James was most definitely awesone and the funk prototype modelled throughout the world. And then there was Prince who incorporated all of James & much of Mike to become the One. Taking nothing away from MJ or JB, however, PRN was the Gospel too. Yes, as a youth I lived in the Howard Theater, hiding in the Theater bucking til the Midnight show and all that. Worth every minute. But a Prince show was just too Unfunkwitable.
@Yusef Braxton Prince or Michael couldn't touch Mr Dynamite! James Brown was straight HOOD. They had to crossover to him not the other way around. Prince was never a soul man and neither was Michael. They had a rock background not JAMES BROWN HE WAS A STRAIGHT SOUL MAN. Prince was a suburban kid and Michael wasn't far behind, so go ahead with that nonsense you've been talking
Unfair to compare The King of Soul to The King of Pop! Each are individually talented and in their category! It's like comparing #Prince to #Little #Richard! Different Jandra! Peace! ✌️
James Brown hands down was the BADDEST SOUL MAN EVER! HE DROVE HIMSELF AND HIS BAND HARDER THAN ANY OTHER BAND ON THE PLANET! JAMES BROWN HAD THE BADDEST BAND EVER AND HE KNEW IT!
0:15 People in the front row clapping and rocking out - I love this shit man. I think I've watched this video every night for the past 30. Early in the morning, can't get it right. Had a little time, with my baby last night!
I saw this Great man at the moscone center location in 1970 and his son did a double flip and landed on the splits i knew what i wanted to do after that show....i became lead singer for slave in 1982!
I saw James in September of 06. Great show. My brother called on Christmas day and told me James was dead. I could not believe it. The world's greatest entertainer was gone. Glad I got to see him at least once.
I saw James Brown, at least 4 or 5 times. The 1st time I saw him in Milwaukee, WI, and he lit up the stage. I can't really say too much because I was so young . . . the 2nd time was in Milwaukee, too . . . he entered Milwaukee County Stadium by helicopter! He left by out-running the audience back to the helicopter. It's all a blur but it is the truth! I saw him a couple of time later when I was in Japan . . . I met Maceo, Saint Clair, Danny Raye, . . . it is all incredible but so true.
@@marmillsfo I am officially envious of you! A lady I taught school with saw him in 66 in South Carolina. Now that would have been something! Appreciate your comment.
I'm back here again watching Mr. DYNAMITE at 8:44am November 1st 2024!!!!! I'm about to go into work with this hard groove deep down in my bones, making it's way down to my feet and it feels so sweet. YES YES YES!
I had the Supreme Pleasure of seeing this man work in the Regal Theater in Chicago in the '60's too many times to mention. The Hardest Working Man In Show Business! Mr. Dynamite! Mr. Out of Sight! Soul Brother Number 1! Mr. James Brown! This is Soul, Funk and Fantastic Entertainment! Good God!!!
I had the chance to see MR. DYNAMITE LIVE AT THE APOLLO THEATER IN HARLEM NY. 125TH STREET. WOW. It was 1973 and Doing It To Death had just came out and he tore it up. Man, I'll never ever forget that night. The band had just got MACEO BACK.
Recorded this one with The Dapps, I believe, around the time James changed the face of funk by throwing the blues progression out of the window. All he needed was a groove.
This version is COLD BLOODED! THEN HE AND THAT BAAAADDDD BAND GO INTO COLD SWEAT FLAWLESSLY! THEN MACEO PARKER MATCHES JAMES BROWN BLOW BY BLOW, THEN WATCH HOW JAMES BROWN EXITS BEHIND THE CURTAIN!
I was reminiscing about the parties I had back in the day one of those parties should of been straight up nothing but James Brown. I don't know if we could of handled that! lol
The GODFATHER at the top of his game.
