Uhh hi. I’m autistic and I think I have ADHD. I fit most of the traits for it and it really makes sense. But the waiting list for diagnosis is really long and my Mum doesn’t really understand why I want a diagnosis since I already get all of the support I need (that is true). I also think that the stress of going to get a diagnosis just because I’m curious wouldn’t be worth it. However since there is a lot of bad stuff surrounding self diagnosis I feel like I would kinda need one. I don’t know what to do. I’m asking here because your videos have helped me a lot before so yeah idk... UPDATE: I'm getting a diagnosis soon!!!! UPDATE 2: I GOT MY DIAGNOSIS YESTERDAY!! Thank you so much for making your videos about ADHD so I could know what it looks like and see it in myself.
I’m on the spectrum, with a childhood diagnosis of ADHD and an adult diagnosis of autism. (Flew under the radar for a while) I also suffer from other mental health issues, which can be exacerbated by these things. I always felt like the world didn’t want to let me live in it so I had to mask a LOT!! I still do.
Welcome to the ADHD club! I had a feeling you might be ADHD also. I can relate to how to feel after your ADHD diagnosis. After I got my ADHD diagnosis, I felt like everything fit together better.
Got mine todayyyy.... at 31 o.O but better than 41 or 51! I had that EXACT stereotype in my head since childhood, a little boy, screaming, running around, knocking stuff over, red cordial to the max - that's what ADHD was to me. And I also realised that I'd been subconsciously very dismissive and almost derisive of people with ADHD because they were mostly boys or men (out of the people I knew) and they were always given so much support and understanding whereas I, a "smart girl", was just told I was wrong and loud and to do better, change, not be bad or attention seeking or a smart arse. Like, internally I often wanted to hurl myself against walls for the stimulation and energy release but I had to sit still and behave while THOSE guys get to "do what they like"? Much resentment. I'm glad I've worked that out, cos it's not fair on anyone. If you have any pain problems that you think could be related to your ADHD (I've been hearing some interesting things about the associations between the two), I'd love to hear about it. Otherwise, whatever you want to go into is awesome, you're a delight.
This is amazing to me because I have experienced something similar to this, but in reverse. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and now in my early 20's I've been diagnosed with autism as well. Thank you for sharing, and expressing the thoughts and emotions of it very well!
I am glad you got your diagnosis. There is a RUclipsr called the Aspie World, his name is Dan he has autism, ADHD,dyslexia, and anxiety. Check him out, he is good.
Thank you so much for this video, I really needed it because I’ve been wondering about being autistic AND having ADHD, so I’ll start soon therapy and get a diagnosis, but the most important part was when you talked about stereotypes or people saying “you don’t look autistic”, because the closest people I told about it were understanding but told me that I wasn’t autistic and that I was just extremely shy, but thanks to this video maybe I’ll make them understand and this gave me a little more hope
thankyou for sharing your story with adhd! i’m 23 and currently in the midst of being diagnosed and honestly there isn’t a lot out there about REAL and differing symptoms and especially how they present in females and as adults! really looking forward to your other adhd related videos! LOVE your content, you are such a wonderful person and an amazing inspiration to many 💖
Wow, I have just recently been diagnosed with ADHD and this is just...nice to hear idk lol...I had a friend that said I didn’t have it as I didn’t act like it but I knew I had something...and I did. This story was nice thnx for sharing.
Great share, Chloe! My therapist prefers the label "features of" to describe the spectrum-like nature of a lot of psychological and neurodevelopmental conditions. Amazing that you've been sharing your personal story for 6 years! I so respect that -- I just got the courage this month to start sharing my Adult ADHD story, and it's a scary hurdle to get over. So, kudos to you!
I have both as well. For me, the ADHD is more in my head. As in the hyperactive thoughts, a Ferrari for a brain. Younger, it was more outward, I really was the kid who couldn’t sit still. However, it was easily targeted into things. I got good grades (I loved school and learning and would make anything about horses to focus better!). Teachers would send me to do errands, which I literally ran to do. Anyway. Yes, you are valid, both are possible and happen often, like you said! 💕
as a smol child i would complain to my mum about how i couldn't focus in school. she would say she also could never focus in school and how it was normal. we both have adhd
I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid. That diagnosis was used as an excuse by teachers to exclude me from the classroom. The other kids followed that example and excluded me from their social groups… unless of course they thought it would be fun to play the “let’s point out all her abnormalities so she can fix herself and then maybe we’ll let her hang out with us” game. As an adult I was diagnosed with autism, and since then I’ve refused to even acknowledge my ADHD diagnosis.
