- After my friend told me about a bizarre abandoned gingerbread cabin built illegally in the national forest in Washington State, I had to go search for it and find it myself. This Gingerbread Abandoned Cabin was built by a convicted felon by the name of Daniel Wood who used the cabin as a hideout of sorts. Daniel was convicted and sent to prison this year in 2019.

How on earth did Daniel build this cabin without anyone knowing or seeing him ? I think there is more to this story then the employees or saying..
It's actually really easy. Especially in really remote areas people tend to mind their own business (hence why his car was never reported). I live in WA and I've spent a lot of time in the wilderness, living off grid and doing a lot of "weird" things in the woods and no one really cares what you do so long as you're not bothering them or being destructive.

@@evangeline77x it seems to be more and more rare. My dad had some remote getaway land out in WA and he stopped keeping anything there or working on his structure, because everything keeps getting stolen.
@@rrpostalagainTrue, that's definitely becoming more and more of a significant issue. Things like deforestation, suburban encroachment, tweakers and a general crack down intended to target illegal activity (drug use/traficking/cultivation, illegal fishing/trapping/poaching, squatters, hazardous waste/ dumping, etc) are making it harder to sustain an off grid space like this. But it also really depends on the area, the more remote the location the more likely you're to go unnoticed.
If I saw someone carrying a bunch of lumber in the woods, I'd assume it's a park ranger repairing or upgrading the trail, maybe even installing an outhouse.
Be careful going to locations like that in the middle of no where, your safety is more important we wouldn’t want anything to happen to you, love your channel

@Helping Heroes Hatzidakis I don't think killed any kids ,I think it was just cp, or potential cp. Not seeing anything in the video they would be considered CP. For the looks of it it's just a very whimsical cottage in a fantasy style. Of course the fact that it's on government land, And apparently according to the poster they took several pictures Dale that were Questionable. But as far as what's in the cabin now I don't see anything wrong or creepy.
It looks like he was into psychedelics. I'm guessing he came to this cabin to trip and has the pictures set up to help engage himself in a fantasy setting of a gingerbread cabin in the woods with elves, fairies, pixies, demons, etc...

I've not seen anything creepy about his cabin either. The most horrific part to me, is the lack of toilet and shower!

Yep exactly I know. I was shocked! 9 months is nothing. Supposedly, the court gave him the high end of the range for someone with no prior convictions. I still think they need to change the law to make it a longer sentence in general.

If you are not a reporter or a police officer or even an investigator then it's not your job to be doing that and it's also illegal we know we spent a lot of money on our licence to report why are you trying to do something outside the realm of the law. Least it's off the forest floor. There is no way in hell he stayed there in the winter. The area gets several feet of snow annually. @@mandynailsit6803 weird people, and weird things that they leave behind. One time we came across an area that was like a small camp under some trees. Some of the trees were decorated like Christmas trees, but the hanging ornaments were all sorts of dead animals. Cats, squirrels, rabbits etc.

The exterior makes sense as the randomization helps the cabin blend in. So it served a dual purpose. This guy could get his rocks off in a child like environment while trying to remain hidden. - He should be charged under federal law for damages caused to a National Forest and then fined for clean-up, environmental rehabilitation, and for the estimated cost of 5-10 years worth of area supervision. - Only 2 counts of smut & 9 months? Where is the logic in that?

Inspired by this video, I did some online researching of my own on this. Seems to be some conflicting information. One article states the 9 month sentence was 'near the top' of the sentencing guidelines for what he was convicted of. The initial production of child porn charge was dropped, yet one article claimed some of the framed pictures were actually photographed inside the cabin....which seems highly improbable. Was there any evidence or claims he actually had kids there? Not that I've seen. Also, while the depictions shown on the wall in this video may not be everyone's taste, they certainly wouldn't rise to the level of child pornography. Yet the claims of photos found of actual girls engaging in sexual activity absolutely would, so why would the state agree to bargain down to much lesser charges? Just makes no sense whatsoever. One other thing I've noticed, after looking through many articles written both before and after his conviction, I cannot find even one picture of this guy. My gut is telling me there's more to this story than what is known by the public.

I'm Law Enforcement, but what he is showing in this video, stating that it's really Creepy; I just don't see it. It's art, as Simple as that.

