Yeah I think Mackie was decent overall, some really good moments and some pretty bad ones. Problem is Kinnaman just embodied the role as if he was born for it. I feel like the plots major focus on the melodrama with Falconer honestly did more damage than Mackies performance.
To be frank, once you read the books, you just can't say ''Kinnaman should've stayed'' Because Takeshi literally despised being in Ryker's sleeve. He found the neurochem barely sufficient, Ryker had a smoking habit that disgusted him, and he really did not feel himself okay with being in the body of a caucasian. Kinnaman did a great job, but Kovacs was not keen on keeping Ryker's face even in the show
Kinnaman is brilliant, unfortunate Mackie wasn't up for the task, at least I didn't like his performance...felt wooden
Classic case of the first to do it being so good that those after can't compare. Season 1 was pure gold.
Totally agree, i found him too pissed off all the time and not as fluid in acting as kinnaman

The Actress that played Takeshi, in the bar scene...they should of just let her run with the Role.
Why did they replace him?
Because this is Sci-Fi.
She knows Billy Joel? Not cause of you