I love your content keep spreading awareness. I always get comments about my son not "looking autistic" I normally compare it to blindness because I am Legally blind and have 10 percent of vision on my right eye and 5 percent on my left eye but if I'm not using my cane people wouldn't know.
Hi Chloe!! Your channel is amazing and it makes my feel really happy!! Every time a new video uploads I don’t waste time to go and watch it straight away!! I am autistic and I am selectively mute I hope you see this comment!! Have a nice day!!
Early today. I was watching one of your videos, and I said to myself she has ADHD (I do too). Women are less likely to get diagnosed with ADHD and ASD. Also co-morbid ASD/ADHD tend to be later diagnosed.
I am an 18 year old girl and i’m just now realizing I most likely have asd and adhd. i’m so scared that no one (including professionals) will believe me
@BellaRose I confided in 2 of my closest friends and they believe and support me 100% :) I had an appointment scheduled with a psychiatrist to be evaluated months ago, but I unfortunately lost my health insurance so I wasn’t able to go. i’m currently in the process of getting it back, so i’m basically just on hold for now
Thanks for this video. As an autistic person myself, I've also begun questioning whether I have ADHD as well, specifically the Primarily Inattentive Variant. It would explain a lot. For an ADHD focused video, perhaps one about the different types of ADHD.
Thanks so much on making this video! Can you please make a video on comparing & contrasting the real symptoms/ traits of ADHD & ASD? What are the similarities? What are the differences? Do you think some traits from either one compensate for the symptoms of the other? Very interested in this!
Chloe, I would really like you to do a ADHA video because I wonder IF I have ADD. I can be forgetful A LOT and I can have issues with concentration. I actually have LOTS of notebooks, where I jot things down to help me make comments and pay attention more closely. That is also why BEFORE this Covid-19, when I was going to Church with my Boyfriend, I would email Sermons to my Friends, to help me learn better. As a Child I was diagnosis with Learning Disabilities and I would like to explore the idea that maybe in the 70s something was missed. However, I can get very tired as well as I can be hyper at times, but I also have chronic physical pain and auto-immune problems. Any way, I so agree that "labels" do not make us "less" and like someone on You Tube said, "Follow dreams, live the life you want to not because you arrive free of flaws and free of judgment [from] others, but just by existing are are worthy of that":)!! Like you said Chloe, "Different, but NOT less":)!!! God Bless and stay safe as much as stay happy
What a beautiful shining star. I wish I had your positive outlook about this, unfortunately I have found it to always be a hindrence in life. I hope I find my feet and can understand what my superpower is. One day. Keep up the great work!
