Pretty cool with a color screen. Looks like a battery eater though, you started with 7.4V and ended with 6.8V. Glad to hear Mom is doing OK after surgery, she'll be good as new before Christmas!
Looks good for the price. Sorry about your mom. Went through in and out of facilities with my mom for about a year before we lost her. She'd been on dialysis. Hope she recovers quick.
The part marked 431 is of course not a transistor, but a precision voltage reference. The capacitors you're asking about... they look suspicious in the sense that they aren't connected to anything? I mean they go right up to an FPC connector that is left unpopulated. Unless there's some via that i'm not seeing, in which case they'll probably be buffering the TFT panel's high-frequency power bursts.
Pretty nice, dude! 😃 I'm thinking about getting a similar one I saw on Banggood, but it's a kit. So... I guess it would make a nice video for my channel, putting it together. 😊 One question: do you think it would measure those small transformers like the ones on ATX power supplies?
Cool toy. Maybe you can try and update your older B&W version with new firmware? Current black-and-white versions also have ESR, at least mine does, and well enough "for government job" = know when replace capacitor. I replaced battery with AC-AC adapter from thrift shop & small DIY 9v regulated power supply based on RSD academy lessons. Power supply sit in a box, and it's just right size to attach tester itself on the top. I'm just too tired of batteries :)
Hi Paul. Great video, thanks.....i have the exact same two testers also! Love them both, but it is true that a colorful one is nice! However, i am curious about your comment that your yellow one doesn't do ESR.....mine does! Are you sure yours doesn't?
Thanks Paul. I don't believe in going cheapest all the time. That tester seemed to be pulling that battery down quick. The batteries in my Peak Atlas analyzers go long-time. lol
Total noob building some guitar pedals. Got one of these to match JFets to .80 mA. How will this info help me? There must be a conversion to use this info with? Having a tough time figuring this part out Thank you for the video
@@learnelectronics curious s to why the mA would be unimportant. I've read a few times that getting them very close in Ma value improves the sound of these types of circuits. Sorry for the lack of knowledge
I'm not a religious man but all my best wishes are with your mom and I hope she has a speedy recovery!
Glad to here your mom is getting better.
Nice tester you have there with all them pretty colors.
It is nice, but Amazon doubled the price after cyber week. I would not pay $30 for it.

Great video. You have a great voice and humor. :)

They are decoupling caps

Probably not measure transformers
Nice and small i think i buy one, hope your mom get better soon so she can be home for chrismas.
Thank you

Yep, mine has ESR too. Interesting.

On a TIP122 darlington, why am I only getting hfe= 39 instead of 2500?
This may go on my Xmas list! I want to guess those caps have something to do with the timing/crystal oscillator. Glad to hear your mom is recovering
They are decoupling caps
@@learnelectronics that would have been my second guess!

The cheap $7 monochrome graphic version is quite frugal on batteries in use. Must be just the fancy display.
Hope your Mum's home for Christmas Paul.
Thanks, me too!

Thank you for the video
Just match the beta (amplification factor). It's called hFe on the tester.
@@learnelectronics how does that tell me the mA? Thanks
It doesnt. match them via the beta
Thank you

I have one of these, I just wish they would have added a barrel jack for external power . Lord knows I have enough wall worts, LOL
Make one, mod the device
Best wishes to your mum
Thanks! I appreciate it!
Why are those trains so damn noisy?
Does it cross a road with no barriers, or are idiots playing on the tracks?
They blow their whistles from one end of town to the other 24 hours a day. And yes their are barriers.
@@learnelectronics So, they are just assholes, or is there a good reason?
No, reason, just assholes for sure.
Same unit on eBay $15 shipped via the slow boat...
esr meter drok vs tc1?
You will get more use from the TC1
@@learnelectronics which one is better and more accurate and which one has more options?
Only because its prettier lol
