HA! You bought the Ed Kranepool. I love it! I still love that idea that you follow along with your binder. Knowing my personality, I would have wanted to buy that card NOW if I realized I didn't have it. Some nice 1940 Play Ball card. Love the Van Lingo Mungo!!! His 1939 card is my favorite. Thanks for sharing, Rick. Have a great weekend!
Hi Rick, you continue to make nice progress on the 40 PlayBall. Van Lingle Mungo seems out of place amongst names like Walter, Stan, Harold and the other popular names of the period. Rick was telling me about your missing Kranepool card. I am glad you got one to officially complete the set. No pickups gives you more time to enjoy all the great cards you already have in your collection. You have plenty of them. Take care
4 HOFers and 2 commons! My plan is to gather some more HOFers over the remainder of my collecting career or until I get the ones I need. There are about 160 pre-war HOFers and I have about 6 or 7, so you can see I have a lot of work to do! (lol)!!!
Rick Loving everything about this video. Hmm where to start? Ed Kranepool is the only vintage player I collect as a player; 40 Playball is an awesome set and your pickups are amazing. I am with you on collecting that one. Oh, and the T-206 card is sweet. Finally, Van Lingle Mungo is one of the few players in baseball to have a song written about him. Interesting player and an early example of potential never realized or potential blunted by an attitude befitting a boxer rather than a baseball pitcher. I think it was Casey Stengel who said: "I just tell him I won't stand for no nonsense, and then I duck." An that is the stuff that legends are made of. Have a great trip.
@@DogAteMyCard I had to smile when I saw your post! I’m thrilled you enjoyed the cards and the video! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! I remember when I first heard Mungo Jerry! That’s so awesome!
Hey Rick. I'm a big Ed Kranepool fan. It was so great that he, as one of the original N.Y. Mets, was a part of the 1969 championship team. This reminds me that I have to get his recent book. Nice T206. We both like the '39 Play Ball cards, but I'm not crazy about the '40 set in general. It's not that I dislike it. I've got a couple of them, and some cards stand out for me more than the others, but the design at the bottom doesn't really grab me. I like that Van Lingle Mungo though! I have both Henrich and Keller, which I like too.
I’m a big Tommy Nenrich fan!! I have quite a few of his cards including the 1950 Drake’s Cookies! I actually like the 1940 Play Ball set better than the 41 set! Weird, huh?! Anyway, thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! PS Van Lingle Mungo is one of the all-time great names!
Congrats on the great pick ups Rick, hope you have a great weekend!

Great cards Rick! I really do enjoy the 1940 play ball set. I like the Mickey Cochran from that set.
@@EverydayCardCollector-Jason The Cochran card is really sweet. Was lucky enough to pick one up recently and it's a beauty.
Great cards Rick.