I feel like after speaking to some friends who have ADHD, and now hearing how it is for you I feel like there's a definite high chance I also have it! It sucks that to get a diagnosis where I live is so difficult for both autism and ADHD, especially as a woman. Though several doctors told me I am autistic, our diagnosis team has been replaced by something our terrible government created where if you aren't the Sheldon Cooper stereotype, you do not get a diagnosis and it sucks. I was on a waiting list for over a year to see this "professor" who was meant to be able to diagnose me properly but he retired just as it came to my turn and I was kicked off the waiting list. It's so frustrating. But for me, seeing people such as you and knowing my traits line up with yours and other people I'm friends with or follow, not to mention other doctors who say I'm autistic (and even suggested the possibility of ADHD) this is how I have to accept it for now and learn how to navigate life with this information rather than being forced by society to fit into neurotypical norms. Thanks for this video, lovely! I love your content and always bigging you up to people (as you've seen on Twitter lately 😂)
I currently live with ADHD and Autism im a very sensitive person and if somebody tells me a joke for example I become very angry and just lose my temper very easily and get very offended easily by people telling me jokes its really difficult for me because from about the age of 8 when I was at primary school I was out of control I would disrupt the classes I was in and I would always be running about in the dinning hall wrecking the tables and chairs because I was that disrupted and the teachers was sitting me and my family down one day saying we cant cope with this hyper child any more but we have no choice but to send her to a special school it was really hard for me because I missed out on mainstream education and I regret that because its effected my grades I missed out on doing my GCSES Never asked to be born with this health condition it has been really difficult for me to live with and im finding it difficult for anybody to employ me because of the way I am but since from the age of 8 I have treatment for it now im on a anti depressant ive never been prescribed ADHD medication it does keep my mood stable I can concentrate more now and ive just taken up meditation I meditate 10 minutes every day in the morning and night thats how im managing my ADHD symptoms at the minute a lot has changed since them I have calmed down a lot more but still have my moments when I get over excited over things ive noticed when I drink coca cola that makes my ADHD worse so try to avoid that drink I do have a family history of ADHD and Autism in my family my older brother has the same problems as me it runs in the family just gotta keep living my life as normal as possible I can totally relate to this video I am now 25 years old now and still have my struggles with ADHD
This is the second upload I've watched so far after your review of, Love on the spectrum, I'm 50 now and was diagnosed at 39. Word associations with adhd like gift and superpower are not helpful. It is the equivalent of being "inspirational". I'd recommend How To ADHD channel to watch, as is well researched. I'm also seeing a lot more people being diagnosed these days on the socials. There are loads of resources out there and sure you will find your journey.
At the end of my ASD diagnosis two weeks ago the consultant informed me I had ASD and next month she would like to assess me for ADD/ADHD as I was exhibiting all the signs, was a surprise and quiet a lot to take in...
So that felt relatable. I had never really thought too seriously about that I maybe have ADHD too, but, uuh, I looked up symptoms and stuff and most of that was just literally me. The problem is that I don't really know how I get checked for a diagnosis. I got my autism diagnosis at probably 5 or 6, so I don't really remember too much about that. I assume that I tell my parents, though, but I'm not really that good at just being open about stuff. Also, I know that this comment is honestly pretty pointless but I don't care. I felt like writing it down somewhere. Somewhere public, because for some reason that makes the thought seem real. Though, I guess this is actually a highly edited thought as when I was writing this I ended up getting seriously stuck at the word "thought", so I ended up repeating that word quite a lot in my mind and then there would also be a lot of unrelated thoughts and words that don't make no sense thrown in here and there. Though that may just be how normal minds work.
Did I miss the diagnosis process part or did I just misunderstand the title of this video? I have been diagnosed as both autistic and having ADHD. For example, for my ADHD diagnosis, I was given a questionnaire, (my mother had to fill one out about me) but I also took specific tests, on a computer, done by a neuro-psychologist. Later, I also had testing off & on my ADHD meds for one of the tests. I listened to your video twice and I’m sorry if I missed whether you have a diagnosis by a doctor or whether it was a self-diagnosis, for now. I do think there can be a place for self-diagnosis. However, I feel like sometimes it can be helpful to distinguish it. For instance, someone self-diagnosed with ADHD may not feel they need ADHD medication. Sometimes a diagnosis is helpful for getting reasonable accommodations at school or work. I get this video may have been more about the journey, but I would be very interested in a video about how you got diagnosed with ADHD and a video about your autism diagnosis journey but also a video on the autistic diagnosis process you went through. I’m female with ADHD and autism, so I feel like sharing information on the diagnosis process can be helpful to everyone, but also for females who tend to be under diagnosed or misdiagnosed with something else. I would also be interested in a video on what services you have received, if any, for being autistic. Did you receive social skills training in a group? Did you just mimic others? Self-help books? Social skill books? ABA(applied behavioral analysis)? CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) ? Speech therapy ? Apps? I get not everybody feels like they need services, and that is also okay. I would also be interested in a video where you explain if you received reasonable accommodations at school. I had reasonable accommodations through kindergarten and college. However, I received the accommodations through a different label, as I wasn’t diagnosed even with ADHD until I was in college and autism after that. I have been wondering if it is unusual to be recognized as having problems at such a young age without getting a diagnosis until someone is much older. I had severe social problems in elementary school that was well-documented. In my school records, repetitive and restrictive behaviors were noted by teachers. I also had signs of sensory issues. I actually think if I had presented the same way but was male, I would have been diagnosed sooner. I am just speculating, of course, I get that autistic females without intellectual disability (ID ) tend to present differently than autistic males without ID. Of course, there is the fact that before 2013, doctors wouldn’t have considered an autism diagnosis with me because I had a solid ADHD diagnosis, with ADHD symptoms that objectively improved on medication. After 2013, I was able to be diagnosed with both autism and ADHD.
