Brittany I hate that yall are no longer together and so are a lot of other people. From a 66 year old white dude You still have time to get back together .all of You are so talented .
SERIOUSLY, cannot get enough!! I absolutely LOVE her! Her passion and power are just...i get the chills. She is perfection and it pisses me off to see so many people dog her for her looks! Shallow minded morons! I think she's beautiful and Im in awe of her beautiful talent as well.
THESE YOUNGSTERS BRING MORE TO MUSIC THAN MOST REALIZE. THEIR MUSIC CROSSES CULTURES, GENRES & GENERATIONS LIKE FEW CURRENT "POP" BANDS.. THEY'RE FAR MORE THAN POP... HELL, THEY GOT SOUL!!! FINE MUSICIANS THAT BRING LIGHT AND WARMTH & SUBSTANCE TO THE OFTEN PALE AND PATHETIC MUSIC SCENE OF THE MOMENT. WELCOME!!!!
Jerry Sullivan my big hope is to see these folks play before I get too damned old!! Or they burn-out... let's hope both are far into the future!!! :-) ol Jer
Damn, girl....won't you PLEASE get yourself over to Charlotte NC? I'm 73, going on dead and want to see your band in person before I drop off the vine!! You are the best thing (better?) since Janis Joplin.
Marilyn C. Hope you're still around, Marilyn!!! If you are, hope you got your wish to see them play. I like to think they're a bit of Janis, Aretha, Amy Winehouse, Chuck Berry & Allman Brothers all combined! ;)
Don't forget Mussel Shoals swampers. Al Green, Otis Redding. BAND IS TIGHTER THAN A MOFO! Hopefully, Brittany will not forget them as she becomes a superstar. She has a Solo project right now that is awsome as well.
I can see that she's great, but best? That's such a subjective thing. personally, I think Adele is best, but that's my taste. Now put the two of them together.... However these days real talent means little. There are singers in the world that will blow you away, but they are never seen. No matter the amount of talent, it takes that lucky break to make it.
I had the privilege of seeing them live with my brother in 2016. Miss Howard blessed us with a beautiful memory that we will cherish for the rest of our lives! This woman is one of a kind!
I love that this woman plays GUITAR and sings her ass off. Not many people can touch me over the internet on the first view. WOW! Great soul R&B tunes!
"Gimme All Your Love" is nothing short of brilliant-Brittany Howard is IT. And talk about pipes! How many other artists have to stand that far back from the mike? Not once is she up on it...INCREDIBLE!

So glad to hear from my favorite blues/rock band. Thankful they are working on new material. Have played my CD to shreds ! Brittany has such a strong, soulful voice. Reminds me of Janis when I used to hear her in Texas in the 60's. Keep on rockin just as y'all are !!!!!!!
She is beyond R&R. This artist is R&B, soul, blues and oh yes, rock. The real problem is not in local genre stations playing more music. It is more the fact that there are genre stations at all. Yes, I loved Motown, and Soul and Funk as I was growing up as a Black child and teenager in Newark, NJ. However, around age 12, I tuned into a Pop station that introduced me to Elton John, Steely Dan, Meatloaf, Gale Sayers, Billy Joel and so many others who have contributed to the American music scene, in addition to Motown and funk and soul artists. To this day, some of my peers, including my wife, are puzzled by how I can sing or follow instrumentally songs by "White" artists. Simply, I opened my palate to a full flavoring of Pop music. It makes me wonder if the degradation of music, and thus our culture, is not merely coincidental to corporate greed at the labels and media outlets, but the desired, planned effect. And no, I do not think "they" are out to take over our minds and brainwash us all and turn us into robots - or are they? Hmm.... o_O
Leon De Vose, II Your assessment of old soul / young body is spot on. If she remains engaged and active in broadcasting her style of R&B with dashes of other genres, she has the potential to define a new genre. The track You Ain't Alone shows where her roots run deep. IMHO, we need far more natural talent like this and far less marketing driven fluff.
I've been going to Jazzfest since I was a kid. This was one of the most memorable performances out of all those years. I saw it live, saw it on TV, and I watched the whole thing over again here. And I can't wait to see them again.
Jake LaRoche They are at Iroquois Amphitheatre in Louisville in August, the place is as good as it gets for a smaller amphitheatre. They recently renovated and done it right, just seen Jamey Johnson there the other night and noticed that Bama Shakes gonna be there.
Heat Lightning is absolutely brilliant as a last song - what a fantastic way to connect with and pump up a crowd... Brittany is one incredible performer.
A first class performance by superbly talented musicians who are unafraid of playing different genres or thoughtful songs. Fits alongside many concerts from the 1970s, which is a high compliment.
OK I've been listening to this concert and I gotta say if Otis had a daughter this would be her. My gosh and I love Otis. If you can find it (I have it on VHS) watch the Montery Pop Festival 1967.
Love this band, I was watching this Festival on tv at home and man when this band came on, I was like wow. Have not heard music like this in a while, a really exciting band. Brittany is the real deal.
Love seeing Alabama Shakes grow as a band. The ride gets more fun every day. :) One thing though...I freaked for a split second because I thought Jesus replaced Steve on drums!
I have to tell you...shes got it. Her singing gives me goosebumps..The band compliments her very well. Hope to hear a lot of music from this group. They are fresh & they have a great sound...soul.
Awesome equipment! She's got an old Ampeg amp & a vintage Silvertone or Gretsch...I can't tell! & the lead guitar has an Ampeg too! For that vintage 60's Stax style sound! She looks good behind that SG too!
Watched this when it was live on axstv. Never heard of them before then, and couldn't change the channel. Was totally hooked. I think they will be the next big thing in Blues/Rock.

