Just in case you don't know: Waiters and waitresses are reprimanded for being slow if they don't do that. Technically they could wait for a few seconds for you to finish that bite but, you typically are not their only customer. I personally have not worked at a restaurant but my brother did and told me this. If you work at a restaurant and you do this for a different reason, comment why you ask how the food is when the customer is in the middle of a bite.🙂
