I’m a 60 year old white woman and never been into rap until I listened to Dave’s song Black live at the Brits. It hit me hard and have bought both his albums since which are both genius poetry. Subscribed and look forward to hearing more from Dave. I would definitely love to see your reaction to Black.
He's clearly a very deep guy with a lot to say. We'll definitely do some more so please keep watching and thanks for the suggestion, might be good to do a live track of his so we can see his performance

Alot of his stuff is like spoken word, poetry. Like you said he's very deep. And he's a great story teller also especially in his tracks(lesley) and (how i met my girfriend). But he does also have some fun bops to like (location)

Panic Attack is so gripping because of the vulnerability he offers the listener. The intelligence in the lyrics. Along with the imagery he builds all at the same time. The most powerful aspect of it all is that the theme of the song expressed is still very much unresolved. In his shoes we are put, but no answer can be offered!
"In his shoes we are put, but no answer can be offered!" is exactly how i felt listening to it. He's expressing his truth, all we need to do is really listen.

This was recorded live at Future Festival in 2017, just Dave sitting at a piano. It's worth watching, he has a presence live that goes beyond even what is recorded. Heart Attack is actually a direct sequel to Panic Attack, they even start with the same line "I bet them boys think I'm panicking..." You really have started at the very lyrically dense end of Dave's catalogue though, I would suggest giving yourself a breather and trying something a little less heavy like Location or Funky Friday or Streatham - all still excellent tunes with amazing wordplay that won't weigh on you quite so much. Love what you guys are doing though, your conversations about the music are very thoughtfully articulated and I love that you did Little Simz too (even though that maybe didn't get the views it deserves).
Thanks for watching and your extremely kind words! :) Yes I feel like we've dived fast and deep into Dave and we were talking about doing something of his that had a more typical song structure so those are great suggestions. We've also talked about doing a live performance so we can see him as that'll add even more.
I love the Little Simz track we did but it's been out for a while and maybe people aren't searching for it as much now. We're new to this so learning as we go and we'll try to be quicker on the big songs as they come out.
Dave is incredible. He does have loads of other songs which are less heavy like Location, Picture Me and Funky Friday. Black and Question Time are also heavy but easier to digest. Black is amazing, extremely eyeopening

😂 I grew up with hip hip in the 90s but I admit that I might not look like that! I fell out of love with it for a long time especially in the last 10 years or so but I'm finding so many great UK artists out there now. Dave has been a big surprise and not what I expected at all!

We’ll hopefully be getting back to reactions soon. Just not been possible for us over the last few months. It’s important to hear stories of other peoples lives and Dave is a great storyteller
Good reaction and people have given some good suggestions for now so I’ll enjoy you going through them and Yh to be fair this live version is a lot more bare musically than the studio version which you can check out in your own time if you’d like. And Yh he has many tracks which are very popular 😂 but people enjoy this deep side to him most esp for new listeners so that’s probably why these are the sort of suggestions you’re getting for now.
They're emotional for sure and it's no suprose that people gravitate towards those racks. We didn't know the Panic Attack one we did was live until the end, it was just the first one that came up on search. We're planning on doing a couple more in the next week or so please subscribe if you want to be notified.

Thanks for the suggestions, lots to choose from there. I know of the four owls as I'm an Ocean Wisdom fan and I'm starting to listen to the High Focus artists. I've seen Akala's Fire in the booth's and a lot of his TV appearances but not heard any of his actual music yet. And I've heard of Immortal Technique but don't know much about him. please react to dave - question time. its about uk politics. one thing i will say is you will develop an ear for rap overtime and you will pick up on things thats you missed this time round. a lot of the hip hop you hear on the radio like any genre of music is just about being commercial they are not the best rappers who make it commercially
