Blur: Top 10 Songs (x3)

- Опубликовано: 21 июл 2024
- One of the seminal bands of the Britpop era, Blur are known perhaps even more for their singles than their albums. The most famous arguably being Country House, which narrowly beat out Roll With It in the "Battle of Britpop".
Despite never really crossing over in the United State, Blur were quite massive in their native Britain, racking up 13 UK Top 10s, including the No. 1's Country House and Beetlebum. From their auspicious debut on Leisure, Blur's charted singles were: She's So High, There's No Other Way, Bang, Popscene, For Tomorrow, Chemical World, Sunday Sunday, Girls and Boys, To The End, Parklife, End of a Century, Country House, The Universal, Stereotypes, Charmless Man, Beetlebum, Song 2, On Your Own, M.O.R., Tender, Coffee and TV, No Distance Left to Run, Music Is MY Radar, Out of Time, Crazy Beat, Good Song, and Under the Westway. ... That's a lot of UK Hits.
Here in the US, only There's No OTher Way and Girls and Boys charted on the Billboard Hot 100.
Which songs did our hosts pick? Tune in and find out, then leave your top 10s in the comments.

I used to live just around the corner from where Blur recorded their self-titled album and "13".
Not far away, there was a music store. One day, when I was in the store trying out guitars, in walks Damon Albarn.
As a joke, I started playing "Girls & Boys" on the guitar I was holding. Damon immediately heard this and came over to me.
"Hey, why are you playing that shit?" he asked. "Err....you wrote it!" I said.
He stood silent for a moment and then smiled. "Yeah. Sorry about that."
And then we both started giggling and he walked away.
Moody bloke. But a nice one.
Him trying to cancel his old work is what I like least about him. Great story though. - Joe
@@TastesLikeMusic Now we got Bono doing likewise with his U2 work. I just don't get it.

Blur was probably my favourite band as a teenager (with Smashing Pumpkins - 90s teen here), so this week was pretty good to recover some lost memories.
trimm trabb needs more recognition
Good to see mentions for Trouble in Message Centre in these comments. Great track.
That was always one of my favorites years back. But they have so many hits I couldn’t fit it on. - Joe

AHHHHHH yes finally someone who recognizes that This is a Low is a MASTERPIECE. It's so dear to me that the chorus is tattooed on my arm. The solo is genius. And thank you for choosing All Your Life and yes, it definitely should have been fit onto that album somehow. Cheers, guys, I really enjoyed seeing your picks

6. This Is A Low
7. Mirrorball
8. Sweet Song
9. On My Way To The Club
10. Yuko and Hiro
First time I read that Yuko and Hiro is on someone's top Blur songs 😮
Loads of amazing B-Sides throughout their career too - I've always been a sucker for the off kilter genius of (especially) Threadneedle Street, No Monsters in Me, All We Want and others
I've always loved the guitar tone on "No Distance Left to Run". It's just got the perfect amount of dirt.
It's a fuc*ing wicked 🎸 & brilliant track.
The thing that shocked me the most about that track was how direct and obviously personal the lyric was/is. No hiding behind characters or being cryptic about it on that one.
I just listened to Parklife from front to back before watching this video and was struck (once again) by what a fantastic song To The End is, so I’m glad to see it on all 3 of your top 10 lists. Badhead and This Is A Low are two of my other favourites on the album. I have to say I’m really enjoying Blur week so far, keep up the good work guys! 👍
1.Yuko and Hiro - sublime restrained and quirky character vignette - always reminds me of an Ozu movie
2.This is a Low - Gorgeous tune
3.Tracy Jacks - A Paul Weller modish update for the 90's
4. Country House - nice homage to Ray Davies - references Animal Farm
5. To the End - The ambitious vid is a pop Last Year at Marienbad
6. The Universal - Yes, the Future has been Sold. Satellites in Every Home. (Pretty Much ).
Thank You for Covering. Great job as Always !
They have great deep cuts, but it's so hard to not pick a bunch of singles here.

