I also ordered worms from Uncle Jim’s Worm Farm (1500 Red Compost Mix) and I had a few escapees from the bag and found in the box and on my porch. But all survived and are doing well.
So interesting that both sets went on an explore. It must be the stress of the journey/dehydration because I don't get that when I start a new bin here with my own worms. I totally agree with you about balloons! ~ Sandra
Agreed. It must be an Uncle Jim thing because the other set (so far) that I bought didn’t do that. Creepiest balloon was an “I miss you” type one from I’m assuming a funeral or memorial
Meme's worms are cool. New York worms have attitude but the Pennsylvania ones get along [pacifists]. I haven't tried it yet but there is/are? some dealers that sell cocoons... price weight numbers. Some worm farms do not use sustainable wormie growing practices. Some places regulate the crawlers under livestock laws. You is the Midwestern Wiggler Wrangler. We call them bbs wormlets or squiggles or by their individual names like Sally or Pedro. Keep up the videos broX.
I found someone that sells cocoons. I’m curious on how well they travel but they were sold out of red wigglers so it’ll have to wait till they’re back in stock before I can try that out.
I've put in my first order - 1 lb of nightcrawlers - from Uncle Jim's and was wondering how they'd look and what would need to be done off the bat with them, so thanks for the video! Both the reds and crawlers you got look very active. Just wondering why they all seemed to have a concerted effort in both colonies to try to push the lid off from all directions and escape? 😂
They all seem to explore at all times. It’s quite annoying. Doesn’t matter what size bin or what is in it, they always seem to find their way to the lid. It’s not a problem unless ALL the worms you have are on the surface/lid. Otherwise they’re just curious.
I will say this. I bought my first ever compost worms from Uncle Jim’s. Here is my feedback. I ordered on a Friday and they shipped Monday, and I got them the day before Thanksgiving. I asked that they note “live species” or something like that since USPS delivers to a neighborhood box. So, they sent via Fed EX. Fed ex didn’t arrive until close to 4 although the deliver window was 8a to noon. Grrr Fed ex. I opened them and whooooF that smell hit me! I had hoped it was the blanket. No it was the worms. The mixed compost worms were a ball of dead slimy strings. I didn’t want to allow any more to suffer so I painstakingly went through them all and only 185/1000 survived. I emailed Unc on Thanksgiving day regarding the live worm guarantee and that Monday They shipped out a new lb of red mix. These arrived healthy. They were mostly juveniles and were alive and well! I will report they are doing g fantastic. I am very pleased with the customer service.
People think that the worm have to get use the their environment but it’s not true. After about a couple of day of the bin with moisture, there’s an increase in bacteria for the worms to eat. So they rather stay.
That's Allot Of soil he's giving away to all those customers 😮😮😮😮😂😂
Yeah, I got a bag of soil and not a bag of worms. JK. Most were Juvies! And are doing fantastic.

So far so good. I think UJ does a really good job on shipping and caring for the worms. There’s a reason everyone orders from them.

Quite apart from the environmental impacts, those mylar balloons use helium, which is in short supply for medical imaging right now.

@@OurSustainableJourney I blame the Earthworm Jim video game and cartoon for inspiring wormkind to greater shenanigans! 🪱🪱😆

Agreed. Their guarantee and customer service is great! There’s a reason they’re the most popular out there.
Worms are dehydrated says to soak the worms after shipment that's why they are running everywhere.
i found out that memes worms are certified 100% red wigglers ,or you can order a mix of indian blues and red wigglers, not much price difference
