  • The Australian media has reported that PNG NRL bid would become a reality as it was given the green light. That means PNG will host its 18th team for the NRL competition. An official announcement will be made later. This $600-million deal by the Australian Government is expected to be presented to PNG on its 50th Independence Anniversary next year. To confirm or deny this, PNG Prime Minister James Marape told local media that it was a work in progress. PM Marape committed to a statement to this effect as soon as he was briefed about it.
