    Few more facts
Lee know wasn't just a person with previous dance experience he would technically be a professional. I think the way he dance degree was setup he was on his way to become a professional choreographer for idols tbh. Like he was a PROFESSIONAL professional and you can see that in his technique
Stray kids are have honestly a lot of control over their music since they are the main producers/writers ect. Like I think JYP *helped* make 1 song for skz and that "ALL IN" he mentioned in a interview with the kids how neverous he was since it was the first time he ever really worked, producing wise with the kids

In comparison to any K-pop group from JYP and many in K-pop groups in general Stray Kids have a LOT of creative freedom.
Stray Kids were an experimental group by JYP and they took a big risk when he allowed Chan to build his own team, this has not been done in K-pop before.Jyp provides stray kids with their needs but tends to focus on company’s others groups but that’s not always bad because it means stray kids have a lot of freedom in their music that other artists don’t. As for choreography for their main singles it’s usually always choreographed by a professional however from what I know lee know and hyunjin both choreographed their own dances. Lee Know has contributed to the choreography on a bunch of the group's title tracks, but arguably his most important work is the group's pre-debut single “Hellevator.” And hyunjin does his own choreography he likes to release not included in their albums or anything.
    Hope this helps :)

Of course they *all can do everything* , but generally:
Bang Chan - focuses on making music and singing (his laptop with songs is our holy grail)
Lee Know - focuses on dancing (teaching others choreo. is dance leader) and singing (falsetto king)
Changbin - focuses on songs (mainly lyrics) and rapping. Also often takes charge of music recording.
Hyunjin - focuses on dancing and rapping. Is the most popular and most loved member by STAYs.
Han - focuses on everything lol (group's chaotic genius). Mostly writes lyrics, sings and raps. Ace of 4th gen k-pop.
Felix - focuses on dance and rap (still shy with singing). Our deep voice king.
Seungmin - focuses on vocals (main vocal in skz), rap when needed (did Han's raps during concert when Han couldn't be there)
IN - focuses on vocals. Is the clear and sharp voice of the group adding spice to songs.

So Stray Kids were technically formed through a survival show but unlike most what had happened is Bang Chan had been a trainee for like 8 years at this point. All of his friends had debuted or left. But JYP kind of recognised something unique in Chan and decided to experiment and let Chan make his own group. So Chan picked and organised all the members, he based it around 3racha who had already made a mixtape etc. at this time, but he selected each of them and he managed it all. When the group was picked at the next JYP rookie group at a showcase they essentially filmed the pre-debut process. Because noone had really seen the group and the company hadn't picked the members JYP gave them a series of 'missions' to basically prove they were good enough to debut. It was mega stress on Chan. He was running rehearsals, staying up all night working on songs, constantly under threat of losing members who were kind of family to him by this point. The wrote every single song they performed in those evaluations and every single one got released afterwards with JYP and several outside experts being stunned that this group who were like aged 16-21 were writing like this. Through the process two of the members actually got cut (Lee Know and Felix), due to a mixture of nerves in evaluation performance and Felix's Korean level at the time. However, because the group was such a unit they really made a point every chance they got that they were a (at time) 9 member group. Chan asked Lee Know to be their dance leader pretty early on and even after being cut he kept turning up to their rehearsals to help them. In the end JYP gave them a chance to perform as a 7 and as a 9 to decide on the final debut number. He concluded that although the 7 was more technically perfect, there was a chemistry and a joy on their faces when he saw them perform as a 9 that was completely unique. So basically, SKZ defied almost every typicality of the kpop process. Bang Chan wanted to make a group that did absolutely everything themselves and they have done most of it from the very beginning but I think at this point there is such a level of trust in SKZ and Chan as the leader that JYPE are willing to take the risks on them and give them the freedom. It's also why things like SKZ Player are so cool- the members will break up into pairs or solos and try new skills. For example, Hyunjin, when you asked if he was a contemporary dancer after seeing the Billie Eilish dance clip, he actually did that for a SKZ Player. He recognised he was lacking in fluidity and flexibility so studied contemporary dance and choreographed his own piece. Later in the year we're (hopefully) due to get an album compilation of some of the songs the members have written for SKZ Player that have never been released anywhere but youtube so far. They are such an interesting group in their creativity and commitment to versatility.

As far as I'm aware there's only two songs in Stray kids discography where 3racha has zero credits, out of the two songs, one was a collab with another artist so the song was under the other label's control. And the other song was written by Lee know, Felix and Hyunjin which is why 3racha have no credits on it.

  • @stacie1595
    @stacie1595 2 года назад +20

I already commented but I have things to say lol!
So first, as a lee Know bias, this guide doesn't dive enough into him and his personality for me. He isn't the member that catches your attention when you first watch the MVs, but lee Know is the member every stay has a soft spot for at the end of the day because he has such a unique personality and is quietly caring (tsudere). He also does a lot of variety stuff (MC, cooking show, fishing show, radio show, idol dictation) and has been gaining a lot of popularity this last year. He was in really high demand for the end of year performances with 1 of his fancams having more views than the collab stage itself (Tiger inside 98 liner cover).
Second, they have A LOT of creative freedom! It's kind of a running joke that JYP is scared of Stray kids, particularly 3racha, because they are not afraid to tell him his music sucks if it does. Changbin and Lee Know have a particular "disdain" for JYP (it's not that serious but you should see the side eyes they give that man sometimes). Otherwise, They have a few in house producers and technicians they work with but they've also put songs on albums that were recorded on Chans laptop in his private studio so, yeah.