I could easily do a top 30 or 40, so narrowing the list to 10 was not easy.
Me too! In fact, there are only like 12 tracks of Blur albums which I don't like. Most of them from Leisure tbh 😂
It's difficult to choose just 10 (in no order)...
1. Popscene
2. Young and Lovely

Ha, Joe put "All Your Life" in his Top 10... was NOT expecting that to make an appearance. Respect!
PopScene…underrated song. There’s no way that didn’t inspire Radiohead a smidge…..
@@mrp4242 If I remember correctly, they refused to reissue it for a long time after their careers finally took off with Parklife, but was frequently in their live set for the benefit of those that knew it!
Young and Lovely! Yes - love that song - there's a great live version of it on here they played at Hyde Park gig.
@@Kokeshiflower I think it was supposed to go on Modern Life is Rubbish but somehow didn't make it on there.
Many great songs and too much a headache to put to order but surprised no-one mentions Theres No Other Way off debut album and single. I man what a killer starting riff!
Songs:
1. 🏆 There’s No Other Way (Leisure). This is the song that got me into them. Lots of nostalgia with this one in high school.

7. Charmless Man _The Great Escape_
6. Bang _Leisure_
5. Oily Water _Modern Life Is Rubbish_
4. Chemical World _Modern Life Is Rubbish_
3. The Universal _The Great Escape_
2. This Is A Low _Parklife_ - I saw Blur live in 1997 & "Low" was the big show ender. As Coxon's solo soared, the band rained down "blur" imprinted balloons on the crowd as the discoball pinlights illuminated the venue. One of my great Britpop memories.
1. Sing _Leisure_ b-side - Years before _Trainspotting,_ I heard this track on Rodney Bingenheimer's midnight KROQ show around 1991. Completely blew my mind. _Trainspotting_ was the next time I'd heard it & only then did I discover it was, in fact, by Blur.
Wow you must have listened to the US or Japan version of Leisure album, because Sing is the 6th track of the UK version
Just '42' (I missed to the end whilst numbering the songs....oooops changed it to correct list now 😂☺️....was always in my top 10...👍) songs noted down this week which means I really liked at least 5 songs on average per album. That's good going Blur. My top 10 followed by the other 31 with notes as I listened as usual...👍
Top 10 Blur Songs
10 Battery In Your Leg (TT) beautiful ballad to close. Love the warpy guitar.
9 Sweet Song (TT) does what it says on the tin🍬- piano is beautiful.
8 Sing (Leisure) the first song on debut that displays their experimental shoe gaze side that really really works for me. Really cool ahahahahaaaaaaah👏 excellent,
7 Tender (13) love is the greatest thing that we have. One of their best openers👍🌹
6 To The End (Parklife) Their first great song imo...arching chorus ace and it's all so delicate for Blur at time.
5 Song 2 (Blur) anthem to college years and surprise to hear them sounding a bit like Nirvana but putting their fun factor DNA into that heaviness 😎👍
4 The Universal (TGE) great song that stuck in my mind. Loved seeing them do this live too . Yup that really really really did happen.🤣
3 Beetlebum (Blur) perfect start to best album. The whiff of the dark side was the missing ingredient on previous work so was well into this.
2 Out of Time (Think Tank) such a groove. Deceptively simple sounds - genius song with one of my fave Damon vocal performances❤️🔥
1 Death Of A Party (Blur) Always adored this track. That grind. That chorus build. Sublime heart to best album. Also contains all the different Damon characters of his career in one song and I hates parties too ❤️🔥☺️🏆
The other 32 ranked
11 Parklife (title track) Oy!😂 the only time cockney rap has ever worked. Funny. Also for Damon really important bit of writing that later paves the way for alot of the stylisms adopted for Gorillaz (due a discography of them guys!)
12 Thought I Was A Spaceman (TMW) the great song on the album that is seriously overlooked. Gorgeous.
13 Country House (The Great Escape) the dig at Oasis aside love the video...the little pop culture references eg Bohemian Rhapsody etc. Cool. Big catchy quirky song.
14 There Are Too Many Of Us (TMW) who do Blur think yet are? Thanks or something?☺️😂 Love the twinkles kicking in👌
15 Country Sad Ballad Man (Blur) that bad radio mic Damon uses all the time for Gorillaz first appearance? Look no further...🎤🎙️
16 You're So Great (Blur) Elliott Smith interlude.
17 Charmless Man (TGE) really nice sweet piss take song. That post blue tone feel is indicator of where Damon goes later with The Good The Bad and The Queen.
18 Girls and Boys (Parklife) excellent song from peak younger blur. Massive hit so catchy.
19 For Tomorrow (MLIR) straight away this song evokes the Blur identity. More trimmed and eclectic whilst still pop, the video also makes a statement....this is a London sound fellas! Lala lalala!!👻💂🇬🇧
20 There's No Other Way (Leisure) the classic hook filled Coxen driven poprock riff good enough to put that Blur trying to do Madchester sound so obviously to bed, soundly.☺️
21 Strange News From Another Star (Blur) really lovely spacey textural piece of excellence.
22 No Distance Left To Run (13) when this cool track starts you just think...why didn't they fill the centre of the album with this sort of lovely lo-fi song instead of the wannabe Swan-lite noodles?🤷♂️
23 Repetition (Leisure) the first song with a bit of guitar grind that sounds like Blur Blur not Madchester Blur👍
24 Caravan (TT) beautiful textural softly almost eastern vibes. Has lovely calming hum.
25 On Your Own (Blur) love this chanty silly sing along classic. Darker music but that humour never fades👍
26 This Is A Low (Parklife) brings together end of album well as the songs start to slightly ebb towards mediocre. Nice song...which is a bit of a template for other later even better twangy ballad anthems they do.
27 Ambulance (TT) this opener does what many of the experimental tracks on 13 lacked. Lovely.
28 Look Inside America (Blur) or Country House 2 - Chirpy and ironic.
29 Go Outside (TMW) great Coxen comeback guitar jabs....
30 Jets (TT) Gorillaz will get sited because Damon's ideas didn't come out of the blue. Base!🎸
31 New World Towers (TMW) love this understated mourning for civilisation,
32 Lonesome Street (TMW) great jivey early Blur style opener and it's cool I get the East Grinstead Train ever week!
33 On The Way To The Club (Think Tank) cool groove with lovely underlying harmonies,
34 Ong Ong (TMW) man hard to leave songs off list as I really like whole record,
35 Mirror Ball (TMW) excellent spacey closer.
36 Pyongyang (TMW) so cool that lift to chorus is lurvly.
37 M.O.R. (Blur) middle of the road this song and album is not...their previous albums had many bits that were MOR though🤔
38 End of A Century (Parklife) it's nothing special 🙂,
39 She's So High (Leisure) just so you know America, leisure is not pronounced leeeeesure🤷♂️😠👻. Cool memorable smooth typical mid 90s post Stone Roses Manchester sound song from the Londoners....from the go.
40 London Loves (Parklife) oh Fripp tastic riffing Mr Coxon🎸also ...London really does love the way people just fall apart in my experience....🤔💂💔....even better, This Is The 'Low' is on same album. Pity there isn't a scary monster too.... Bowie-tastic!👨🎤
41 Badhead (Parklife) no need to grin and bear it ....decent song.
42 Coffee and TV (13) popular song which glides along. Bit too harmless for me to love it as much as others though
Conclusion
Not a great weak full of discovery for me this time but after having heard these albums over 3 decades or so I can say they hold up well. My no.1 would get in my top 500 or so all time for sure....but it's more the songs and the memories with this band...🤟😎
Glad to read almost all the magic whip album on your list. This album is fighting the 4th place along with the great escape on my list of faves albums from Blur 😅
Nice catch Kramz. on Coffee and TV sounding like My Wife.

