It's 2022 and this game is still awesome, never gets old. Scorch was my favorite soldier and I just suddenly remembered this game right now and I used to play this on PC since I was a kid and completed all the missions.
I had the GameCube version and I would spent hundreds of hours playing this gem. I don’t recall correctly but I think the console version had a bunch of exclusive missions like playing as the bugs.
Bro I felt like scorch was always the first hero to die on my team haha.

I used to play it at my neighbours house as a kid on PC when it first come out just bought it on steam since I see it on there not played in a LONG time brought back some good memories

Man, I remember playing this soooooo long ago. I'd love to see a full playthrough, Baron. The campaign, the great battles. Hearing all the little voice clips takes me back.
The memories. First RTS game ever played. This was back in 2007 when I was six. Wow how time flies by.

Dang I got a bad case of nostalgia from this one. I played Sarges Heroes on the 64 too along with Army Men Air Tactics. Good times... I really wish 3DO and Army Men was still a thing. They could make some sick extensive games with the new consoles and PCs.

The story sounds like the time an Australian Army Captain, while working for the CIA in Vietnam, lost his sanity and went crazy and joined the Vietcong. He was captured by the US Army 1st Calvary Division's Colonel and some of his men. The movie Apocalypse Now is based on that story.

this is why toon graphics are so superior to "realistic". this game is like 3 years shy of the 1990s, and doesn't make you want to vomit or plan a visit with your eye doctor. the UI, controls, and mechanics may or may not be aged, but the graphics are completely fine lol

You could play Age of empires/mythology next.
Dawn of war could be fun too.
I do find it crazy how this game uses the same Zero engine as Battlezone II: Combat Commander, both Mercenaries games, and even the classic Star Wars Battlefront games. They're so distinct in how the games behave that you'd never think about it compared to something like the Source engine where every game has shared behavior that you recognize (then again, the Source engine is just a heavily built-up GoldSrc engine which itself is heavily built-up from idTech 2).

Tabs with army men! Imagine! They are shorter then most guys and if you place them on the blue side they are green and if you place them on the red side they are tan. Think about the different types of army men, m16s, mortars, snipers, machine gunners

(Yes, it does seems like a sketchy download but it is completely fine. Just don’t trust the pop up ads….that is what will kill your computer, but the download itself is fine) Oh and also, this game has a multiplayer community that is still alive and functioning! While it is indeed small there are still content creators (like myself), modders, competitive players, and clan events. If you remember playing this game in your childhood I highly recommend you try the multiplayer scene. Be patient though because even though it seems a simple game, a lot of the “pro” AMRTS players are legitimately really fucking good. And if you are willing to put up with losing a lot at the start you will eventually see how much fun it is when you play full on try hard mode. And if that doesn’t suit you there are the casual game lobbies too. I hope to see you guys in my next match soon o7

Nostalgia for me I never owned this game but played the demo as a kid but the game I mainly played as a was mostly dune 2000 for the PS1 and a few times the original c&c for the PS1 love how this games format is exactly the same in the building the way multiple troops make the same exact formation patterns as well

I can remember a glitch on the level where you play as the bugs where I clicked on a Tan soldier and it said something to me. Don't know how I did it though, must have been an error. This game is cool although my favourite is army men toys in space.

Army Men have always been one of my childhood games. I've loved the game and I love the toys. They are awesome and I wish there was a new Army Men game like this out there. If you have Men Of War Assault Squad (one) Baron theres a addon on Moddb that simply reskined the nations. Its simple but amazing.
