Hi Angie, Thanks for showing us the worm factory 360!! I was amazed at how big the worms got after a few days rehydrating and how much they love that worm blanket!! Great video!!🪱🪱🪱
You are welcome. Thanks for watching. Check out this video from a few months ago with cleaning and adding layers. ruclips.net/video/psZzEoav9UU/видео.html
I used to dig up and play w worms as a kid, and we had a bucket we kept worms in to do the same as this farm, but you know, a home made country version... lol. This brought back memories, so cute! Love these wiggly garden helpers!
I just started it's been about a month I watched his video from about 10 years ago did what uncle Jim said I made the worm composter he showed a little better it's doing great I also bought the 55 gal urban composter it's doing well I make my own worm chow and add fruit as well great video
Glad it was helpful! Check out this video update and cleaning of the worm factory ruclips.net/video/2Oo8PBTcdlE/видео.html And honestly, it's so full of worms right now and great black dirt, that it's time to add another level! They are still doing really well!
Your welcome!!! I need to do an update. We are two levels up now. I love this system. Super easy. Just don’t feed them more then they can eat. Then food can stink. But it takes time to figure out how they eat depending on how many worms you have. But fun to have them!
Great one Angie! I loved the vid, it kept me hooked throughout the whole vid, my dad loves gardening and uses worms all the time, this vid would really help!
It’s is a nicer looking unit for sure. I have had mine since before they came out with that version. And as it sits in a corner of my mudroom, having a cute one didn’t matter. But they both work!! Thanks for your comment!!
Thanks, Angie! I would think the worms multiply and outgrow the tray they are in. If you setup a new tray for them to migrate into, will you need to set up the next tray with a coco brick like you did the initial tray?
Yes they do outgrow the trays. I have a video I did in the summer as well as this one just a few months back. You can see here how much they multiple. And not much coco is needed as you move them up and give them room for more food. Good question. Thanks for asking and watching ruclips.net/video/psZzEoav9UU/видео.html
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. What do you call the worm tea then? So I have my verbiage correct. This is what I was always told or heard.
Yes it did! And we switched to cardboard and newspaper after they ate it all! And we have had some escape. That stuff is a amazing. I’m trying to get some of the same fabric from an Amish store but so far it was truly the best!
We still use it everyday. It sits in our mudroom. The scraps that don’t go to the chickens go to the worms. If worms multiply too much we toss them in our outdoor compost. I don’t empty the worm castings like I should but we hope to till it into the gardens next spring. The WF is a way of life for us now. I still highly recommend them! Hope that helps!
@@GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie Awesome!! Thanks. I just ordered one, can't wait to set it up. Thank you for showing your process and replying to my question, Much appreciated!!! :) From - Another Angie
I have this set up, but ordered it off Amazon. I have several layers of cardboard on the top of my dirt, but I’m having trouble keeping good moisture. I used the coconut core (guess that’s what it was), the seller didn’t send a brick, just a small, pre-moistened baggie full. Is this the reason I can’t keep my dirt moist enough, not enough moist coconut core? Is the cardboard wicking the moisture out of the dirt? The set up is in my house. Is it possible the heater is drying out the cardboard? The temperature looks to be about 60 degrees. The worms do seem to be happy enough, but I better spray every 3 days and then I assume some moisture is coming from their food.
I haven't used just full cardboard. It may be taking in to much mositure but once that moisture builds then it could be ok. I like to use either the blanket that was shown in this video or newspaper or brown paper bags. You will want to mist them with a water bottle at the beginning until the food adds moisture. We do a lot with food in the food processor to break it down for them and that adds a lot of watery substance to the trays. as the time goes on and they create their castings, that with the food, will help with moisture. But it's okay if they are dry at the start as this tends to happen until the breakdown of the food happens. You may want to watch this video from the summer ruclips.net/video/2Oo8PBTcdlE/видео.html AND.... I just recorded a new one this last week of an update and adding more room for them. It should be published this week. So make sure you subscribe and hit the notification bell and you will then be notified when that video goes up. I recorded it inside and show how they are doing. Im sure your doing fine :) Just spray them and feed them. That's all there is to it :) Hope this helps.
Will I have an enormous amount of worms after a period of time? What Will I do with them at that point? I just purchased my worms today, and i want to start out small.
They will continue to reproduce. I can’t possibly count the amount. Some die off some reproduce. If you feel you have too many then let them go in the wild. Good thing is they are just worms. I keep mine pretty packed that they can eat a ton of left over food in a day or two. I don’t count my worms :). Good luck!
Sorry missed your comment. No not at all as long as you don’t over feed them and they can keep up. If they can’t keep up then yes the food will sit and rot so you have to be aware of how much you feed them is all.

Glad you enjoyed it. I just did a follow up video a short while ago. ruclips.net/video/2Oo8PBTcdlE/видео.html Still love composting!
Hey Angie, that is not worm tea the runoff is worm leachate going out the bottom spigot.
Thank you for bringing that to my attention. What do you call the worm tea then? So I have my verbiage correct. This is what I was always told or heard.
Hi. Did the worm blanked work 100% in preventing the worms to wonder out of the bin at all? Thanks.