Best band ever imho!!!
I said it in my comment on the album ranking and I'll say it again here: If you want more Graham singing, DEFINITELY check out his vast solo career. The best entry points would probably be Happiness in Magazines and Love Travels at Illegal Speeds, while fans of gorgeously arranged late 60s / early 70s style folk should give The Spinning Top a listen. His album from last year, Superstate, was among my top 3 albums of the year and is more of an exploration of the disco / dance rock sounds.
Superstate was awesome and really works well with the graphic novel
Graham is probably one of the most underrated musicians ever. I haven't got the time to listen all his albums yet but I definitely LOVE The spinning top. Man, the guy KNOWS how to play and compose acoustic guitar.
Just wanted to pop in and say: Love the channel. The way you all express your opinions make it a fun watch EVEN when I don't like the artist you're covering. I flipped back and forth between Jason and Kramzer for who most reflects my own tastes... (so funny to see you both battle it out often... although I appreciate the quips and the good-natured way it plays out). But even Joe... whose musical taste I'm probably not close to, throws some awesome surprises in, as well.... and even if I totally disagree with him, his explanations are excellent to show me where he's coming from. Cheers and a round of drinks on me! (I do like Blur, so this comment was not specific to this band)
P.S. - XTC!
But did you know that Joe is the "Man of the People"? I haven't heard that too much recently, but Joe tends more towards pop and even "dance" than the other two (e.g. he loves ABBA) which is why I lean towards Joe myself but it's all a matter of "taste(s)"
Yes, I am also patiently awaiting the XTC episodes.
@@GeneBolmarcichEsq Everyone loves Abba! Some just don't admit it.
Back In The early 80's when I was in High School , a fellow student summed up his musical tastes by stating " I like any song where they say Oh Yeah or Allright ! " This subjected him to much derision over the years but I bet he loved Song 2 ! OH YEAH
He probably likes Weezer’s “Say it Ain’t So” then….
So difficult to rank these: Blur are incredible..
1. This is a Low
2. Tender (best live song)
3. The Universal
4. Young and Lovely
5. Sing
6. Park life
7. Badhead