I'm on the autism spectrum and my little sister has ADHD. I see both in you, so I'm not surprised at all. You have traits that are clearly autistic, but I always thought you also had ADHD. I never realized that you never knew you had it.
hi, all :) if you have a moment, please read and offer me some advice haha. so recently I discovered how ASD actually affects females, and it was like instantaneous relief. suddenly I had this term that perfectly describes every part of my life, so I found a psychiatrist that does adult asd evaluations, and i’m currently on the waitlist. then a couple of weeks ago, I started to get adhd content recommended to me on all of my social media platforms, and I really identified with what people were describing, so I started to do some research into that too. to my surprise, I had another epiphany moment and realized I probably have adhd too. the combination of asd and adhd perfectly fits all of the struggles and experiences I have. at this point I have done hundreds of hours of research and self reflection into this and it’s not something I take lightly. what i’m struggling with right now is how to convey to the psychiatrist that i’m not some diagnosis hungry teenager who googled my symptoms once and diagnosed myself. I really want her to know that I take this seriously and I genuinely believe I might have both diagnoses. I don’t want to be written off before I even have a chance to explain myself
If you already have an autism diagnosis, would it be beneficial to go for an ADHD diagnosis if you have suspected also that there is something else? - Connor
Your awesome Chloe I love your channel I hate dumbasses that say ' you don't look autistic you can't look autistic love you Chloe love your positive energy
The funny thing is that i just got diagnosed with adhd. When i did get it i felt alot of relief, but now that i have done some more research i think im also autisticXD. I realy relate to alot of the things you say in your video's and it feels like adhd dousn't explain everything. Im 28 but people always think im a girl in her late teens:p.
My son was diagnosed a week ago with Comorbid Autism and ADHD. I’ve been researching a lot to know how I can support him and find him support elsewhere too. He is 7.
I have autism and im convinced i have adhd as well, ive been tested for it and it came back negative but i dont believe it. Partly bc the person tested me said that autism and adhd is actually not able to happen together but thats obviously a lie. I can relate 2 about every trade of adhd witch makes me believe i have it. My gf who is diagnosed with it is also convinced i have it. Im not sure what to do now tho, should i get a new test or leave it as it is as a official diagnosis wont change anything in my day to day life
That's an awful thing for that person to say to you! Whoever was testing you sounds biased and misinformed, and it sounds like they need to go back to pyschology school pronto, so I wouldn't take their opinion so closely to heart. I know this was 11 months ago now, but go with your gut feeling, that's what I'd recommend. If you're running into lots of difficulties in your life, and especially if it's taking its toll on your mental health, self esteem, or future outlook, and you think it's due to difficulties arising from ADHD and not your autism, then I would take some time to mull it over... Then save up some money, build up your courage and then go and seek out a psychologist/psychiatrist again, but someone more qualified and up-to-date, who diagnoses ADHD in adults and who recognises that many conditions, like autism and ADHD can be co-morbid! Perhaps, if it's possible, you could even bring your gf with you the next time around, for morale support for some of it, even if it's just to make sure that you've found the right person who will be very thorough and ask all the necessary questions, and also listens to you well, and takes all your concerns seriously, and takes the time to hear you out, without laughing at you. I've had awful problems with doctors laughing at me because they think that only kids are diagnosed with ADHD, or because I'm not 'hyperactive enough', and refusing to refer me on to someone who could assess me. But I'm hoping that (one day) I will have the courage to find a doctor who will take me more seriously, and maybe the money to seek out more support for my problems. Good luck (if you haven't already received a diagnosis!) 👍☺️
@@skyline5668 that's a great start! 😊 I think what I would do next if I was in your place, is just double-check that they diagnosis all ages (adults too). Although that sounds way more promising than that stupid person who originally dismissed you!
