I don't think any of these cars are under 20k in Canada. Super jealous of the American used car market
Yep unfortunately
If Biden lives to finish his term as president, I’m sure American markets will be as ruined as ours (thanks Trudeau).
Currency difference sadly. I've seen a couple 100k km 2015 WRXs for $21k at dealerships in my city.
but Canada has BNR32's, R33's, R34's, Celica GT-Fours, Evo Lancer 5,6, no 25 year rule.

Nobody's buying new manual Hondas.
Me, with my manual Honda Fit. (I basically got it because I wanted a Miata but also a minivan)
Hey, Fit got discontinued recently, so you've got a future teenagers godsend on your hands.
I think GTI’s are a great fun car that have minivan vibes (coming from a gti owner)
I bought my 2020 Civic Sport Sedan 6 months ago new with the 2.0 naturally aspirated port injected motor with manual transmission 🙂
Daily driver duties (already have a fast weekend car)
I wanted a manual one ever since I got mine just cause how utilitarian it is.
I’m renting an accord and it’s awesome.
Not a fit though.

If you take care of a Subaru they'll go forever. There are multiple people that come to local car meets with 200k+ on stock ej motors. If you mod a car with a bad tune and beat the hell out of it then it's probably not going to last too long.
Doug's standards for reliability are shockingly low. He's a guy who owns lots of cars and is willing to drop a lot of money maintaining them.
@@ZLRACING123 200k+ doesn’t need to be an accomplishment though, you have to seriously baby these cars to get there. Even then sometimes they’ll just decide to have major problems at the drop of a hat and before you know it you’ve put a new motor in three times.

There’s nothing wrong with a Corvette. It’s the owners who think their old ragged Corvette demands top dollar 💵
This is 100% TRUE!
I use to sell new/used cars for a living....and about every single time a used Corvette would pull up, me and the other salesman would scatter! It was due to the owners attitude, they almost ALWAYS wanted TOP$$$ for their trade-in! And when we would go over the car and show them this or that, they ALMOST CERTAINLY would get butt hurt and just leave. Saying that they could sell it for this and that themselves.....So I would say, "If you could, you would have before you came up here to me!" LOL👍👍👍👍

Up until the pandemic(and now I can't find any cars hardly), later C4, C5s were pretty snatchable from $5-13k depending on mileage and performance spec, and C6's not much more than that. They're generally reliable fun cars with low annual maintenance costs, they are kind of an anomaly because depreciation stopped, but they won't become valuable for a long time either so long as there's still a lot of them on the road. The only bad marks against them is the stigma about the type of guys who drive them and the lack of prestige that comes from being a domestic and not an exotic import.

If you're buying a 100 series Land Cruiser, try finding a 2003+ model. Those ones had the five speed auto instead of the four speed that was initially used in the 1998-2002 models. Alternatively, just get the Lexus GX470. Those came with the five speed from the first model year (2003). You'll lose the space that the land cruiser has, but you don't lose much more.

I truly think the NC2 MX5 is the best buy. Such a great daily in GT trim, and still huge aftermarket support. The trans is so so good, the one-hand top deployment is lovely, heated seats. The most fun car I've ever owned was my 2011 in GT trim. Top down always unless it was pouring rain. Comfortable for road trips. AutoX in the summer. Just a brilliant car. No issues whatsoever until I started dicking around with tuning. Great MPG, 25+ usually.
I hate that I had to sell mine last year. My GX now is great, but that NC2 is a car I'll remember forever.
There is no way you're going to find a clean example of these cars for 20k.

“Even if they aren’t related. They are FAMILY”. - Dominic Toretto probably.
There are two types of things:
Those ones that are de-facto
And those ones that are de-muro
Just a note on C6 Corvettes since I hopped on that train a year ago and got one (which I love dearly)… if you get a 2008+ instead of a ‘05-‘07 you get a 30 horsepower bump and the LS3, which is an insanely great platform to start modifying on especially for drag racing or autocross. Also if you can find a Z51 package even better, since you get a few handling goodies with that.
Umm the S2000 isn’t even CLOSE to 20k?! Dougs own website shows how much more they’re going for at this very second.

@@MrManBuzz I see a few of these in my area.
@@MrManBuzz yup, and it's a bummer bc most Euro spec hatchbacks are way better than the CUVs created for our domestic market ( N America ) in performance, handling, and cargo capacity, yet for some reason our buyers equate ride height to safety which is ridiculous. My GT Sport is a Euro market hatchback called the i30 over there, the size, build quality, and features are like what we get on full size SUVs here, along with its performance. I've spoken to plenty of people from UK, Germany, and AU that say it's the perfect family hauler over there which it is here too. Unfortunately it was only offered here in the trim I have for one year, followed by the N-Line ( imo not as good as a daily ) for 2 model years, so 18-20. Now we have the Kona taking its place here and it's far less superior as an over all daily driver and performance. They are eventually offering the N here, but still I'm not interested. Less features and a higher center of gravity. SUVs were not meant to be track attackers.