Great show such a cool band
Jason hurt my heart with his take on the albums, but his song picks are top shelf. For more Blurry good content check out extended Graham Coxon interview on Produce Like a Pro channel on RUclips. He goes into great depth about the making of Modern Life is Rubbish album. Graham has a substantial solo catalog if you like his singing and overall musicianship. Here is my list:
1. Beetlebum - the change from the major IV chord to the minor iv in the chorus just gets me every time
2. Country House
3. End of a Century
4. Chemical World
5. Parklife - instant mood lift
6. For Tomorrow
7. Under the Westway - there is a totally different version produced by William Orbit that has song sections not part of the finished single. Not better, but interesting
8. This is a Low
9. My Terracotta Heart
10. Look inside America
Honorable mentions: Tender, I Broadcast, On Your Own, Sunday Sunday, Stereotypes, Clover Over Dover, Entertain Me, Girls and Boys and more than I can mention. I hate Think Tank. I think it is a steaming hot turd of an album. Haven't heard it since the year it came out but I did see them on that tour in Seattle sans Graham in 2003. Glad you guys finally got around to covering this band.
Think Tank isn't that bad. At first this was at the end of my list of Blur albums too. Now I think I prefer it over Leisure (which was in the 7th place). It has amazing tracks as Out of time, Caravan, The way to the club, Sweet song and Battery in your legs (with Graham on guitar)
My favourite band! My list
1. This Is A Low

1. Trimm Trabb
So many great Blur songs it would be impossible to create a top 10 list that didn't include all 4 or 5 star songs. All songs on the lists along with many others mentioned in the comments are all worthy. Surprised nobody mentioned the strong Kinks Ray Davies influence on Blur. Its really evident on many of their songs like Country House, Charmless Man and End Of A Century.
A Top 10 Songs List for this band is really difficult to pin down (in a good way), but here goes.
Unlike ranking albums, I find ranking individual songs much more difficult, so, hope chronological order is ok!
Popscene
For Tomorrow (Visit To Primrose Hill Extended)
Sunday Sunday
Tracy Jacks
Badhead
This Is A Low
Country House
Beetlebum
Coffee And TV
Trimm Trabb
Graham Coxon is a great guitar player. Didn't realise how good until recently
I will attempt to come up with a top 10 soon, but for the meantime I would nominate Coffee and TV as their best video. Most poignant use ever of a milk carton.
Well... As a newness big fan of Blur is hard for me to pick only 10 songs, so I will make a list of 10 singles I prefer the most (among the singles) and a list of non-singles songs I prefer the most (among the rest of the songs of each album). Both list in order of appearance to make it easy 😅:

Blur fans need to give Happiness in Magazines album by G. Coxon a listen, very underrated and follows a similar vain to his You're so Great from the self titled. Sample track Bittersweet Bundle of Misery, brilliant poppy tune from his most pop album.

I share your #1 pick. Great song top to bottom. But then again, I think Leisure is quite good.
@@mrp4242 Cool. I love everything about the song too. I've listened to it a million times and I still enjoy it.
Here's my top ten:
1. The Universal;

4. Chemical World;
5. This Is a Low;
6. Star Shaped;
7. Blue Jeans;
8. Look Inside America;
9. Bang;

I tend to prefer the quiet, slow melodic side of Blur... It took me many years to appreciate them, at the time I preferred Oasis but grew tired of them after 'Be Here Now', even so they were no where near my favourite band of the time, I much preferred bands like Pulp, Cast, Suede, Dodgy & Ash... I never liked the term Britpop and neither do I consider myself a huge fan of the movement... Blur did grow on me, their diversity and willingness to experiment and try different styles puts them way ahead of Oasis (IMHO)....

