I was just telling my husband yesterday about how Carolyn shared you can freeze dry raw milk and it tastes almost as good as fresh and my husband thought I was hinting at wanting a freeze dryer 😂 so this podcast is hilariously timely.

Thank you both for this cast. Carolyn, Amazon finally let me know that your book should arrive on Nov. 29. So Birthday gift is now a Christmas gift for my best friend. Thank you for putting your passion into to sharing the experience you have gained. God bless both of you and your families.

My plan is to make those lunches, too. My boys have requested noodle cups.
    Just ordered Carolyn’s book!

The sewing course is exactly what I need. My mother in law passed away and her daughters collectively decided that I was the best candidate to inherit all the contents of her sewing room. I homestead and diy so I understand and appreciate the gifts but sewing isn’t a skill I have taken on before. I want to put her expensive and vast supplies to good use but I don’t know where to even start.

I don't think I've ever eaten anything freeze dried at all. It was interesting to learn a lot in this.

I love you, guys, so much! I decided not to watch only because there are still no freeze driers here in Russia. As far as I know. Wish you all the best!

Freeze dryers are pretty expensive. I'm sure for homesteaders, they are worth every penny in grocery savings. What about those of us who don't homestead. I live on 20 acres, have a full time position with an outside employer but we have chickens, apple trees and sometimes harvest oyster mushrooms from our property. I'd like to start preserving fresh produce - even if I have to purchase it from the farmers market. Are the inexpensive models any good? Does anyone have experience with them?

I started with a good dehydrator. Once I was using that a lot (it took several years) I felt good about investing in a freeze dryer. They produce different products, but dehydrating was my stepping stone to freeze drying.
I’ve only had it a month. But it will be invaluable to us here. We do grow a lot of our own food. And preserving it long term is a goal.

@@preppingmama We have had a dehydrator for years, but haven't used it as much as we could. Thank you for your thoughtful response :)

Is it necessary to vacuum seal the Mylar bags? I’ve not been successful in doing this.

Freeze dried lattes! Mind blown. My husband and I have been travelling the US for a week and a half, with 6 more days to go. I miss good coffee with Jersey cream so much 😢. I can’t handle regular dairy either, so I’ve been using almond milk. I can’t wait to get home! Unfortunately, my source of raw milk said they will no longer have milk for me.