Please do an autism diagnoses story. I would also like you to make a video on claiming ndis as I'm thinking about doing it but don't know where to start
I recently discovered that I have ADHD... When I found out I was autistic, a few years ago, it was like, oh, everything makes sense now! But wait, not everything. Hyperfocus on special interests? Sure. But why do my special interests last literally two or three days (one week max) only to be substituted by another thing that becomes the most important subject in the entire universe? Why haven't I focused on one single thing enough to become an expert? Sheldon Cooper went on to earn a Nobel Prize (and I'm sure a lot of real-life Nobel winners are autistic). Not me. I'm super-smart, and super-focused, but I wouldn't be able to stick to one subject. Like you, my prejudices concerning ADHD were about little boys not being able to stay put on their chair for the entire class, and I was a good little boy who learned early on to sit still and not call attention to myself (being bullied helped). Weren't ADHD children all about being in class and, instead of learning the multiplication tables or whatever, thinking about how would I escape if this school were a Prisoner Camp? Wait, that's exactly who I am! And I do sit still, but squirm a lot when I'm by myself. I just mask my ADHD just like I mask my Autism. Now it all REALLY makes sense!
We love your vids Chloe, you are truely so inspiring and informative... wondering if you could do a vid on “how secondary school education” was for you?... my daughter has always struggled with the mainstream school system and about to start yr11 nxt year, somehow?!! Many thanks for all you do 🤗💖🌟🌺🌼🌸
I also have adhd and autism and I've noticed how alot of things that come along with my autism balance out or counter balance my adhd and vice-versa, I would like to know if u also have this bc its really interesting to think about for me haha =]
I was told I had ADD which is the same thing, but without the Moxie... I had that energy disciplined out of me as a young child :/ but you talk at a rate where the muggles i fear cannot hear you, perhaps a disclaimer on how to slow it down. ( i love the speed you communicate :D I find it refreshing, but I've learned that some people cant keep up to the pace but will fake that they can but miss the message) but that's just my 2 cents. while tired whatever you decide, I hope to see more of your posts :) (have you done a post on spoon theory? I feel that you posting one would be a hell of a lot better than me trying to exp[lain it while out of my own spoons lol
Hi Chloe, just wanted to ask when you were younger did you have problem with language and speech? My son just recently been diagnosed on the spectrum he is 3 years old with delayed speech. Thanks your amazing.
Oh and btw, I was never previously a Harry Styles fan until I saw this video of him and some other musicians play Watermelon Sugar . ruclips.net/video/jIIuzB11dsA/видео.html
I am doing my assessment now and it looks like I have ADD. When you say 70% of autistics have ADHD do you include ADD in that figure because it sounds very high to include only ADHD.
yeah if you got diagnosed with ADD that just means you are ADHD primarily inattentive, or whoever diagnosed you decided that you have the hardest time with your inattentive symptoms, so I can imagine lots of difficulties with activating/ maintaining focus, remembering things etc. and maybe accidentally getting into trouble/running into difficulties because of that, as opposed to being overly loud, overly chatty, disruptive, bouncy, fidgetty, impulsive/restless etc. But you still have ADHD! Just less of the hyperactivity, or it could be more internal for you.
PSA: There seems to be a few people that believe that the fact that I have an ADHD diagnosis now discredits the fact that I am autistic.

I am an 18 year old girl and i’m just now realizing I most likely have asd and adhd. i’m so scared that no one (including professionals) will believe me
@@maryjaneberrys I wish you luck in your diagnoses.
I relate so much as an Aspie with ADHD too. I never know when to shut up and notice I'm generally a loud and enthusiastic person.
Thanks so much on making this video! Can you please make a video on comparing & contrasting the real symptoms/ traits of ADHD & ASD? What are the similarities? What are the differences? Do you think some traits from either one compensate for the symptoms of the other? Very interested in this!