MW- Go Out, Lonesome street
BoD- the Narcissist
Bsides- Never clever (MUST BE THE LIVE VERSION!!) Get Out of Cities, Bone Bag, 7 Days, Explain

I may have disagreed at lot with Jason on the albums video, but his comments on the songs were right on.
1. Parklife - probably the only mostly spoken word song I really love.
2. Country House
3. No Distance Left to Run
4. There's no Other Way - infectious. Surprised it made no one's list.
5. Popscene - single only, but was on American Modern Life is Rubbish. Intense, unusual for Blur.
6. Beetlbum - Jason nailed this one that tension before resolving into the chorus is amazing.
7. To the End - Beautiful. Glad to see on all 3 lists.
8. Look Inside America -
9. On Your Own
10. For Tomorrow

I love the Clash's "Ghetto Defendant," which is also spoken word.
As much as I don't like Blur I must say that you each managed to pick one of their best songs! That's what makes this channel great...I can put the best of a band's songs on my playlist and skip all the crap ;)
Firstly, I am not acquainted with Think Tank, Magic Whip or the debut album, so my list is basically culled from Modern Life to 13.
Secondly I have to agree that after revisiting these albums, they tend to overrun and they would have been better served if they kept them to 12-14 tracks. You could easily lop off 3 or 4 tracks per album and the focus and listening experience would be much improved. They’re still a great band band though.
Really hard keeping to ten but here goes:
10 Swamp Song (13)
9 Badhead (Parklife)
8 Top Man (Great Escape) - possibly no one else will list this one as it’s quite loathed and seen as a poor mans Tracy Jacks
7 End of a Century (Parklife)
6 Clover of Dover (Parklife)
5 On Your Own (Blur)
4 Tender (13)
3 Coffee and TV (13)
2 The Universal (Great Escape)
1 Caramel (13) can’t believe this one is not getting much love on the channel. A phenomenal song.
I have to give an hon mentions to:
For Tomorrow, Trimm Trabb & There’s no other way
5. I'm just a killer for your love
4. Resigned
3. Yuko & Hiro
2. Under The Westway
1. This Is A Low
As you have two Graham sung songs in the top 3 have you heard his solo album Happiness in Magazines, Kram? I’d highly recommend it. So much great stuff. Freakin’ Out, Hopeless Friend, Bittersweet Bundle of Misery, People of the World, Don’t Be a Stranger, it’s pretty much all great.
Spectacular, Girl Done Gone, Bottom Bunk… I’ll end up listing every song on it soon. I’d put it in my top two Blur members solo project list along with the first The Good, The Bad & The Queen record. Demon Days by Gorillaz in third.
Glad to read someone is fan of Coxon talent. He really deserves more attention

Blur is a mixed bag for me. I did a deep dive several years ago and I probably have an odd choice or two in my top 10:
10. Optigon 1
9. The Universal
8. Tracy Jacks
7. Parklife
6. Song 2
5. Yuko And Hiro
4. Bad Day
3. This Is A Low
2. She's So High
1. Advert
Wow. The fact you choose Optigan 1 over other great tracks amazes me but I respect it. For me that track could have easily fit at the end of any of the previous 12 tracks of 13 and they should have put instead either of these B-sides: french song, all we want, so you or black book.
@@robsdianten1 I wouldn't refer to myself as a "seasoned" Blur listener, so don't give me too much credit. It's just one of the songs that stood out, though. I saw a lot of top 10 lists that had a bunch of similar songs that don't stand out to me. "Beetlebum," for example.
1. You're So Great (Blur, 1997)
2. Coffee & TV (13, 1999)
3. Tender (13, 1999)
4. Shes' So High (Leisure, 1991)
5. London Loves (Parklife, 1994)
6. Chemical World (Modern Life Is Rubbish, 1993)
7. To The End (Parklife, 1994)
8. Beetlebum (Blur, 1997)
9. Charmless Man (The Great Escape, 1995)
10. My Terracota Heart (The Magic Whip, 2015)
Yup, a lot of overlap here - I think almost every song that would be a contender for me was on at least one list. I might throw on “Chemical World”, “Advert” or “Tender” out of the unmentioned songs for a #10 choice (or maybe “No Distance Left To Run” or “This Is A Low”), but other than those, my top 9 in some order is probably “Girls & Boys”, “The Universal”, “Charmless Man”, “Beetlebum”, “Song 2”, “To the End” (Laetitia Sadier is on that one - a Stereolab week would be cool in the future), “For Tomorrow”, “Coffee & TV”, and “Country House”. Almost all of these songs are on the best of comp I got a few months ago from the kind person Jaime who donated her CD’s to me, so I think that one would be my close to ideal at least 4-1/2 star Blur album.
1. Song 2 - Blur (1997)
2. This Is a Low - Parklife (1994)
3. Coffee & TV - 13 (1999)
4. Beetlebum - Blur (1997)
5. The Universal - The Great Escape (1995)
6. Girls & Boys - Parklife (1994)
7. Chemical World - Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993)
8. Stereotypes - The Great Escape (1995)
9. For Tomorrow - Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993)
10. Tender - 13 (1999)

Theme from an imaginary film
Wear me down

Trouble at the message centre
Clover over dover
Best days
Yuko and hiro
Out of time
Look inside america, what may well be my favourite... caramel.