I absolutely love my M235i. With some minor mods this car is a beast for what you pay, although still a great car when stock. They’re above $20k but you can find them for under $30k. I bought mine (2016 50k miles) in 2019 and the sticker was a little over $28k. After tax, fees, and a $13k trade in I ended up paying about $17k. The car has been a dream to drive and has given me no problems (other than a couple of flats but that can happen to any car). I have basic bolt ons, stock turbo, and make 400 hp at the wheels (322 stock). If you have the extra budget, you can’t go wrong with this car.

Honestly, the interior wasn't that bad, I liked the seats a lot. The heated seats were the best I've ever used. Like opening a portal to hell under you butt. They were amazing.
The radio was a pain though, all the computer info was integrated there so to replace it you lost a lot. However, I spent like $80 and was able to install an AUX input and could connect my phone and that fixed a lot of the "issues".
Now I drive a 16 Chevy SS sedan (manual) - so basically the same formula as the V, just with a 6.2 LS3 and TR6060 instead of the CTS-V's 6.0 LS2 and T-56. I really like the SS, but I miss how "analogue" the V was compared to the SS. In certain situations I had to baby the V so it wouldn't try to kill me, but the SS just takes it and is like "are you even trying?" - The added tech takes some of the fun out of it.
@Yippee Skippy Ha!
How is it not?
C6 Corvette "old Doug" was 100% Jay Leno! There's an uncanny resemblance already, but add the white hair and eyebrows and they're fricken identical.
This was awesome!!! Thanks Doug!
I'd add the 2011-2014 Acura TSX Sport wagon too. Underrated car imo and pretty rare
He gets more excited every time he says cars and bids.
I’m waiting for him to have a stroke from saying it

Great list, but there will always be what about this, and what about that. Was very surprised Nissan 350/370Z or Audi TT MK1/MK2 didn’t make the list… maybe saving the Audi MK1 for the under 10,000 list.
Ngl the audi mk1 looks retarded and isn't a good car. Oil issues, timing belt, audi just wasn't making good cars at that time
Well it's his opinion too you gotta remember. Not everyone thinks the 350 is all that great although I do think the 370z is a pretty solid car although it's handling isn't all that great
@@kcrossover4267 Its lowkey not even a opinion tho lol its just a trash car
@@bibbotyty4209 wrong, I’ve had one for 12 years. The 1.8T has been known to easily go 200,000 with minimum care

Doug is a beast! especially love this guy after giving a shout out to my Porsche Boxster
Much appreciated for the intel
Doug can you do under $5000 I'm looking at 99' Lincoln town cars
Good choice, reliable and has overlooked turning potential
Hoovie, is that you?
i just replaced my 03 grand marquis that had 183,000 miles on it, still drove perfect i just wanted something with 4WD for the winter. i bought it for $3600 with 80,000 miles and drove it for 7 years.. i can’t recommend a panther platform enough. Very easy to work on yourself and reliable as all hell. i’d jump on it if you live somewhere without snow.
Sup Doug, happy Sunday
Another fantastic video! Thanks Doug!
Im so glad you mentioned my car, the Focus ST! I absolutely LOVE my car, and I'm sad we don't get them in North America anymore.
Why is Ford between Subaru and Toyota alphabetically? 😁
He should have just said the list was in no specific order.
He said it’s an honourable mention
Because it's ST which is the relevant bit
@@dommarston23 s comes before w
@@PranavRakkappan he said the Fiesta was the honorable mention. The focus was part of the list
The Focus and Fiesta still sell in Europe🇪🇺💪
The boxster is a great car to drive. I had a salvage title for a few days before I realized I couldn’t title it and I can’t get it out of my head
I know a lot of people will hate me for saying this, but you can get a 2017 Ford Focus Electric for around $15,000 here in Canada (less in the states), and it’s by far the funnest car I’ve ever driven. Great handling and all, but its key feature is its instant throttle response. Holy cow. When I drive my mom’s Ford Fusion (far from a performance car, I know), when I put the throttle down it feels like waiting for a steam engine to heat up by comparison. That confidence when you put your foot down is just insane, and although I know people will have differing opinions on this, the lack of a loud engine, for me at least, makes acceleration feel more thrilling.
I like watching these videos even tho im not old enough to drive 😭
xd
me too
same
Move to texas at 14 u can get a learning permit
Same. Although I am way too practical and too much of a cheap ass to actually buy any of these vehicles he talks about haha
