The debut music video from Maps & Atlases for "Solid Ground" of their first full-length release Perch Patchwork (Barsuk Records). Directed by Taryn Gould and Emily Kowalczyk.
I don't know if anyone will see this, but my father raised me and my 2 brothers by himself. I heard this song when it came out at 10 years old. Im now 23. It stops me in my tracks everytime it pops up on my Spotify. Now, I'm a female bodybuilder, and everytime I hear that first lyric about the barbell wrapped up in a shirt, I get chills.
Got this song stuck in my head today & had to come watch the video. I miss when everyone looked like this. We didn't realize how good we had it back then.
It drives me nuts that half the great music I discover is months old. I think to myself that I could've been listening to this awesome song for so much longer.
It's taken me the best part of 3 months to re-find this video. I have no idea how many hours have been whittled away in order to find this again but everyone of them is worth it now!
I was listening to this on my itunes, and the song froze...so now I'm here. I'm sad that so many people are talking about "Hipster" this and that. Jeeze, can't we just all appreciate an awesome piece of music. I'm happy to say that I love bands like this, but I also like alot of the "mainstream" bands too. It's all just music, and if you don't like it, don't comment. You're only wasting your own time. Now go listen to whatever floats your boat :D
sweet melancholy madness....great song, thank you and thank fm4 for putting them into their charts so i can lissten to them on the radio....!!! this is the music that is supposed to be played on air!
True. True. I do like the clothes. Maybe not the glasses. but the most important part is being able to love good music and sit back and know that in your school, while all the others are sitting around rapping, you are gently laying back and singing along to sweet melodies.
This is the first time I've heard a Maps & Atlases song........and already my mind has been freaking BLOWN!!! I am now officially a fan. Well done Maps & Atlases, well done.
I kind of wish these guys were famous, just so they could get some recognition, but at the same time I want them to stay small, so they don't become mainstream.
hipster, not hipster.. hate, unaccceptance.. let everyone be exactly who they want to be. Because if everyone were the same, the world would be colorless... No more hate, just love. Love and beautiful music. Jah bless
Just saw these guys for the first time in Fort Collins. Awesome show all around, but these guys were my favorite band there (my fiance was there for Circa).
@LittleSusumii It was before the show. He was just walking on the sidewalk jamming his ipod. He even started singing as he walked away. So happy to meet my hero :]
I'd be damned if i went through life without going to one of their live shows. The first time i heard them was on T.V, they were playing 'Witch' and it was amazing.
I can't help but feel that there are some Jim Jarmusch/"Dead Man" references here, particularly with the spirit canoe and the way some of the shots at the beginning are framed and focused. Great movie if you've never seen it. Really nice pseudo-debut for them though.
What is reality? How should reality be? What defines a reality?" And before you can even start that journey, you truly have to reflect upon all of those things that's happened in your own life, your own experiences and I mean critically....
Dear sir...from reading all of your comments, I am entirely inclined to say that you are absolutely wonderful. Your defense upon the entire ideal of hipsters and analyzing the defeats of them within themselves is brilliant. You have truly stolen the very words from my mind. :)
Me and my friend both found this band completely on our own at the same exact time and shared it with each other at the same time without knowing the other had also shared it. Destiny? I think yes.
@PrestonDowMusic yes! Like King Crimson, Don Caballero, OXES and a few others I can't remember right now. More bands are finally starting to come around, hopefully math-pop bands like Foals can bring it to the masses
Great sound and a singular voice! I love it !If you like singular voices and find underground artist, I suggest you to discover a new one by writing *"Niko Laetailleurs"* in the you tube search bar. One of my favorite...
This is an amazing twist into today's music, being innovative and forming a certain genre is the most genius thing one can do. Creating outside of the box is a nearly impossible thing to do if you function inside it, and degrading music on being hipster or not is the most "in the box" functioning someone can achieve. Use your own mind and feelings regardless of past experience and impressions and good music shall find its way up to the top, unlike the situation in this moment regarding pop music
10 years old... erm what? This is an amazing song.
13 years now. Wtfffff
18 years now... wtf
the singer's voice is friggin amazing
Perch pathwork is one of the best albums of 2010 for me
I have had this song in my head for years and I just remembered the name of the band and I couldn't be happier.
Awesome band, and one of the best live acts you will ever see. Totally normal down to earth guys too

Back when everything was much simpler and everyone was so optimistic for the future that never came.
This comment really hitting different in 2020. 😂 Oh man it's just gonna keep getting worse, huh?
@@bowietwombly5951 "hey buddy, I know things seem really bad right now, but just hang in there, okay?
It's about to get a lot worse."

It drives me nuts that half the great music I discover is months old. I think to myself that I could've been listening to this awesome song for so much longer.

I like this song a lot. The drums are crazy, crazy good.

The only band on my iPod I could happily listen to all day without having the urge to change song
I'd be damned if i went through life without going to one of their live shows. The first time i heard them was on T.V, they were playing 'Witch' and it was amazing.

Met them and played basketball with chris and dave. Amazing music, amazing people.
Maps and Atlases is absolutely fantastic.