Yes I would say most of my least favorite songs are in your list. - Joe
@@TastesLikeMusic I definitely enjoy Blur in a different way than you do.
Out of time and ambulance are really upper echelon tracks from think tank.
I've always had a problem with Damon's 'Mockney' accent. As someone else said here, it's almost better when he really overdoes it, so he's playing a part and the cartoon Punk numbers suit it best. So with that in mind, my list is almost exclusively the punkier tracks, (it's no surprise that my favourite Supergrass track is "Caught by the fuzz' ....as there's a whole bunch of that track's distant cousins amongst Blur's back catalogue) made the more great by Coxon's psychedelic tinged guitar spiralling. Being a Brit, the same school age as Damon and Noel, their ascent to fame in this country and the class and politics battles that were tied up with that time and the slightly wistful time-travel involved in hearing these tunes, means that i haven't listened to any 'Britpop' in a long time,....since that land a long time ago before Spotify. I backed the other horse back then, and Definately Maybe is still a hell of a record, an irresistible daylight robbery of T Rex licks, of a record..... despite most of what followed. But this little trawl through Blur's past, was an eyeopener. I can't do the ballads, .......there aren;t enough antidepressants in the world to get me through an Albarn ballad....but the oikish punky numbers were a treat....

@@robsdianten1 Hi Diana. Many thanks, I have heard most of their albums but I haven’t listened to any of them enough to appreciate the deeper cuts. I will definitely revisit them soon - if you have posted any recommendations, I will seek those ones out. 👍
@@bryanbyrde8338 hi! Yes, I posted my personal list of singles and non-singles songs. However:
If you like madchester/shoegaze style you should try Leisure
If you like interesting guitar and bass lines with some great ballads accompanied by the harmonica you should try Modern life is rubbish
If you like pop-ish songs with some interesting guitar and bass chords as well and accompanied by trumpets you should try either Parklife or The Great Escape
If you like lo-fi style with many fuzzy guitar lines you should try the self-titled album
If you like experimental rock/trip hop songs that surprises you with some madness and changing sounds you should try 13
If you want more experimental songs this time accompanied by a moroccan orchestra and you like Fatboy slim you should try Think Tank
And, if you want to listen to 4 grown men playing some spacey and meaningful ballads and some pop/rock catchy songs like their Britpop era you should try The Magic Whip
Don't forget to also try their singles that weren't as A side in any album:
Popscene (quite post-punk song, bassist Alex James is on fire here)
Music is my radar (the most dancing Blur song along with Girls and boys imo, it has lots of fuzzy guitar too)
Fool's day (a hidden gem with an AMAZING guitar outro)
Under the Westway (the continue of For tomorrow, a powerful ballad)
The Puritan (the keyboard in this song is very catchy)
As you see... There are Blur for many tastes and all of them with good/excellent examples.
A good way of knowing the band versatility is listening: first Parklife (the song) and then Caramel OR Country House first and then Essex dogs.
I hope my "Blurification" has helped. Cheers! 😊
@@robsdianten1 Thank you so much, Diana, for that detailed analysis of Blur’s albums. I can see you are a dedicated fan of their music. I will definitely look for your non-single selections and listen to them all.
Have you been posting your lists for the Song Of The Year series? I have been taking part each week and I will continue to do so when it resumes from 2009. Blur have only made a few appearances for me but Coffee & TV was my favourite song of 1999. 😃
I will be listening to The Magic Whip again before we get to 2015, in case there are any songs from that album which might make my top 10 of the year. I have found the SOTY series has helped me to discover a lot of great songs I didn’t know, plus a number of artists that are new to me whose music I have enjoyed listening to. There are several regular contributors whose choices I like to listen to, and it’s incredible how much great music can be discovered that way.
Enjoy the rest of your day. Take care and thanks again. 😎
