast du den Nux bezogen? Ich seh ihn noch nirgends in stock.
NUX hat mir ein Vorserienmodell geschickt. Es sollte aber wohl ab April auch offiziell erhältlich sein.
Thanks so much for the review! Is it possible to run into two amps for stereo?
Also, LOL, thank you for some cool chord voicings I stole from you that you played in the MG30 demos!!
The Amp Academy is only mono. As it also has a XLR (DI) output, you could use this one (with IR) into PA and the regular output (with or without IR) into an amp.
@@helmutshatner ok, thanks so much! Killer playing, my friend!
@@rogerwilliams2629 Thank you for your kind words!
If i already own MG300 or MG30, do I still need this Amp Academy?
Not necessarily. But for this price it's a nice gadget to have or a no brainer as a backup for any kind of gigs
Loved the review. What were your settings for the outro lead solo?
Factory preset DIE VH4
Where’s William, is he back from space already ?
Sorry, had to
:-) :-) :-)
how It works as an audio interface? sorry if you played in the video and I don't notice, but, It works fine? all other reviews are made of another interfaces + amp academy, like scarlett, I wanna know how It works by itself, thank you!
I am sorry, but used it through a Scarlet as well. Not for a certain reason, but just because I had the Scarlet already wired up.
ok, thank you
can i put it directly into a cabinet? thanks
Nope
Great review! How do you like your PRS Fiore?
It's a great and very versatile guitar
@@helmutshatner Would you consider it a good option to replace the PRS S2 Studio you played?
@@oldtimer99 Yep!!!
what type of usb does it need?
It is type c both ends - for beginners
How do you feel about the Amp Academy's on fender clean tone?
ruclips.net/video/y6zWYsTFWvI/видео.html
Very nice and sounds authentic as well!
@@helmutshatner thanks Helmut.
👍🏻👍🏻
your playing at the end is VOW!
there is not a single inch or part of guitar that you are not using - Just VOW!
