Fun fact about the male mentor who was introduced in Himeno's flashback in this episode (and who you'll see more of later): the mangaka has said he was heavily based on the appearance of actor Mads Mikkelsen, of whom he is a fan.
Ok so its not 100% confirmed, but it is very likely because Mads Mikkelsen is quite famous in Japan and Fujimoto (the author) Is well known to be a really big film fanatic which is also very visible in his other mangas. And also the similarities are quite uncanny if you ask me, knowing Fujimoto's personality, I think its almost guranteed that Kishibe is heavily inspired by Mads Mikkelsen.
Oh boy, episode 8 is my favorite of the season and I cannot *wait* to see how y'all feel about the resolution of this episode's cliffhanger! (and also, well, whatever else happens) I love that upon hearing that Himeno has kissed just about everyone present at the table, Denji's reaction isn't any dumb stereotypical "ew I don't want her kisses, then" judgment but instead an elated "oh shit, that's guaranteed, then!" celebration, lol.
This series is inspired heavily by Tarantino stuff. One of the themes of Pulp Fiction is that he goes to the bathroom at the worst possible time. CHAINSAWMAN takes that and runs with it. Every time Denji goes to kiss someone, it goes terribly wrong. That's a recurring joke in the series.
Chainsaw Man Episode 7, or "Denji and the Amazing Technicholor Yawn," had perhaps the most over-the-top violence of any episode so far with Denji repeatedly slashing and guzzling the blood of the Bernie Wrightson homage body-horror devil for three gory days. And all memory of that epic mayhem marathon was instantly forgotten in one moment, all because Himeno decided to play "Two Public Safety Devil Hunters, No Cup" with Denji, probably traumatizing the poor boy for life. To Denji's credit, he could have handled the whole situation worse (well, he chewed and swallowed vomit, so maybe not "worse" maybe just alternatively bad) - at least he didn't drink from a toilet or have a panic attack and lock himself in a bedroom. And in both cases your reactions were so much fun! I'm really pleased you picked Chainsaw Man, because it's an absurdist roller-coaster endorphin cocktail. Going forward, will Isis ever be able to look at Hirokazu again without laughing? And don't think I didn't catch Isis using her "Doom by Proclamation" power against Himeno - and that's before Himeno ever got all "bad touch-ey" on an under-age boy. "Better Help!" After everything else THAT meta-reference busted me up! (That's "help" H-E-L-P!) Well, that's it. You just pulled off a pro-level topical segue to a sponsor promo as good as any I've ever heard. You're ready for "The Big Time" now!
Awww yeah THAT moment in this episode is the moment I feel personally is where I think many women(especially the more uptight prudish types) who watch this should get to before they decide if they wanna drop it or not. If anything for the experience.🤣🤣 Edit:much respect to homegirl on the right, she didn't look away from that moment at all. She knows how to face something unpleasant without looking away. The moment where Denji swallowed was too much for me personally.

I think that’s totally fair! I definitely went through a phase where I kept thinking…I NEED TO SAY SOMETHING HERE. Haha but I’m hoping we’re getting better with time!
Right…we were not expecting that. Well, we really weren’t expecting a lot of things that happened in this episode but it’s uncomfortable to say the least.
@@kenshiku ok let's start with it's just an anime. It's addressing real issues. Next age of consent. Japanese laws are an absolute mess when it comes to sexual assaults. It's considered a worse offence to disturb the peace by calling out molesters on public transport than to be the dirty groping POS. This gives you an idea of the mindset of the politicians who wrote the laws. As a young adult, especially in a very hierarchical society like Japan, they are trained to defer to the grown adults. This is an unbalanced power dynamic making refusal difficult and possibly dangerous. Thus statuary grape. In this case he is clearly weak, dizzy, confused, drunk for the first time in his life. Also Himeno, in the next episode, outright states she could have been thrown in jail if he had gone through with it.
Just sat down with a big bowl of chili I sure hope nothing gross happens

I personally stopped eating chili once I discovered how very very easy it is for you to throw it up if you're not feeling well...

I am glad Arai has become Isis' favorite. The scene he takes care of Denji shows he is really a good guy at heart😄
12:09 finally someone noticed the look of disgust on Arai’s face😂😂😂

16 year old is the age of consent in Japan. You are being quite a sensitive person over a pixel moving.