I'm of the same opinion, I haven't seen a picture of this guy, what his vocation or progression is, he is obviously talented, I own a Cabinet and custom Furniture business and that is not just some shed or shack in the woods, it's detailed and fairly well thought out. He's probably one of the first Tiny house builders. I would love to read more about the whole story from multiple point of views.

The nine month sentence was probably for being found guilty of building a structure on National Parkland.

I was thinking the same thing. Child pornography is a different story if he had those as well but all of this other stuff looks like my home. I don’t have as many pics of the fae but I do have some. An the carvings above the porch looks like sigils. My guess is that he wanted to get more in tuned with the fae and this would be a great place for that. Really like this place. Wasnt creepy at all, I thought. I am not condoning anything the man did illegally. Just admiring such a beautiful small home outside and inside. Hidden within the woods. Actually have always wanted that, except as a cabin with an old castle behind the cabin, an old toolshed to work in projects. No people around me. That's been a dream of mine since childhood.

It is highly unknown. Unless you know where it is, you won't randomly stumble upon it. It is that hidden and far, far off the trail. That's my guess why it has been left in such pristine condition. I am looking at trying to do part 2 though to see if it is still there.

Well at the time I went, I didn't know that he was released yet from prison. I only found the article that he was released after I got home and was doing my voice over. So glad he wasn't there.

actually looked like he pretty smart on building materials, he used light weight mdf for ceiling instead of heavy plywood. he used 1x1 and 1x2 and 2x2's instead of heavy 2x4,s then one roll of roofing paper to use as shingles for the whole house

There is no way you could find it by pure luck hiking around. It's that hidden and off the trail. So thankfully my friend who found it, gave me some directions. How did he carry all that stuff there? Kitchen chairs, mattresses, book cases, etc. That is heavy items. He would basically have to carry them one piece at a time. Or he had help. Some of these i would say he needed help to carry.
Sled probably, but doesn't help with the cliff face. It would certainly require him to be incredibly industrious.
@@Sinsteel pulleys and ropes. Even on building sites today we still rely on the old dolly to pull shit up. Could've even used a powered winch. Looks pretty remote. Doubt anyone would blink at a generator or a winch working out there.

I can understand escaping reality, but retreating into a fantasy world filled with elves, pixies, sprites and fairies is an indicator this guy was not in touch with reality. As far as the pictures that were taken by the police go, he was definitely into something sick. Nine months in prison was probably for just having child porn photos, otherwise he’d be in prison a lot longer if he was found guilty of anything worse than that.

Totally agree - it's a very cool little place - would LOVE to have it. Reminds me of Vermont. If the "1000's of photos" he allegedly possessed, if that is true, then it is criminal, and justice prevailed. But if that was as melodramatic as this guy is making it out to be, THAT is a bigger shame.
Very melodramatic. He structure, the artwork (because that is exactly what it is) the environment, etc., seems to be the world of someone into the realm of fairies, nymphs, and magic. Absolutely beautiful statue of the nymph just outside the cabin! The print of the lady bending over the fairy ring is circa 19th century entitled "Midsummer Eve" by Robert Hughes. I have a lithograph I'm very happy to own, also a print of a fairy astride a quarter moon - very iconic. Anyway, I know nothing about the man, but I DO know melodrama when I hear it - I just wish people wouldn't do it at the cost of others, and those who are not educated on the subjects of which they speak would JUST SHUT UP.

According to online sources that cabin is located about 8 miles up Southeast Middle Fork Road, Snoqualmie National Forest Washington State.
Trying to find it once you leave the trail is another thing all together. It's nearly impossible to find unless you've been there before. I'm lucky my friend went before me

Ok, hes weird. And I dont know what else he had here, or in his other home. But Ive seen nothing here of a sexual nature. These pictures are of forest nymphs, fairies and pixies. Nothing that I havent seen in my kids fairy books. So theyre naked, most fairies are scantily clad, or wearing flowers or strategically placed leaves. Theres even some famous fairy pictures here, painted in the 1890s .My wife did craft classes with primary school age kids, and so had an album full of fairies pics, like these, for the kids to use as a guide for making fairy dells with gumnuts, moss, twigs etc.

The pictures that were left in the cabin were obviously of fairies 🧚 and nymphs. I am sure they were left behind because having pics like those aren’t illegal but ones of children of a sexual nature were taken into evidence. Trust me investigators would never leave porn around so you’re right everything left behind is not bad.
All the actual illegal pictures were taken away by the sheriff's office. There were several paintings that I didn't show on camera that were extremely erotic or vulgar.