For their creative freedom there is good example. When did God's Menu come out skz told us story about how this happens. In first they are planned to make another song the title track on this album. But God's Menu was liked by all members and especially Hyunjin so they went to their team and asked them to change the title track and jype gives a permission to them. So they are remade all the stuff shortly for almost done comeback! Nobody in company heard this song before.
JYP trusts skz so much so they are just makes songs, bring it to their division and do the comeback without going through evaluation of head of the company (which is general for other artists).
No need even to talk about how in predebut their first mission was make song and choreo in a week almost completely by themselves and bring it to JYP judge. And JYP hinself was shoked by the register of the song (too high! female register!). Skz back then did amazing work and song kinda get viral (song name is Hellevator)

To your question near the end.
There will always be a degree of the control that a company like JYP Entertainment has over what music is created by their idols but JYP himself trusts Chani (BangChan- who trained for over 7 years in their system) so they (3racha) are given more leeway.
Check out the video, "three men in colorful pants (10% 3RACHA, 90% laughter)"
    ruclips.net/video/bgYJNYOawIc/видео.html
It is the 100th episode of 'Chani's room' and the other members of 3racha (Changbin and Han) joined him to celebrate. It's a wonderful fan made video of them. Hysterical with the bonus of showing the way they create music. Their different personas and styles of writing.
It has been a joy watching your discovery of Stray Kids, thank you for reacting to them!

Hey! Its my first time watching your videos, and I loved your reaction!
Hyunjin originally wasn't a dancer, so he had to learn it from 0 when he became a trainee! He has mentioned he started learning contemporary to improve his balance and flexibility while dancing!
Also keeping a finger or pen in mouth makes it difficult for the tongue to move.. so when you remove the pen/finger after a while, the tongue is able to move with speed and accuracy while rapping!
Felix's speaking voice is actually lower that the one we see him speak in! According to the members, Felix raises his voice a lot when he is on camera!
Also take care!! I hope you get well soon!

You’re absolutely right about Han being the ace. While all members do dance, rap and sing to different degrees, making them a group of all rounders, there's no denying that Han does everything at an extremely high level. And on top of that he's also part of the production line and he already has 107 songs to his name at the age of 21, making him the youngest Idol with 100+ KOMCA credits, thus making him the ace of the group and also a very strong ace of aces in general. (Not just in stray kids or 4th gen but in all of kpop).

    Get well soon as well..
As for your question, almost 98% of their songs are mainly composed by 3racha. Lyrics I know 100% are them.. On theirs songs u would at least see 1-3 arranger or composer added.
Freedom when it comes to song I think the freeist I've seen so far in any kpop group I stan since Bigbang..
Chan often plays spoiler & raw version of their music & that something u cannot do unless u have ownership of the songs itself.
Ideas, I know mainly came from them.. Seen them discuss a lot of their music creations, u could really tell they know what they're doing & owned up to it.

So as for jyp himself I believe he’s only made one song for them. As for the label, so far they seem to be the best supported out of all the boy groups so far although that’s not saying a lot when you know how jype treats boy groups. They do pretty much have artistic control over what they make but they do bring other producers in occasionally

I'm a little late to the party so you'll most likely never see this comment but I'm binge watching your videos in order on Dec 14th 2022 and you asked if there was another guide you should check out. I've watched your reaction to this person and I'd never seen this guide before but it is accurate. However I prefer the "2022 Long but Updated Guide to StrayKids" by TeaNoSuga (just my preference). I've watched people react to her guide probably 15 times and I never get tired of it because in my opinion it's just very easy to watch, it's accurate and detailed. Not saying this guide wasn't good or accurate but I just prefer the way TeaNoSuga layed out her guide in a more comprehensive, easier to swallow and absorb way. Like I said this is the first time I've seen this guide and it's good and accurate but I don't think I could watch it over 15 times like I have with TeaNoSuga's. You can watch hers or not. It's perfectly fine either way. I'm only mentioning it because you asked if there was another guide 😉. Anyway I'm enjoying watching your journey into my favorite group! • @kamreacts4009
      @kamreacts4009  2 года назад +7

Everyday, yes I can speak Korean but am limited in vocabulary due to lack of usage. Lyrically, I can understand for the most part if I'm listening for it. If I'm just listening casually, I absolutely miss lyrics. haha. I think in general, from the music I've heard thus far, they're not too fast and they annunciate very well. Han tends to rap fast but not to the point where he sacrifices understandability (very respectable!). As for how it "sounds", it sounds great! Part of the reason why I've been enjoying them is because their rap verses are fun to listen to and it does not come off as forced, cringey or fake. There are plenty of "rappers" in kpop groups in the first and second gen that obviously were not good at rapping but they are the rappers... Couldn't stand those.
At some point, after listening enough, I think you'll continue to broaden the ability to hear and understand the words in Korean. I definitely went through a phase in my life where my Korean had dropped so low that I could barely understand any lyrics at all, nevermind rap. Keep at it and your Korean will undoubtedly grow! (I am an example!)
