A layer of cardstock with the vinyl will be needed. The cardstock is what gives the support. Two layers of cardstock or Cricut Kraft board would be best for support. However, I have created a few purse gift bags with one layer of cardstock and one layer of vinyl, they have held up so far. You can choose what will be the best for you. :)
Quick question before I have to run out to the store. How many pieces of glitter cardstock did you need to use? I only have 2 12×12 pieces on hand lol I am hoping that's enough
I would say approximately 5 sheets of 12×12 cardstock (for the main purse) and 2 partial mats of material for the tags and zipper embellishments (with cardstock and/or adhesive vinyl).
I created the tag from the Shapes Tab in cricut design space using a rectangle and circle, sliced, sized, then welded together. I believe I used the font "Happy" for the Coach letters and changed from writing to a deboss setting and attached to the tag. :) I created a project link: design.cricut.com/landing/project-detail/6256c188e3543b6a6b5128e4
Hi there. I used the fine point blade, it's the most used blade for cardstock, iron-on, adhesive vinyl and a lot more. :) The other tool I used was the scoring tool, which basically creates a crease to fold straight lines where needed or to line up layers. I also used the Debossing tool, but only a little bit to depress letters into the cardstock tag. :) Hope this helps clear things up a little. :) Welcome to Cricut crafting, you're going to have fun! :)
@@rubyburks7366 the way I did the tag I used a Debossing tip which requires the quikswap housing in a Maker machine. However, you can do the bag without the Debossing tip and just make adjustments. :) I believe I walk through the process in this tutorial of the blades and tools used.... Have fun creating! :)
I would suggest using a hard plastic or metal ruler to help create a crease where needed. The scoring marks that are intended to help align the pieces on the front and back could be guesstimated by your eye. For the best results I would recommend at least a scoring stylus. Here's a link for a Cricut scoring stylus: 🛒Scoring Stylus Tool: amzn.to/3N4PP9n
I normally cut with the glitter face down. It seems to work great for me, but I notice a lot of people do what you do and cut with the glitter side up. Are there any benefits to cutting face up?
You're doing it right. That's the better way, in my opinion. However, the cutting mat will not last as long if some of the tips I mention aren't followed. Cutting glitter side up is faster, however it will affect the blade more.
I used the single scoring tool in the quickswap housing in clamp B. However, you could use the scoring stylus in clamp A, too. For cutting, the fine point blade. :)
That's not an easy question to answer. Yes, however you have to put it on a mat. There are ways to try and bypass this without a mat, but ultimately the Maker 3 and Joy were specifically designed for smart material without a mat (or with as needed).

I used 80 lb cardstock for the base material and glitter cardstock for the accents. :) I'm sure any medium weighted cardstock would work for the base material. For the accent, using a printed paper or light weight cardstock would work great. :)

If it's not available you might find something similar, it's DCWV brand. I believe I found it at Joann, too. :)

The original bag base design was shared in the Cricut Community Projects by Louise Beauregard.
During this tutorial, I made some subtractions to the original design and some additions such as the debossed tag. However, the base of the purse is the design in this link.😊
@@terahhowell I asked where is the link to the Materials you used like the glitter card stock etc where I can buy it from Amazon?
Share the links
Oh, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I will try and link my supplies in the description for all my project videos. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find online the Cricut Sensei Sampler cardstock that I used for the solid pink. Here is the link to the glitter cardstock that I used, as well as an option for a solid pastel pink:

my cricut didnt cut the guide/fold lines is there something i can do to fix it? I see the lines on the design space and mat it just doesnt leave any kinda marks on it
Some of the design and fold lines require a scoring tool or scoring stylus. You could try a ruler to fold and then crease where needed. :)
I don't have a maker or debossing to so what do I do
You can complete this project with any Cricut Machine. The Debossing tool is only necessary for the hanging tag, which is optional of course.
The Designer of the original bag made a Cricut Joy version as well.

Did you just make your own wording for the word Coach?
Yes, I did. I used the 'Happy' font on Cricut Design Space. :)
Are you downloading the coach emblem? I couldn't find in cricut community.
I used the "Happy" font in Cricut Design Space. :)
@@terahhowell oic! You created yourself---I was searching all over and then I started looking for other designs I've seen with Louis Vuitton...talking about going down a rabbit hole. LOL Thanks so much for your video!!
Is there a way for me to download the file I do not have cricut design space I use the cameo 4 cutting machine....I really would love to make these gift bags.
I wish I could answer that question with a direct link. There are definitely bags "similar" that are available as cut files on Etsy, Crafty.net and others....
What weight of cardstock did you use?
I used 80 lb cardstock for the base material and glitter cardstock for the accents. :) I'm sure any medium weighted cardstock would work for the base material. For the accent, using a printed paper or light weight cardstock would work great. :)
@@terahhowell thank you so very much🤗
Very good job!! Wish the file came in something besides just cricut. I have a silhouette. :(
Thank you! :)
Maybe try Etsy for a reasonably priced cut file for a cardstock purse. :)
I did. Unfortunately I didn't see this particular one...which I LOVE....... but they were others...... I can open up just about any file EXCEPT cricut lol
@@staceybaker41 I love this file too! Hopefully you will find something similar for Silhouette. :)
@@terahhowell me too :-( if I knew the measurements of the purse u may could make something similar..... does cricut allow you to save in another format or just xricut files?
The purse bag bottom (with score lines) is 9" x 4.5", the purse bag fronts (with score lines) 8" x 5.5" and the purse bag sides (with score lines) 4.5" x 5.5". Hope that helps in some way. Maybe another viewer can easily change the Cricut file to a Silhouette compatible SVG and share it in the comments. :)

Can’t find this design. Does it make a difference that I’m using an ipad? So frustrated!
Oh no I'm sorry.
I'm glad you asked. I have a first generation iPad and just attempted to update the app. I received a message that my device no longer supports the app. I would need to get a new iPad! Oh my goodness.
Unfortunately, you might have to use a laptop or PC.

What do you do if the very outer bottom piece doesn’t score for folding?
Oh no..
I would try folding where the score lines should be with a hard plastic or metal ruler to press the cardstock against. Once you get somewhat of a crease, fold the cardstock down and run the ruler or a scraper tool over the crease.
Hope you are able to have a beautiful result. :)
Terah thank you so much. It took my tired brain a bit to come up with the exact response you mentioned!😊Thank you so much. My bag turned out beautifully!
