Savatage is incredibly underrated... Edge of Thorns, Handful of Rain, Gutter Ballet, Tonight He Grins Again, Chance, Hounds, Morphine Child... I could go on and on recommending songs, each a hidden gem full to the brim with amazing guitar work, thoughtful lyrics and clever composition. Just pick any of these, you won't be disappointed.
For me, Savatage is the most underrated band of all time and is my favorite band, I really love Savatage. Please listen and react to Morphine Child. This song is a masterpiece. Thanks.
90’s I was a teen I’d listen to thrash, punk, death metal, grindcore, Good times I saw savatage open for testament in La Jolla, Ca. Bad Ass show. Check out Of Rage and War Gutter Ballet When the Crowds are gone
Welcome back to the Sava-Family \m/ Other great tracks: - When the Crowds are gone - Chance - Tonight He grins again - Ghost in the Ruins - He carves his Stone - I am - Wake of Magellan - Paragan's of Innocence Morphine Child From Trans-Sberian Orchestra I can recommend the whole album Beethoven's Last Night. It's a concept album, kind of a little musical. Listen to the song Mephistopheles. Or Trans-Siberian Orchestra - O Fortuna (Carmina Burana). Simply awesome.
This is a rabbit hole that will take some time to go down. So many incredible songs from this band. "When the Crowds are Gone", "Believe", "This Isn't What We Meant". Just incredible albums and musicianship. And if TSO (Tran Suberian Orchestra) comes to your area, a definte show not to miss.
Savatage is a huge favorite of mine. Morphine Child is a bad ass song. If you like Savatage, you gotta check out Doctor Butcher, Chris Caffery, Jon Olivas Pain, as well as Jons solo album called Raise the Curtain. So much great music from all the Savatage guys.
Upvoted, subscribed. Savatage is one of my favorite bands and I’m so glad that we can vibe together on your channel. Btw, if you want another manly ass ballad, listen to Savatage - “When the crowds are gone”.
T, do yourself a HUGE FAVOR and go down that Savatage rabbit hole. Between John Oliva's screeching vocals and Criss Oliva's masterful guitar work, they're a metal band like no other. I would suggest other ballads from the same album (Gutter Ballet) like "Hounds", "When the Crowds are Gone", and the title track "Gutter Ballet".
Man how I miss Criss Oliva....this band has always been on the top of my lists...and Criss is one of the best players I have ever really truly listened to everything he plays...just listen to the playing in this song...OMG its awesome...
Damn, I forgot about this song! Brings me back to my late teens. I played in a band back then & our practice place, (the guitar players moms house) was a couple houses away from Steve Wacholz, AKA Dr. Killdrums for his huge drumsticks that looked like broom sticks & he slammed on those drums! Anyway, I got to know Steve & hung out with him a few times & when they got to open for Iron Maiden my girlfriend & I got to see the show from a sweet spot that was about 10ft away & right in front of Steve Harris, my idol at the time, & at one point he was looking right in my eyes & singing with me, then he pointed at me & gave me a thumbs up. It was one of my favorite concerts & a great memory. I also remember when Chris Oliva died on the way to a concert that I was going to go see. It was in Florida where the band was from, so the band was kind of a 'local boys go big' thing back then & when Chris died ot was all over the radio & news. A sad day for the fans & especially the band & Chris' brother Jon who was the singer. They never really recovered from that tragedy. If you're interested in another great song from them, check out "Gutter Ballet," it's another ballad, but a bit harder... Great vid as always, catch ya next one...btw T, I got a song request you're gonna love, but I'll get to that later...🤘😁
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO GIVE A LISTEN TO SAVATAGE! THE GUYS ARE SO TALENTED AND GIFTED! I HOPE YOU DELVE DEEPER INTO THE SAVATAGE MOUNTAIN THE CREATED! GOD BLESS BUDDY! Not many Savatage reaction videos around here.
Savatage was under appreciated and underrated. I can only attribute that to them not fitting into the “pretty boy” band category that was prevalent at the time. Without offending any females fans, Savatage was a dudes band.
Later in their career they added a different singer (even though Jon kept singing on some tracks) that is well worth checking out. Some good showcases for their newer vocalist (Zak Stevens) are "Alone you Breathe" "The Hourglass" "The Wake of Magellan" "Edge of Thorns" "One Child" or "Not What You See"
This band is carved in my soul man. The adolescence years, 90s, loves, friends, beers and cigarettes, school, basketball and football...i wish i could relive these years to eternity
Damn, one of my favorite bands, try some older Savatage, like 'Dungeons are calling' from their EP of the same name. It was considered pretty heavy for it's time.
There is Eddie and Alex, Dime and Vinny, Angus and Malcolm, Ann and Nancy but you never hear anyone talk about Jon and Chris except for true old school metal heads. I am not saying you are not metal if you don't know them. I am just saying I was lucky enough to grow up when they released their music.... Sirens (Off the first album, this is my favorite), Rage, Scream Murder, Warriors, Strange Wings, Beyond the Doors of the Dark, Of Rage and War, The Unholy and Jesus Saves.
One of the most under-rated metal bands ever. One of the most under-rated metal singers ever and his brother, one of the most under-rated metal guitarists ever. R.I.P. Chris. Most of the records Savatage did after this record and until the formation of T.S.O. were concept records. It might be worth checking out the records as a whole rather than the songs one by one.
Best songs off Gutter Ballet is this song, when the crowds are gone, the hounds, and the title track. Check out the streets album and the songs, believe, ghost in the ruins, tonight he grins again. From the Hall of the mountain king album, check out title track, legions, 24 hrs ago, strange wings. Jon and Criss Oliva (singer and lead guitarist) were an incredible brother duo before the tragic death of Criss in the early 90’s. So lucky to have been gifted their collaborations.
Amazing as usual :) I'd really love you check you on Chance, or Castles Burning, The Wake of Magellan, Follow Me.. and probably many many others from Savatage
This was one of the albums I waited for to come out. When it first came out I might have been 17 or turned 17 shortly after it came out and initially I was so disappointed however by the 3rd listen I was hooked and still to this day feel it’s the best album they did. Something special about music you have to learn before you truly understand how incredible it is. I also got to see them on that tour in a small club Mississippi nights in St. Louis mo. Still have the tee shirt. Haha
Apparently, this song is part of a "trilogy" on the Gutter Ballet album - it falls in between Mentally Yours and Thorazine Shuffle. I can see a definite connection between those two songs, but I cannot fathom how (or why) Summer's Rain gets sandwiched in between them? There's not a single lyric I can find that even hints at referencing either of the other 2 songs. Anyway, that's just a fun fact.
This is my favorite metal ballad of all times. Jon Oliva is still the best metal singer! And the guitars!!! So great. Criss Oliva was the greatest! R. I. P. Criss! Please also try the acoustic version of this song, it is sooo emotional
There are so many incredible songs by this band. Any of these would do -- I Seek Power, All That I Bleed, Doesn't Matter Anyway, Starlight, Of Rage and War, 24 Hours Ago, Streets, Ghost in the Ruins, When the Crowds Are Gone.
I suggest listening to this guitar solo over and over and over, until you realize its the best solo ever recorded--because you will eventually reach that conclusion. This is also the solo Criss was most proud of, according to his band mates.
I've started and ruled the Italian official fan club for ten years. Savatage is one of the best bands ever existed, Jon Oliva's voice is so evocative. I hope you will check them out a little more.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT I've had the chance to attend many of their lives here in Europe, got to meet them many times. After all these years I still can't call another band "favourite"... They're excellent musicians and have a very unique sound.