You've helped me so much learning about myself! I'd love a autism diagnosis video! Keep going strong beautiful! xx
I’m loving the content lately thanks you are cool
I have ADHD, Anxiety & Autism. I was diagnosed with all these over the last 7 years.
Getting my adhd diagnosis helped me understand I definitely have autistic traits
i love you earings
I love you too. Your fucking awesome, princess Aspien.
I have both too
hi, all :) if you have a moment, please read and offer me some advice haha. so recently I discovered how ASD actually affects females, and it was like instantaneous relief. suddenly I had this term that perfectly describes every part of my life, so I found a psychiatrist that does adult asd evaluations, and i’m currently on the waitlist. then a couple of weeks ago, I started to get adhd content recommended to me on all of my social media platforms, and I really identified with what people were describing, so I started to do some research into that too. to my surprise, I had another epiphany moment and realized I probably have adhd too. the combination of asd and adhd perfectly fits all of the struggles and experiences I have. at this point I have done hundreds of hours of research and self reflection into this and it’s not something I take lightly. what i’m struggling with right now is how to convey to the psychiatrist that i’m not some diagnosis hungry teenager who googled my symptoms once and diagnosed myself. I really want her to know that I take this seriously and I genuinely believe I might have both diagnoses. I don’t want to be written off before I even have a chance to explain myself
If you already have an autism diagnosis, would it be beneficial to go for an ADHD diagnosis if you have suspected also
that there is something else? - Connor
Absolutely, if it’s something you would like to look more into! Xx
I love you
My husband has adhd also and my daughter had autism great video girl
had?
I usually have to speed up videos and listen at full volume, but with your videos I really don't :) love ya
Enjoy this next part of your journey!
I am absolutely inlove with you. You make my days so happy and full of energy. I love ya Fairie 💗💗🌌🧚🏼♀️
@@amelialakeman8262 I do not yet have a diagnosis but I did find a place where they're specialized in autism and adhd
@@skyline5668 that's a great start! 😊 I think what I would do next if I was in your place, is just double-check that they diagnosis all ages (adults too). Although that sounds way more promising than that stupid person who originally dismissed you!
Omg Chloe! This made so much sense to me!
Many thanks for all you do 🤗💖🌟🌺🌼🌸
you are so pretty😍
Can you do a morning routine?
Hi Chloe, just wanted to ask when you were younger did you have problem with language and speech? My son just recently been diagnosed on the spectrum he is 3 years old with delayed speech. Thanks your amazing.
Oh and btw, I was never previously a Harry Styles fan until I saw this video of him and some other musicians play Watermelon Sugar .

Hi I have autism
How are your horses and also Mulan is a fighter
You and I have the same Adhd. Are you taking medication ?
I have Autism and ADHD
My dad had ADHD. He was just as talkative as you.
ADHD is more obvious, actually. Speaking fast, excitable etc.
Welcome to club, multiple executive function disorders. There are a lot of us with both :)
In your other ADHD video you mentioned you were mute for your first 16 years of life, do you explain that in another video somewhere? ;)
I have Autism and my Sister says I have A.D.H.D
ADHD? Wait, no way! 🤣
Adhd #cute #mydreamgirl
Do you take meds ?
💖💖
I am doing my assessment now and it looks like I have ADD. When you say 70% of autistics have ADHD do you include ADD in that figure because it sounds very high to include only ADHD.
ADD isnt used as a diagnosis anymore kinda like Aspergers. they just lumped it all together to be ADHD
yeah if you got diagnosed with ADD that just means you are ADHD primarily inattentive, or whoever diagnosed you decided that you have the hardest time with your inattentive symptoms, so I can imagine lots of difficulties with activating/ maintaining focus, remembering things etc. and maybe accidentally getting into trouble/running into difficulties because of that, as opposed to being overly loud, overly chatty, disruptive, bouncy, fidgetty, impulsive/restless etc. But you still have ADHD! Just less of the hyperactivity, or it could be more internal for you.
Cool Video😍
cool video
No surprises haha x
rare like a steak😅
Chloe, the more I hear you speak, the more I wanna kiss you
Mariam, you don't know Me, it's between me and Chloe ok?
