So obviously I don't make a lot of content outside of Total War, so this was quite a challenge to do for me personally to gather footage, articulate my thoughts in a script and really do it justice. How did you guys enjoy it? Would you like to see me review mods for other games as well? Let me know what you think in the comments below! Also seriously, go check out Age of the Ring it's an awesome mod.
It really is good, only wish is that there was a little more contrast for certain units to better distinguish which unit is which to better use their unique abilities
I accidentally found your mod (which I regard as full game) today. I want to say thank you so much for your love and passion put into the game. Your game is everything I wanted to ee in original BFME when I was a child. And thank you for this wonderful journey and giving a reason to return to LOTR universe. Can't wait to play RoTK story. 100000000x thank you combo. You can be proud of your work
The actual gameplay is WAY too hectic for my ageing reflexes (at least in skirmish), but the sheer amount of effort and love on display is absolutely astounding. Oh, and a piece of advice for people playing the campaign: You'll want to quicksave. A lot.
Try out the edain mod then. It's way more structured and balanced with less emphasis on micromanzgement and ability stacking and more about strategy and map control. Aotr is too bloated and hectic for my liking.
@@MrJabbothehut I prefer Edain too, but the problem is that it is only 2.01 version, and its buggy, like units passing through walls buggy. And that is annoying
You sir! Are a legend! I've been asking for months and you've delivered. On this you and I are agreed. This is thr single greatest mod for LoTR. I can't wait to play their RoTk campaign. Thanks for covering it and bringing attention to this wonderful mod. Ps. Now I'm gonna start asking for the CKIII Mount and Blade mash up mod. Edit: thanks for the shoutout!
Hahaha love you man you introduced me to a great mod I’ll be enjoying for months. And don’t worry I’m already all over that and the Crusader Wars mod :)
Geez what a nostalgia trip. It never ocurred to me that this game could have mods, I think I played it before I had much awareness on the existance of mods XD
I never stopped playing this game since it came out (only paused from time to time) and have been following mod scene for a long time. The fact that it is alive and well after all this time speaks volumes. It just because of this game and its modding community that I ALWAYS check for mods for any game I play, and especially the older ones.
Nice video buddy. This is an awesome mod that I have been playing for a long time let alone the game itself. Constant updates and hard work that the mod team puts in it are clearly shown. Any Tolkien self-respecting fan needs to play this mod. A wholehearted recommendation for anyone and everyone.
This mod actually has more than just the base factions. You can go into the mod menu before launch, and generate new maps with the Adventure Factions to choose from! So in reality, this mod has what, 15+ factions to choose from? Its insane. Really the only issue i encountered was the end game spells, for me, they did WAY too much damage. But again, this mod shines through, you can literally modify the game files all you like to your hearts content. I went into the base files and changed the damage values of all end game spells, so now end game armies can stick around and fight each other more instead of being deleted by a spell power. One of the best mod experiences in existence.
do the new campaigns have tutorials? It's been yeeeeaaars since i played my copy and would need a refresher though would love to hop right into the mod.
I personally think Realms in Exile for CK3 is the best LotR mod with how it portrays lands given less attention by Tolkien in a way still faithful to all his works
The mod Age of the Ring for BFME 2 is really nice and fun to play. But when installing the needed patch for RotWk 2.02 v9 I get a problem "Base game files not found" or similar. Solving this problem was a bit weird. I hope the developers of Aotr will cooperat with the developers of the BFME laucher soon.
Fantastic video. I think this is easily one of your best. You should def do some Age of Empires or Age of Mythology content. Love the style of editing you used here. And yeah defreview other mods!
@@TheTerminatorGaming there is a submod that is being worked on for 1 or two years that add even more content for the mod. More factions have choices of alignement(between Way of the West, Way of Darkness and the Shadow) and it change the units they have access to. Also for some factions, if you conquer certain area, you gain special buildings in your capital to recruit new units :o Like for Tharbad, if you conquer the whole Cardolan(the South of the Arnor) you gain access to a unit of pseudo Guards of the Fountain
@@moin7227 installing both mods is problematic. There are instructions for how to, but it's a llt easier to just have 1 mod or hsving 2 Rise of the Witchking folders with each mod and then renaming them when you want to play
Oh boy are they! Custom storylines, extra content, book characters that were cut. There's a very interesting storyline with Boromir, if you manage to save him from Lurtz, that I am very curious to see resolved.
It's business for them. Licensing the content cost a lot for EA and they don't believe it's a good investment. The crowd, that enjoys this type of games is tiny.
@@Pigraider268 No, only 11 standard factions can work with AI in BFME2, sadly. So we can't add it properly. If you use our AotR Options tool (included in the download) you can generate additional maps to play Rhûn on.
Aye, great channel and all, but your profile pic and intro narration sounds maybe a bit too much like Black Pigeon Speaks for me to subscribe. Sorry lad, but that aside godspeed.
AOTR is really awesome, but the engine is really letting it down. The graphics can still hold up but large armies start bugging, many groups becoming unresponsive and lagging the hell out of the game

I think if you limit yourself to just TW, you'll be at the mercy of an increasingly out of touch CA.

I do wish we had more content and games on the 2nd Age. The second age is one of the more truly unexplored areas of LOTR that could be so expanded out