Brittany I hate that yall are no longer together and so are a lot of other people. From a 66 year old white dude You still have time to get back together .all of You are so talented .
Nnnnoooo!!!!
The reason there's no SOUL in most music today is because Alabama Shakes HAS IT ALL!
Mark Marsh there’s plenty of soul in music today, just have the ears to hear their story.
Ya, Mark, that's it! But I'm on the floor laughin' out of pure pleasure!
Wish they'd reunite and do a new tour. They are so amazing.
ME TOO!!!
Brittany kicks ass!! End off!!
Amen!!

They're not a pop band.
I agree Jerry. Put Janis in a jar, add some Otis and shake well!

One of the BEST recordings of Alabama Shakes. Loved seeing them at Jazzfest, wish they'd reunion and come back home.
Love her style. God bless her and the band!
Damn, girl....won't you PLEASE get yourself over to Charlotte NC? I'm 73, going on dead and want to see your band in person before I drop off the vine!! You are the best thing (better?) since Janis Joplin.

She has a Solo project right now that is awsome as well.
That gimme all your love with them guitar solos. THAT SHIT HARD ! !
Best female singer in about 20 years.... in her style...Beautiful...
Come back to us Alabama Shakes! The world needs your strength and soul!
I was here for this, and I swear I cried the whole time. I didn't think it was possible for her to be better live.
omg, years waiting for a good band and real music and now i have it, it makes me believe....
SHE/THEY MAKE MY DAY BETTER EVERY TIME I HEAR THEM ❤ She is FIRE !!!!!
I had the privilege of seeing them live with my brother in 2016. Miss Howard blessed us with a beautiful memory that we will cherish for the rest of our lives! This woman is one of a kind!
I wish Alabama Shakes knew just how much they amazed touched me.
I Ain't the Same live... changed my life. best ever. love you Brittany Howard
Every so often a great one comes. Thus is a great one.
Best young band in America today
This girl is great. Finally something I can listen to!
Gemini I and II is mesmerizing. Brittany Howard is the best female singer I have heard in over 60 years.
Eldri Zahn Just another garage band. lol
Karen Durant I hope you're being ironic. If so, my bad, If not, you'll be eating those words when they go on to huge success.
Karen Durant I've known a LOT of garages and I've never heard a voice like that come out of any of them! ;)
Eldri Zahn I totally agree. She is one powerhouse of a singer, and with such emotion. I love her!
They're new album is #1!!
This band is keeping the spirit of soulful music going and I love it! new fav band!!

Alabama Shakes - Brittany Howard the best concert, just brilliant
I love that this woman plays GUITAR and sings her ass off. Not many people can touch me over the internet on the first view. WOW! Great soul R&B tunes!
She has that Al Green/Tina Turner 70's soul vibe going on. Man, this is one badass band.
Just when I thought old school music couldn't be revived...Alabama Shakes comes along. I'm in love with this singer. I want to be in this band.
That voice can move in so many directions.......
"Gimme All Your Love" is nothing short of brilliant-Brittany Howard is IT. And talk about pipes! How many other artists have to stand that far back from the mike? Not once is she up on it...INCREDIBLE!
I love it when the artist loves what they do!! She's making me feel it too...

Johnathan Lawson INDEED..beauty IS only skin deep after all!! Brittanys light shines bright.... tres cool!!!
Threadgill's? My grandfather knew Kenneth and Mildred...
Those folks played on my stage several years ago and were such nice folks besides being talented...++++
This is what the music industry is missing - a truly original, one-of-a-kind artist! This is an old soul in a young body here.
Leon De Vose, II Obviously. So text your local R&R radio that's stuck in the past......
Karen Durant So tired of Boston, Eagles, freakin" Aerosmith!! c'mon ROCK LIVES!!
She is beyond R&R. This artist is R&B, soul, blues and oh yes, rock.

Hmm.... o_O
It's okay to look back....just don't stare. Plenty of good current rock going on if you pay attention eh?
Leon De Vose, II Your assessment of old soul / young body is spot on. Brittany you look great and your sound moves us up here in Detroit - When are you coming back to see us!!!!!!!
A first class performance by superbly talented musicians who are unafraid of playing different genres or thoughtful songs. Fits alongside many concerts from the 1970s, which is a high compliment.
